Its a Madhouse: Need another Aviary key?

I used the Aviary key to open the gate into the Aviary. Once I used the key it was gone. Later, I leave the Aviary by sliding down a rope to a new area. In this new area I find a keyhole and I'm supposed to use the Aviary key. How can this be? Is there a way to this new area without going through the Aviary? I found a path in the new area that dead ends at a gate. Do I need to find a way to open the gate and bypass the Aviary? Or is the game just broke (i.e., it should but doesn't let me use the Aviary key more than once)?

There are two Aviary keys. The first one you find on the bridge, the second you find after you rope slide to that small little island, there is a small pool of water on the right side. On the bottom you will find the second aviary key. Beware of the flesh eating fish! Good luck!

OK, I went back and replayed this part of the game again. I got the Aviary key from the dead monkey in the bridge room. I swooped down to the island and got the other Aviary key before I became fish bait in the small pool. But when I check my inventory, it says I only have one key. Sure enough I go to the Aviary gate to unlock it, then I check my inventory again and there is no key.

So am I supposed to unlock the Aviary gate after the bridge room but then travel to the island to get the second key before entering the Aviary? If so, these travels are different than the walkthrough. :confused:

Hmmmm....Here I'll give you what my walkthrough says, and you tell me if its the same as yours and what you have been doing. We'll figure this one out!

Mine says...." Enter the bridge room. Kill the monkey inside and take the aviary key on the bridge. Go through the green hole and monkey swing to the other side, drop down and then jump to the ledge below to avoid the spike. Kill the tiger before heading up to the stairs, pull the switch and head into the next room. Kill the monkey and then find the cage near the path on the right. Remember this spot, lets call it checkpoint A. Go to the right oath, climb the grey ledge and ride the ropeslide onto the small island. Kill the monkeys, and take the ammo and then look for the small pool at the side of the small island. There is a key laying on the bottom of the pool. Save your game and dive down. Quickly grab the Aviary key, then get out of the water. There are now three paths to choose from, one with the lever and the one which is already open. Go back to the checkpoint A to find the second secret. Head back to the small island, pull the switch near the small pool and quickly climb up onto the ledge. Run to the newly opened door before it closes and go back to where you used the Zoo key before. Use the Aviary key on the other door, go through and follow the path. Kill the bird and look for a ladder on the east wall hidden behind a tree. Jump down, climb the ladder and take the ammo, then find a way back to the path. Look for the ladder on the west wall and do a running jump to grab the ladder, climb up and then head right. Next, jump onto the green ledge and then head over to the white ledge in the middle. Use the rope to slide to a new area. Use the Aviary key on the lock beside the statue to access the secret path." See if its the same as yours, and let me know!

Yes, that is the same walkthough I am using. I highlighted the parts I'm talking about:

As you can see, you get two Aviary keys prior to using either of them, but as soon as you use one, you no longer have any keys. How do unlock the secret path beside the statue?
