* find out how art preference and personality may be linked.
Take the test } HERE (http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/mind/surveys/art/) {
This is a real experiment, developed by UK psychologists, and it will help them understand how personality and art preference interact.
Interesting. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Your favourite type of art is Impressionism.
In the personality profile you had a high intellectualism score, which suggests you like to think about abstract ideas and have a creative imagination.
People who are the same age and sex as you are most likely to prefer Northern Renaissance
People who also score highly in your dominant personality trait are most likely to prefer Japanese ukiyo-e I love that too!

Your favourite type of art is Abstract.
In the personality profile you had a high intellectualism score:
People with high intellectualism scores are interested in the abstract. They like thinking about things they can't see and have creative imaginations, able to dream up whole new worlds. They like to feel they understand things and will probe deeply into a subject to get as good an insight as possible.

More about your personality test results
High extraversion
People with high extraversion scores tend to thrive on company – they're more likely to enjoy mingling and meeting new people. They crave stimulation and enjoy parties and other events where there's a lot going on. They'd also tend to be very open about themselves and their emotions.
High agreeableness
People with high agreeableness scores engage positively with other people. They are keen to understand people's feelings and feel real warmth for others. As they are so empathic, they like to make sure other people are happy and will do what they can to put people at their ease.
Average conscientiousness
People with average conscientiousness scores have a sense of responsibility and like to get the job done. However, they might concentrate more on the big picture and less on the details than people with high conscientiousness scores.
(But this does not apply to me, i am very concientious. Usually, whenever the job is done, i go on and on to get it perfect in detail. There were two words in two test's questions (forgot them) which i didn't understand, so i picked the neutral choice (average), maybe that explains! :D )
Low emotional stability
People with low emotional stability scores have a very varied emotional life. They often have a lot of nervous energy, which can motivate them to do things. They have a strong emotional response to events and can't always predict how they're going to react, but whatever the reaction their life has a powerful emotional intensity.
Average intellectualism
People with average intellectualism scores are less likely to be interested in abstract ideas than people with high intellectualism scores. But they are not always as focussed on practical matters as people with low intellectualism scores. They are somewhere in between. Sometimes they are interested in learning the details behind something outside their everyday experience, but they also have a fairly good grounding in the real world.
High emotional intelligence
People with high emotional intelligence scores see themselves as emotionally well balanced. They believe they are good at empathising with other people and have a good insight into their own emotional needs, drives and reactions. High scorers see themselves as well balanced and largely in control of their own emotions. They also tend to feel confident in interacting with people and believe they are able to connect with and influence others by using their emotional understanding.

Lavinder http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif Northern Renaissance
The most famous Renaissance artists worked in Italy during the 15th and 16th centuries. Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael are household names. But the Renaissance, or the artistic rebirth, which followed the Middle Ages, also happened a little later in other parts of Europe.
Northern Renaissance painters of the 16th century had their own style and created works focused on morality, religion and human nature.

Looking at a cubist painting is a bit like gazing into a shattered mirror – the image is fragmented and you can see it from different angles.

Sounds a lot like me and it is also consistent with the results of a extensive talentscan I took part in not too long ago. :D
However I do like a lot of different art. Some people claim they don't like 'abstract' just because it is not recognisable. I think that is a 'short sighted' point of view. There sure is some beautifull abstract art out there: great colours, great use of paint and brush, great chapes... Even though I never draw abstarct pictures myself. Abstract paintings are actually very hard to create!
I did miss some art styles in this test though.. expressionism, surrealism, magical realism... ;)
But I'm sure they had a good reason to only use the ones they have used.
Hmmm... on the other hand... one could call Hieronimus Bosch a very early surrealist with those weird creatures he painted. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/vlol.gif
Whoa big test lol
