... if just one level or two, Lara had to desguise herself and go undercover to steal some sort of artifact or something? Like she would have to go to some important place where some sort of important event is being held, but she couldnt be reconized as Lara so she would have to change her clothes, wear a wig, maybe put on a fake accent etc, just desguise herself. I think it would be cool for a level or two, not throughout the whole game though.

Just an idea. Its Alias-inspired lol (fom the TV show Alias if you've seen it). http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Yeah, its not too bad. However, I don't care very much for the whole stealth thing...

I always wanted to play a level with Lara in an evening gown, like the opening cutscene in TRC.

I think it would be neat to see her dressed up and still kicking a$$.

But I too wouldn't mind playing Lara wearing something less casual during a bit. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Although I absolutely adored all her clothing styles on AOD. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif

But what if for some reason she just cant be seen? It all depends on the plot really. I just think it would be really cool to see the classy side of Lara Croft http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Edit: What happens if Kurtis was to show up and saw Lara...? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/love4.gif

Sounds like a good idea - but I don't think the disguise part would be absolutely necessary. On the contrary, the stealth part would be rather cool. Just imagine a whole level where Lara should pass unnoticed... Using only specific, brief movements - ie, always walking and never running; crawling and commando-crawling, moving in stealth-mode and attacking the enemies from behind, using her neck-breaker move - basically what she did in TRC/VCI/Red Alert!, that is, only more developed and enriched with more elements.

In 'Return to Castle Wolfenstein' there is one certain level where BJ Blazkowicz, the hero, has to complete his mission this way - stealthily, passing unnoticed from his enemies, using all sorts of ways to get past them and defeat them so that he can go on. If he is noticed, he is captured and the game is over. When I first got to that level I thought, "Oh, come on! Not a stealth one! I'll be bored to death!" But after a few minutes of playing, I saw that not only it was totally capturing and fascinating, but moreover much more difficult than normal gameplay - and of course this could be only positive for the game. It was an interesting interval among so many levels of immediate action.

One or two stealth levels would be ok, but they shouldn't turn TR into a stealth game. If there really will be stealth, these parts should have much better AI than the others, like the guards actually investigate a place where they hear a sound. But that is not needed in normal levels.

Nicky, yeah I liked that level too.
Dunno if I have it still about, but when the Wolf3D source was originally released; I took it upon myself to see if I could use my '1337 5k1LLz' (as the kids seem to put it nowadays) to make a mod for it.

Found a whole section of code remarked
// Stealth section
// john i'm not sure if you want to keep this here but i've remarked this section
// I thought that having to drag the bodies around and enhanced intelligence would make the game too difficult. Try to keep it simple man!

well being the inquisitive type (heh :D ) I recoded the source in Miicrosoft C++ 5.0 and proceeded to activate the original dragging, noise and intelligence routines.
definately make Wofl3D alot better, might still have the engine about somewhere I think.
(sorry for the off subject there)

I think the idea of a stealth area is a fantastic idea. Anyone played Blood Rayne 2? the starting level, it really is the sort of thing I think would work.

Only add in how you have to use stealth to get past sections, but then I'm also a big protagonist of giving people 'alternative' routes when I design levels. So I'd probably let the user choose between more acrobatic stealthy route, or an action packed more direct route.
both of which providing thier own bonus for doing it that way.
The theatre idea is a fantastic one, because it would really lend to Lara's uipper class side, that she dislikes so damn much.

I myself am not into the stealth thing, but then again I say let stealth games be stealth games and action/adventure games be themselves also.

but I wouldn't mind if you had more choices in the new tomb raider to be able to say stop an ancient ritual either by storming guns blazen or tactically crawl and walk around pick off one enemy one by one quitely.

LOL... Anyone played FF7?

If so, remember when you're going to sneak into ShinRa headquarters? You could either bust in or take the sneaky route.

First time through I chose the sneaky path. I sweared I'd never take that route again...

For anyone that hasn't played it, the sneaky route has more than 100 sets of stairs, and that's that.

I don't like the stealth bits at all, you know, like the bits on the 13th floor level in TRC? That was never what TR was about for me. I just get frustrated. I like going in, all guns blazing!

I like anything that has Classy Lara in it in the manner of that TR Chronicles FMV where she wears the dress with the gloves. I mean, with The Angel Of Darkness they gave us her dark, Buffy-style eyeliner side... Before that we saw her Indy side, her Pamela Anderson side, her James Bond side... Why stop there. I want her in a dress. Though the heels would be a ***** to run on, haha. Oh I don't know. Let her slip some sneakers in her purse. Then again, Charlie's Angels used to walk around in heels.

BloodRayne always runs around in stiletto heels :D Also wears a dress during a part of BloodRayne2, so...I think there won't be Lara running around in a dress in the next game, it would kinda be seen as a rip-off.

It would be great if you can play in a dress, as an unlockable, you could unlock different costumes, then when you replay a level you could choose if you want the original costume of the level or one of the unlocked ones :D

I will love to see some stealth level in tr7, maybe as alternate routes as Raven_ said

Yeah, like if you get for example 10/100 secrets you get something, and then 20/100, 30/100 and so on.

You should be able to unlock many different things, making the game more interesting, and also make people want to play the game more than once.

Getting all secrets could unlock a special debug menu.
