View Full Version : Not able to download TRLE from TRC?
Hi. I've acquired a level that the designer said it didn't need the LE to run. However it was glitchy for me so he told me to download TRLE anyway. I've tried three times to download LE from www.tombraiderchronicles.com, both the Lite and Full version, and neither will get copied onto my computer. It goes through the downloading process and unzips everything to their appropriate places, but when I try to run it, the only thing under 'Core Design' is The Times Exclusive Level I previously downloaded from here. Why is it not downloading correctly?
Or perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place? I'm sure, though, that it would have been put in the Core Design folder, as it is a product of Core Design and The Times level got there fine. Any suggestion as to why this is happening? Should I try to download it from another site? Please help.*
* Had to make it a clean five-sentance paragraph!

If you install the LITE version, you will find it located at:
c:\program file\core design\trle
If you download the full version, you first need to burn the ISO to CD, then install as normal.
Welcome aboard :wve:
Ok, I see things are in the TRLE folder. However, shouldn't there be a link to start it up under Start > Programs > Core Design? All I see is The Times Level. The last time I had it there was a link to it under there. The level designer said the level would work once I downloaded TRLE but it still doesn't. Maybe the level's just weird.
EDIT: And I just tried to run Tomb4 (The LE is under the name Tomb4, yes?) and it doesn't work. It just flashes a blank screen then dissapears and sends me back to the internet. The last time I downloaded it, I had it for about a week and a half and it started to do the same thing. I'll probably just buy a cheap copy of TR5 and get the LE from that...
EDIT 2: *sigh* And then the editor itself works for one sitting and then I can't get it to do anything again. I click the little buttons but nothing happens. Like the first time I did it, I added lights and shadows and I could place them wherever I want, and now, no matter how much I click, no buttons will activate. I hate this stupid LE.

The Times Level? Sounds to me that you've installed THE TIMES EXCLUSIVE (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr4/demo.html) and not TRLE (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr5/editor/trle.html).
Someone should be along shortly to assist you further.
No no no, you don't understand. I know I downloaded the times level. It was there before I downloaded TRLE today. And it works fine.

"unzips everything to their appropriate places."... This is all wrong.
You seem to not understandn what a ISO is and how to handle it.] but when I try to run it, the only thing under 'Core Design' is The Times Exclusive Level I previously downloaded from here. Why is it not downloading correctly? ["downloading correctly"? I assume you mean why is it not installing correctly. Answer: that is because you don't do it the right way.]
Or perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place? I'm sure, though, that it would have been put in the Core Design folder, as it is a product of Core Design and The Times level got there fine. Any suggestion as to why this is happening? Should I try to download it from another site? Please help.*

Ok, I see things are in the TRLE folder. However, shouldn't there be a link to start it up under Start > Programs > Core Design? All I see is The Times Level. The last time I had it there was a link to it under there. [You have not installed it. You have just unzipped the Level Editor ISO into the Core Design directory.] The level designer said the level would work once I downloaded TRLE but it still doesn't. Maybe the level's just weird.
EDIT: And I just tried to run Tomb4 (The LE is under the name Tomb4, yes?) and it doesn't work. [No. Tombraider 4 is something else. The fact that the Level Editor's exe is called tr4.exe is only because i is based on the same engine. But it is not the same. Do NOT mix both because that won't work.] It just flashes a blank screen then dissapears and sends me back to the internet. ["sends you back to internet"??? FGS, what are you doing?] The last time I downloaded it, I had it for about a week and a half and it started to do the same thing. [all by itself? ] I'll probably just buy a cheap copy of TR5 and get the LE from that...
[Please learn to install it the right way before you call the program stupid.
I suggest you read THIS THREAD (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=48935)]
Well, the ISO downloaded like a video or any other media (that box that has the papers flying from the world icon to the folder icon) and then it took me to WinZip to unzip some files. Apparently I didn't do this right. Luckily, my dad just baught me some CDRWs so I can copy it to a cd like everyone's suggesting. i think my dad can help me with that
P.S: I guess you've assumed I'm already young (14) and I'm not so good with the technical side of computers....
EDIT: And the Room Editor works now, I just have to click 'OK' so it can load autosave really fast. Still not sure how I could get to other files that i hadn't worked on last that the thing autosaved though.
