View Full Version : New locations
I know we had this topic way back and that they're discussing Turkey as a possible new location, but: What places would you like/not like Lara to explore further in a new game????
For me, I'd love somewhere like the Bermuda Triangle or Alcatraz. Please don't bring Colosseum back, it's a really neat and fascinating place and all, but it's really sort of turning into a TR clichè
Good suggestions. I thought they could have made more out of the Colosseum. But I'm trying to come up with a place she hasn't been to yet. She's been to the jungle, the desert, at the bottom of the sea, a desert island, Antartica, the pyramids, castles and big cities... My imagination is not working to good (need another cup of coffee to wake up...) ;)

Some tropical environment would be fun too :D

Mexico: Some lost Mayan pyramid would be fantastic and visually stunning - a lot of fun for the graphics people...
Africa: Ok Egypt is in Africa, I know, but for such a huge continent, Lara's only explored Egypt! How about some lost African mud-palace or diamond mines?
Russia: Siberia anyone? An abandoned nuclear facility? Lots of snow!
Those are terrific ideas ChrisRaider, I'm especially for the Russia/Siberia/snow idea :D Alaska would be great fun too :D
I always thought Sicily would be a great setting (eg, a chase on the Aetna volcano).
South America, Australia, US :D
Australia would be a good idea: diving at the Great Barrier Reef and quad biking around the desert http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif It would be pretty fun if she could climb mountains too :D

She can go to Ayers Rock in Australia. How about Petra in Jordan. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
She could visit disneyland! lol. How about Argentina in South America? I hear that place is beautiful!
South Africa, the diamond mines ;) lol Or the Congo even. Ooo...the jungles! :D
Iceland, there has to be some ancient relic of the Vikings there.
New York City, yes she was there in Chronicles, but I want to be out in the city jumping from rooftop to rooftop. Break into offices on the 80th floor of a skys****er. :D
Switzerland!! The Alps!! :D We haven't had a good snowy setting since TRII! (TRIII was alright...)
Iceland and South Africa are definetely good places for Lara to visit :D

Variation is the key... One of the great things about TR3 is the extreme variety of locations. If your into dark & scary, there is the London levels. If your looking for gorgeous & pretty locations, you have India & the Pacific Islands. If you like modern locations, your have Nevada. Its a smorgasborg of variety for all players.
For me, I'd love to see Lara begining an adventure on boat, perhaps near the Cayman Islands, seeking some shipwreck. With scuba gear on, she would dive into the tranquil blue/green carribean ocean, passing through sea life (sharks, dolphins, schools of fish, etc...) before descending down onto some old shipwreck.
Maybe she should go to some ancient, sacred place with a lot of weird, magical stuff that happens. Maybe she unintentionally ends up in a fantasy world because of it? I think it would make a fascinating place to explore.
I also think a trip to the tomb of the first chinese emperor would be excitng. Its the one with all the terracota warriors and from the reading I have done there are four secret entraces supposedly guarded by four different animals. I don't think even today they know where the actual tomb is located. The emperor wanted to keep it a secret so he buried all the people that knew about it with him. Yuck! buried alive.
Anyone for a trip to Bejing? :D Real tombraiders needed! :D
Yep Trin, there are still areas of the tomb hidden, including the tomb itself, under the mound.
It would be nice to visit Asia again in TR http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
i once said that it would be fun if they put her in a ship... galleon or something like it... maybe a pirate one... a gost ship dont know.. somewhere out in the sea... but at the same time lost in time... and haunted... triangle of bermudas, island, haunted galleons... even an spanish fortress, it could be a gold one if they dont find more things to include in this kind of independent game... casttles.. she plays in a casttle once in the 3rd gold... but .. it was to small... she didnt find anything... at least nothing we would like to, why dont they put her in an entire game including a deep forrest not a jungle... (aA FORREST) big trees, full moon, wolves, snow, rian,...who cares,... a haunted graveyard... a big one.. maybe a level or two of durability, a cool place could be the locations of the soul reaver 2, i loved all the locations of that game.. the gothic castles, then the roccocos, church, ruins under or in a quicksand... thing like that... cities.. zombies.. high technologies compounds... explosions... she running, demons... devils, witches, sorceres, somebody helping her... she running away... deep holes... fantasy things... dreams... and the explanation of what happenss really in the end of tomb raider 4

If we can get enough ppl to vote on this maybe Eidos will take some action.
I believe that Core Design started Lara Croft and Tomb Raider....and should finish it.

no way to most of the ideas, sorry but i hate the russia snow, siberia alaska, come on whats the game going to be called wooden lodge raider? i dont think there many tombs in Alaska, i think they shud concentrate on places like cambodia and malaysia and eygpt/africa! Tropical enviros and the like! places that look stunning and have a story behind them, i hate the new age garbage, dual pistols two miniguns in a eygptian tomb! thats Tombraider! not sum crazy psychos in a mental assylum! or a massive unbelievable harry potter mosnter! (Boaz) There shud be much more gorillas and rainforest, merchanaires actual tomb raiding! Any one know what im talikng about!? shout here!
umm levels or locations she hasn't visited...
Germany,Vietnam,Finland,Saudi Arab,-think i wrote it wrong-...
But these come to my mind when i try to think of places she hasn't been in... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
Even though its been done, id like to see venice again but this time with PS2 power. After seeing how London was recreated in The Getaway, they could make a much more realistic version of Venice than was seen in TR2.

Lara HAS NOT BEEN in Iceland, but HAS BEEN in Groenland!!
Well not officially... but you can read (12 chapters) and play (two levels) a thrilling and touching adventure set in Groenland, made by myself, titled 'Tomb Raider: Ice Heart'
Clickhere (http://www.geocities.com/trlararegresa/corazon_de_hielo/english_index.htm)
I hope you find it interesting
The levels didn't work for me, but I read the story and it was magnificent....very well done perico :D

That's one problem with the next game, Lara has been just about everywhere that's even remotely ancient and has tombs etc but where does she go now? I can't wait to see what CD comes up with.
I'd like to see some old places revisited with the new game engine.

Like Marianne I'd like an underwater adventure with a fascinating underwater environment and I'm partial to a large variety in lifeforms.
This underwater level should be a little longer than the Maria Doria - this time with scuba diving gear.
As lifehouser mentioned Lara hasn't been to Germany.
A wild prehistoric forest might be fascinating or an ice-age landscape with amazing large ice-age animals would be great, especially if she'd finally be given lots of space to ride a snow-mobile.
There could be wind-swept steppes with mammoth, wooly rhino, giant cave-lions, gorges in the glacier covering the largest part of Europe, valleys protected by the wind with trees and giant cave-bears.
And then Neanderthals and Cromagnon people.
Read Jean M. Auel's "the Clan of the Cave-Bear", "the Valley of the Horses", "the Mammoth Hunters" etc.and don't just shoot them all.
I'm all for more differentiation when it comes to that.

My entry 400 wants to see Lara driving and running around on the breathtaking landscape of Mars!
I think it'd be cool if Lara discovered an artifact that would transport her back in time to when the original Atlantean "gods" of TR1 were still around. She could visit the old tombs of TR1 - all the original locations - while the original inhabitants are still around. And she could mess with the future :D

hey how about here in our country, Philippines, here we have 7,100 islands, there is an island here that people said have "witches and monster" i don't know what "aswang" called in english but they have fangs, scary face, with big wings flying only with a half body, torso part, and eats pregnant women's babies in their womb, and an animalistic strenght.
as for me i have never seen these creatures coz i live in the city, but these creatures were often played in movies.
we also have magnificient caves & mountains that would fit Lara's adventures, well that's about it
I thought the South Pacific levels were set in the Philippines?

Hello folks! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif
Ianneganda,
your idea about fascinating islands, mountains and caves in your country is very attractive.
Swimming and boating among islands with azure sea, exploring beaches and rocky coasts, more involved underwater outings with scuba diving gear...
(Just read your entry, Jackinabox2 - indeed, I agree!)
All this sounds so wonderful particularly now in winter while I have a cold again to a sun, colours and different environment - starved Northern European!

Findings point to the supposition that cities existed on the coasts already 12 000 years ago and that they drowned when our interglacial started.

thanx adventurer! there's a lot of unexplored places here in our country that would fit lara's adventure, we have so many beautiful beaches here that were popular to foreigners with white sands and crystal clear waters, like i said before the caves were really magnificent, the mount banahaw also is said to have magical powers i'd like to see lara uncover the mystery surrounding that mountains. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/clown.gif

3.Egypt.Like in TR4-classic real TR style.Inside of a tomb of Temple or something..but it shouldnt be too much like TR4-it has to be new and different.

I really like the urban enviornments used in AOD. I think it's cool to have lara in these area's of the world for now. I think Paris was awesome. And she should continue on this journey through Europe for now. Like I said before lets take her to Dublin Ireland. Sort of like the Paris levels in AOD, we could have lara walking from pubs to homes figuring out secrets to a mystery unknown. then we could take her to her home in England where a group of IRA agents follow her and try to shut her up from spreading the info retrieved reguarding an anchent Celtic Item. :-p

I hope Bulgaria. That's where I was born and it's beautiful and I assure that it's easy to navigate through! The mountain veiw is awsome and the breeze on the beach is so sweet smelling, maybe you can imagine you are holding 3 branches of apple orchard. The insides towards the bigger cities have wonderful shops! People are mostly friendly and anyone would help you out. Lara would enjoy that place because during the summer, it rains (I take it from previous games, Lara likes rain). And it's very quiet and froests are everywhere. I hope if not in 7, maybe 8 or other future games. Luck, hope, and Tomb raider,

The Everglades
That sounds like a fascinating area, too!
For an urban adventure the harbour of Hamburg comes to mind.
Imagine all the TR-features a large, modern harbour could offer like cranes, ships, warves and giant watchmacallits.
An old sailing-ship is moored at the pier where people go for an outing to watch large passenger-liners arrive.
There are different tours on low sight-seeing boats around the extensive harbour and the net of waterways going all over (I wonder about the "under") the city.
Just to give you an idea - Hamburg has more bridges than Venice.
The harbour had a "world"-wide importance in the middle ages being a major point of trade and a central member of the powerful trade-organisation called the "Hanse".

China!! Since I found out recently I was part Chinese, I've been very interested with this culture. I was looking up some artistic periods of China when I came across the Thirteen Tombs of the Ming Dynasty and thought of Tomb Raider, naturally :D

Definitively Mexico:
We have shores very exiting near the piramids in Cancún, Quintana Roo, Yucatán and forest like in Chipas or Tabasco and all the mayan places with all its stories and legends and Guatemala because there were mayans too. You must see them, it´s like paradise and most of them are for real (some are artificial because of tourists), make by own hands of people who lived many many years ago, and "cenotes" and tunnels, involved in magic and respect and approach with nature and animals like jaguar... most of them you would find them nowhere.
I also would like someplace underwater, a shipwreck(like Maria Doria in TR), corals, caves underwater with tunnels.
