i visited the forums they talked about a program called bitpim got it but it does not support my dad's phone and whenever i call they're closed when i e-mail them they don't answer by the way my dads phone is a LG-C2000
Have you installed the required software for the phone?
the only thing that comes wit it is a driver cd >:(
Ok, and what did you do with it? Install the drivers? What is more on the cd? If you explore cd? :)
there is only a driver(1)and a readme that does not help
"Insert the Driver CD in the CD-ROM drive.
Plug the USB cable to the USB Port of the PC.
PC will automatically detect cable and install driver.
WINME WIN2K WINXP
Select "Install the software sutomatically"
WIN98
Select "Search for the best driver in these locations"
Browse Driver CD "win98 me 2k xp"Folder"
thats it :(
So what did you do?
Are you using WinXP?
not to be rude to you joseph or anything but you always ask me are you using xp-yes SP2
Do you expect me to remember? Sorry i don't. Every thread here is new, and who starts one is asked to provide the info again.
So, what did you do with the cd? Install automatically?
we'll a screen popped up just like the read me said and i clicked install automatically but then it said did not detect the cable when it is connected but it said driver still installed
Can you look on Control Panel > Software if you find the drivers in the list?
Also, in Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager, does the phone appear in the list?
the usb appears but the phone does not

I had a HUGE problem trying to install the cable drivers for my Nokia 6680. I solved the problem by uninstalling everything, telling Windows not to install when new hardware was found, and installing the drivers manually. I can assure you, the whole process was the biggest pain in the ass I've delt with in a long time.
Waw N6688!? (1.3MP, 3G and H-res color display)
As for LG-C2000
So are you now saying that the PC Sync (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=735962&page=2&pp=15#) software for the L1100 will work completly with the C2000 ??
When you download one of the ZIP files from the UK website (the only location it's available from that I have found: I've tried a lot, but the L1100 works the best), it contains multiple files. There are TWO primary executable programs: "LG PC (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=735962&page=2&pp=15#) Sync" and "LG Contents Bank". Once you install them on your computer (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=735962&page=2&pp=15#), they are two separate, unrelated progams. The PC Sync program lets you work with the phonebook, etc, while Contents Bank is intended for tranferring files between the phone and computor (rintones and wallpaper onto the phone, pictures off).
Currently, only the "LG PC Sync" progam will work with the phone. The "LG Contents Bank" does NOT work, so there is no way to get ringtones (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=735962&page=2&pp=15#) on or pictures off.
I hope this clears it up, and hopefully someone will come up with a means of using this functionality on our phone!
I just checked the LG website for the product description for the LG C2000, I was right, it is just for CINGULAR.
"† Cingular service required.
Product features subject to change. Features based on carrier program availability."
Those bloody bastages at CINGULAR have screwed us.

4) Installing the data cable
Next time you plug in the cable, just point it to the folder you unzipped/unrarred your drivers to and install. Now you should see "USB Data Cable" in your device manager under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and "USB Data Cable (COMX)" under "Ports", where X is the port it is assigned to. To change your port, just change it in the properties for "USB Data Cable", (under the "Port Settings" tab, click on Advanced).
how do point it
i re-read it and still does not make sense
do you have to go to control panel?
Sorry. Where did you quote from, laralives?

I'm trying to remember exactly what I did. I know I installed the cable drivers seperately from installing the PC Suite.
do you have to go to control panel?
Device Manager:

scroll down a bit where it says 4)
I quote adedude from Howardforums (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=735962&page=1&pp=15) Step by Step How to Connect to C2000
After much tinkering around, you too should be able to connect to your C2000...thanks to techpanda for some of this information. Sorry if this gets a bit technical. For those of you who are advanced enough, all you need to know is that the USB cable is basically a USB to Serial adapter.
1) Get a usb data cable.
You can get these from Radioshack (FutureDial Cable 19), or off eBay. The cable should be compatible with these phones: VI15225, VX4500, VX4600, VX6000, CE500 L1150 L1200 C1300 C1300i L1400 L1400i C1500 C2000 4010 G4010 4011 G4011 G4015 4020 G4020 G4050 A7110 F7200 F9100 F9200. Does your cable have a switch on it? Its to enable/disable charging.
2) Identify which cable you have purchased.
After plugging the cable in, you can go to Device Manager in Windows XP, and look at the properties for your Unknown Device. Go to the Details tab and under Device Instance Id, you should see something like this: "USB\VID_10AB&PID_10C5\0001". This will tell you what driver your data cable is compatible with.
3) Download the correct driver
If yours says "USB\VID_10AB&PID_10C5", then download these drivers:
http://forum.allnokia.ru/download.php?id=3809 <-- someone host this
If yours says "USB\VID_067B&PID_2303", then download the prolific drivers:
http://www.futuredial.com/support/d...ificdrivers.zip (http://www.futuredial.com/support/download/prolificdrivers.zip) <-- someone host these too please
If yours says something else, please do a search on google or yahoo, and not PM me =P. These are the only two cable I've encountered. Please post other cables/drivers here to help other people out.
5) Download and install the LG software
Get the LG PC.Sync software from the US LG website (http://us.lge.com/download/product/...145/LGSetup.exe (http://us.lge.com/download/product/file/1000000145/LGSetup.exe)). Just follow through the wizard to install it.
6) Help other C2000 users
The LG PC (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=735962&page=1&pp=15#) Sync software is the only software that will work for the C2000, and with limited functions (phone book stuff). Help other C2000 users by finding another program that will do more stuff! Perhaps we can convince the writers of BitPim to write up some code for the C2000.
Thanks for reading and good luck!
Could you be specific about what is your problem after this tutorial?
I have no experience with this, just helping to keep this thread in orderly shape. ;)

4) Installing the data cable

Now you should see "USB Data Cable" in your device manager under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and "USB Data Cable (COMX)" under "Ports", where X is the port it is assigned to. To change your port, just change it in the properties for "USB Data Cable", (under the "Port Settings" tab, click on Advanced). What is your problem with this point 4? And please could you try to be more specific anbout the steps you are taking and where you get stuck? Instead of posting "huh" and a few short sentences. Scroll back in this thread to see how we are trying to be helpful.
What is your problem with this point 4? And please could you try to be more specific anbout the steps you are taking and where you get stuck?
the part where it says "next time you plug in the usb cable just point it to"
i dont know how to "point"
Ok, i can imagine that. I assume "it" means the Windows message asking where to find the drivers. :) Usually when you connect a USB device, Windows XP notices that and says "found new hardware". Then it (Windows) asks if it shall search for drivers. That menu, you can set to your will by selecting "No, i want to search for drivers myself", then browse to the correct drivers which you will have saved somewhere on your hdd (you must know where). :)
the program says "time out" when i try to connect to the phone
please answer fast my dad says if i can't make it work today he'll return it tomorrow
I assume points 1, 2, 3 were no problem to you.
Now to point 4:
4) Installing the data cable.
Your computer is ON. Running. You are on Windows Desktop. OK?
Plug in the cable. Forget about the phone itself for now. Just the cable first.
Wait untill Windows notices a new hardware device.
It will show a little icon near the Windows clock in the system tray. OK?
Double-Click on that icon. A menu will show up to search for drivers. With the "Browse..." button, direct the menu to the folder you unzipped/unrarred your drivers to, select the XP drivers in that folder and click OK to install.
If this went correct, open Device Manager (Control Panel > System > Hardware > button Device Manager), and under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" you should see "USB Data Cable" and under "Ports", you should see "USB Data Cable (COMX)" where X is the port it is assigned to. (To change your port -if necessary- , just change it in the properties for "USB Data Cable", under the "Port Settings" tab, click on Advanced)
Then you:
5) Download and install the LG software
Get the LG PC.Sync software from the US LG website (http://us.lge.com/download/product/...145/LGSetup.exe (http://us.lge.com/download/product/file/1000000145/LGSetup.exe)). Just follow through the wizard to install it.
Then you plug the phone onto the cable and it should work now. :)
okay the cable is there but the port ain't
Which ports do you see in the list? Name them all please.
Intel(R)82801EB USB Universal Host Controller-24D2
Intel(R)82801EB USB Universal Host Controller-24D4
Intel(R)82801EB USB Universal Host Controller-24DE
Intel(R)82801EB USB2 Enhanced Host Controller-24DD
USB Data Cable
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
Which ports do you see in the PORTS list please. What you are showing is the USB list.
Communications Port(COM1)
ECP Printer Port(LPT1)
USB Data Cable(COM4)
USB Data Cable(COM4) is the one. :)
Step 4 is finished. On to next steps. :)
Now you:
5) Download and install the LG software. Have you already done this?
Get the LG PC.Sync software from the US LG website (http://us.lge.com/download/product/...145/LGSetup.exe (http://us.lge.com/download/product/file/1000000145/LGSetup.exe)).
and not to offend or annoy i have 7 minutes before bed time
Hurry up then.
Doubleclicked the exe and followed through the wizard to install that LG software?
When you installed the software,
you plug the phone onto the cable (which is still connected to the pc) and put the phone ON. :)
Does the phone appear in Control Panel? :)
Or in: Control Panel / System / Hardware > tab Device Manager > Device Manager list?
It should show up on one of these two places. I am not certain exactly which one (i have never had a phone connected to pc, so i am totally improvising this help to you, following my logic).
and no.
bye i have to go my mom said its time for bed because i got school tommorrow any way
thanks
Oh. :( Your mum is right. Sweep well laralives. :wve:
Hopefully someone else with more details will have replied to this thread tomorrow. :)
Seems not, laralives. :( Is this such a difficult issue then? For me it is, because i have never connected my mobile to the pc. But if i would have, i already learned that different brands have different issues.:hea:
What happened to your cable? Did your Dad return it to the shop?
im closing this thread because my dad returned the cable:(
Couldn't they give support in the shop?
