I've got it all planned out in my head:
How about having a story spanning 5 games.
The first game could be a good introduction to tomb raiding, maybe set it in Peru, Europe, Egypt etc. Lots of tombs and stuff - and mummies!
The second could evolve more, include city environments (Venice maybe?) and even have vehicles that Lara can ride. The story will be different and not a follow-on from the first game.
The third instalment could be a fusion of the first two games - just better. Graphical improvements like smoke, footprints etc. Again, set it all around the world, but this time, have a choice of the order in which you play the game.
The fourth game could be a return to traditional Tomb Raiding: Egypt. Let's set the WHOLE game there, but this time have a darker and more intricate story. You'll hate me for this, but Lara could be missing presumed dead at the end of the game...
Finally, the fifth game could be a look back at Lara's life. The 'episodes we missed' sort of thing. We could see Lara as a teenager without weapons etc.
I'd end the cycle of Tomb Raider there - I doubt anyone would be able to improve on that.
