View Full Version : Lara's Home Yes or No
Should she have a special home level? if so what would you like to do in it?

I was thinking how cool it would be for Croft Manor to a be a central part of the next tomb raider game.
It would be the base operations for the game, her armory (prior to each external mission, Lara gets to take a trip down to the armoury where she chooses her weapons, outfits, etc...), a training center (for new moves, intro for newbies to the game), have an updated version of both the vehicle course, but also a training timed run, shooting gallery, as well as the setting between adventures.
Add to this a few secret rooms, as if players score some secrets during the actual adventures, it would open some additional stories with Croft Manor. For example, if she scores well on a given level, when you get back to Croft Manor you can access the 'Trophy' room and watch Lara, via cutscenes, some previous adventures.
Maybe Lara could have her hous broken into! Similiar to TR2 but with stealth Maybe?

However, I would not like to see it as a true "level". Personally, I believe that Lara's home grounds is much too small, and the designers would have to make it larger first.
Honestly, I hated the "Home Sweet Home" level in TRII. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yuck.gif Unless Core makes some big improvements from that (and add more weapons, too, because I don't like using the Shotgun), I don't think I'll be happy playing a level such as that.

Yes, YES!!! :D I love Lara's home, it's just so nice to wander around there, go outside, on the roof, drive that quad bike... So yeah, it'd be GREAT if they'd put Lara's mansion in the next game! Not as a part of the game really, just like it has been this far...
I don't care what they do, just a feature or a level. ;)

Yea, the games are not really the same without the house..It's nice to just go there at the start of the game, or just go there for a break from the game. Lara's home on the PS2 would be great.

In TR 3 the training/house level is rather large, and with some interesting features; eg, the timed door that leads to the aquarium where you find the key for the quad bike training area - I know there are other ways of entering that area, but I enjoy the legitimate process http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif
I'm not keen on seeing a whole level in Lara's mansion, but an FMV or two set there might be good. I think they should bring Chris Barrie in to do a voiceover of the butler from the film, and have that young inventor in it too. We can keep Winston of course. Maybe he can be retired, hence the presence of Barrie?

Yes bring back Croft Manor!! Maybe they could put more detal in it too, like, being able to explore more rooms, find hidden rooms and just look around at everything. I wonder if they wll put Winston in it again?
i think they should add more to the level eg. make the outside gates open to take lara around the area and she could also visit some friends and she could also go to the shops to buy outfits.

I think bringing back the mansion would make the game a "Tomb Raider" as we all love to remember when we first discovered Lara. So yes i enjoyed the discovery of the aquarium and the trophy room
and old Winston pottering around getting in the way ,soaking up the stray bullets. Oooh... im getting all nostalgic.

Yes, bring back the mansion, except make it bigger a la Croft Manor from the movies style. Imagine 83 rooms, the training grounds, S.I.M.O.N and riding the horse and shooting the shotgun at the target. SWEET!!!

YES! bring back the house!!! :D I agree that they should make it bigger, alot bigger because in the other games there were always those closed doors that you couldnt open and it would drive you crazy. I also loved the quadbike track, they should bring it back too and maybe Lara could ride a dirtbike instead of the quad. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif

The home level was an amazing hit when it was realeased for the first 3 titals but now its twisted to something I hate I used to Love Tomb Raider games everyone up to revelation I hated that and I only continue buying Tomb Raider merchandise beacause im a loyal buyer
I can tell you this now the futre games will be unlikly to attract more fans like us

My favorite custom levels from the level editor are the ones of Lara's house. Maybe she could have more than one house like a "London" home or a "Coastal" house. ;)

i love that mansion! i'd like to explore lara's bedroom it should be big! i'd like to do training in her house than in the start of game like in AOD coz its kinda boring listening to her giving instruction when we're suppose to know already her moves and start our adventure! but anyways i hope the mansion will be included in the next game :D

*the s.i.m.o.n room where lara trains with him
*kitchen
*dining room
*trophy room
*swimmingpool
*living room
*lara's bathroom
then she can have a room for winston and a few rooms for certain things like a weapons room
i think that if you put 83 rooms you will get yourself lost

*quad bike area
*garden(make it look like the garden from the film "the secret garden"
*horse racing course from the tr2 movie
*garage so you can drive the cars outside the gates and also drive motorbikes
outside gates
*houses
*shops(lara can buy clothes for levels or for just wearing around the house.we also get to choose what she wears on each level and these clothes will affect lara depending on the weather so if it snows you dont want lara to walk around in a skirt because she will freeze.)
*musseum
*art gallery ect

Laras home was great, although i think it should be more of a fun/training level rather than level itself, like the maze from tr2 or the aquarium.

I would love to have Lara's Home back!!! \(^-^)/ That way people can go to the training level or not...plus, for storyline, it could be a few years before Paris.

Having the Croft Mansion would be cool, especially as given they're no longer using a tilebased level design they can actually make it like the REAL Croft Mansion.

who wants to pick characters between lara and kurtis. if you pick kurt, lara can show you around the house. :D :cool:
I would like an home level at the LAST part of the triology, a bonus level or the boss level where lara returns home and a giant reji monster atacks the zone! It whould be so cool seeing her making a big puzzle in time limit!

no seriously the fans have been asking for it for years, i dont know why they would take it out in the first place but they seriously need to bring it back now. why it wasnt included in aod is beyond me. who cares if it doesnt fit into the story line. MAKE IT FIT INTO THE STORY LINE. i swear, core is the first developement team that makes the story a greater priorety then the game. the story helps give you motivation but come on, i rather have a good game then have a good story. BRING THE MANSION BACK :mad:
