Okay, I've decided to take a stab at writing something, since I have no art talent whatsoever. Anyways, let me know what you think! I'm only posting the first little chapter. Well, it's not even a chapter, it's more like a preview to see if I should continue. I have no idea how far this will go or if it even will develop into a story. The only thing I'll have to keep me going is you guys! That is, if it's worth reading, so post all your comments/criticisms, thanks! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/hug.gif

**Oh, and one other thing, since I have no possible way of knowing the actual plot of Legend, and seeing how this is a fanfiction, there will be most likely a bunch of false information, except a little in the first chapter about Lara going to meet Anaya, that I got off the official site, and I'm going to use it to start up my own little plot. So, for the record, nothing's official, guys.**

Lara Croft cringed as the brisk Arctic air floated eerily around her. Time seemed to stand still here as the chilling air crept down her spine. She flipped open her palm pilot to see a ‘new message’ notice. The message was from her close friend, Anaya, who had been planning a trip for the two of them to visit a tomb in Peru together. After a fatal accident that took place there, Anaya seemed to want to uncover further mysteries that lie beneath the tomb’s dusty past. Lara shivered; as yet another Arctic gust zipped past her. She closed her palm pilot only to hear it ring, someone was calling. She flipped it open once again, to hear the voice of one of her tech assistants.

“Lara, Lara, are you there?” The static voice crackled.

“Yes, I’m here. What is it?”

“You’re needed back at the manor, we’ve found something we think you’ll want to see.” The connection was breaking up. “If you could just… Back here as soon…” The voice on the other end died out. The chilling weather had caused the signal to be lost.

Thanks amlai and TRM! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/hug.gif I appreciate the comments. I need some more readers, keep posting! Okay, I'll post the rest of chapter one right now. Remember, it's just a story, and it's not exactly accurate according to the games. Hope you enjoy it.

Just as Lara was about to call for transportation, her ever trusting air-lift crew appeared out of the foggy, wintery air. The loud noise from the propeller made Lara’s head spin, but that feeling was erased quickly, as she saw her friendly helicopter pilot’s grinning face. He cautiously let the helicopter down, as Lara backed away, allowing it to set down on the helipad. The air sealed door opened with a loud noise, and she climbed in, throwing her bags in the back of the c0ckpit.

“Hello, Lara!” Said her pilot, Matthew.

“Nice to see you again, Matt.” She said with a smile. “What’s this about finding something I’d find of interest?” All of a sudden, a grim look appeared on his face. This couldn’t be good news, she thought.

“Ah, yes… I’m afraid the archaeologists that reached Peru before you have uncovered an artifact. A man named James Rutland took it back to his headquarters somewhere in Indonesia.” Matt explained, while selecting the right dials carefully for lift off.

“Indonesia… Why Indonesia?” Lara questioned.

“Well, because, the artifacts are safe there. He’s got this whole warehouse full of them, and the one you need is now among them.”

“So… How do we get it back?” She shot back.

“Er… That’s the problem, we can’t…” Matt said as the helicopter lifted off the landing pad.

“What do you mean we can’t? And why would Anaya call me if she knew this Rutland guy already had the artifact?”

“Well, that’s why she called. That isn’t the only thing that was discovered out there.” His tone changed drastically.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Lara said, raising an eyebrow.
“You see, Lara… Anaya found something more than any artifact imaginable. This is way more serious than you can imagine. She found a body.” At that exact moment, Matt’s tone changed from eerie all the way to morbid.

“A body?!”

“Yes, and it didn’t look like just any old deceased remains of ancient times, either… Anaya said this one looked fresh, so we thought you might be able to identify it…” Matt explained.

“Identify it? Isn’t that the job for the authorities? Have you called in yet?”

“No, no we haven’t. Lara, just go meet Anaya. The way she said everything sounded so… Unordinary… Like she wasn’t telling the whole truth of it.”

“You mean, she thought I’d know who it was?” Lara asked.

“Yeah.”

“Alright, fine. I’ll go. But if this is just another one of those ancient remain things… You’ll be the one I come after.” Lara joked.

“Heh…” Somehow, Matt’s response wasn’t as joking as hers’.

It was late at night when Lara started off to Peru, courtesy of her private flight crew, they had a jet set up for her when she arrived back at the manor. Matt stayed behind, but Lara’s plane pilot accompanied her. The whole flight had an eerie quiet to it, but the entire time, Lara gazed out at the night sky. When she finally arrived in Peru, it was morning. She couldn’t wait to see Anaya again, she hadn’t seen her since their dig together back in Egypt nearly five years ago, which was secretive. Only the top archaeologists were invited along on that one. As time flew, seemingly as fast as the plane was, they were finally in Peru. The private jet was able to fly near the dig site grounds, so Lara wouldn’t have too much trouble finding Anaya in the deep jungles and ruins she’d have to come across. Anaya had left a text message earlier saying she was going to meet her in the Temple of Kyzic, which was a very ancient, sacred temple used long ago for ancient rituals. The artifact Rutland got was in here, and Anaya and Lara were originally meeting to go find it. Now that their plan was destroyed, they were going to meet to find the body.

Lara spent half an hour climbing jagged rocks and rocky upgrowths of the Peruvian earth below her. She saw so many interesting formations, it was hard passing them up to hurry to meet her friend. She knew she had to hurry, though. For all she knew, someone could be making their way there right now in search of the body, even the authorities. Had Rutland found the body while he was searching for the artifact? Or had his henchmen found it while helping out? These thoughts only made Lara quicken her pace. Finally, she saw flashing lights coming from inside one of the small crawlspaces. The lights stopped flickering, and she saw Anaya’s figure, standing over a large lump in the ground, which was covered by a dig site sheet used to protect the archaeologic finds. Anaya turned around slowly, thinking Lara was really someone like Rutland. Lara had clearly startled her.

“LARA!” Anaya ran to her, but resisted the temptation to give her a friendly hug. Lara’s firm appearance caused Anaya to realize that wasn’t the best of ideas.

“Anaya! I’m so glad to see you! You sounded serious earlier, what’s going on here?” Lara asked, as Anaya guided her over to that lumpy pile of cloth on the ground.

“I wanted you to see something I found while I was searching for the artifact… You really should have come earlier, I have a feeling we’re running out of time…” She explained.

“What are you talking about? Anaya, where’s the body?” Lara said as she stopped, and at her feet, lo and behold, was the clothed lump. This must be it, she thought.

“Here it is… You go ahead, uncover it…” Anaya whispered, as if they were being watched from a distance. Lara started to uncover it, as she heard rocks tumbling from behind her.

“Uh oh… I think we have company.” Lara reckoned. But even still, she hurried to uncover the body. As she carefully unwrapped the cloth that was held together extremely tight, she threw it down and gasped. She backed away quickly.

“Lara, what is it?!” Anaya exclaimed.

“That’s… It can’t be…” She said, seemingly out of breath, as she ran to the outside of the crawlspace. Anaya chased after her.

“Lara, who the hell is that?” She asked.

“Anaya… That’s Kurtis Trent’s body…”

“Kurtis Trent, as in Kurtis-bad-ass-motorcycle-man? The one you told me about? I thought he was dead already?”

“Why is his body all the way over here?” Lara held her mouth, as chills erupted down her spine, then they seemed to shoot all the way back up to her neck.

“Lara, are you alright? Maybe someone killed him and brought him over here…” Anaya comforted Lara. She didn’t care if Lara didn’t like it, she wanted to be here for her friend, because clearly she was shocked, and a little disturbed.

As they peered around the corner back at the body, men in black outfits appeared out of the darkness with fluorescent lanterns. They started for the body. Anaya restrained Lara as she fought to get to Kurtis’ body, if she hadn’t, their cover would have been blown. The men in the black outfits heard the crackle of the gravel below Lara’s foot as she struggled to keep her balance. Anaya pulled Lara back against the wall yet again. The shrouded figures covered Kurtis’ body up again, as they took his lifeless body away. Lara squirmed, she didn’t know why she wanted so badly to chase after them, but she also wondered why she hadn’t brought her pistols, if she had, these men would have been dead. They dragged the body out of some secret exit they had used to enter the tomb, and disappeared into the darkness.

Alright, let me know what you thought of that, if anyone has any suggestions for chapter 2, please let me know. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
