Hi, folks!
I still got an original Voodoo2 board working in my PC. (good old days *g*)
So is there a possibilty to run TR1 using this Voodoo2 under Win XP? (VdmSound already runs fine)
I know there is the solution of just using Glidos, but I'd rather use my real Voodoo board.

I'd be glad, if anyone knows how to get it to work:
What "tomb.exe" do I need and how can a run a Glide driver under XP (if at all)?

Thanks!

Hi Skinner, welcome to the forum http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

Well, you need the glide version of TOMB.EXE file that may be downloaded from here (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr1/fixes.html). You also may need Glidos (http://www.glidos.net/download.html?lang=en) and Tomb Raider XP Installer (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/headlines1440.html) http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

You may read this article (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/windowsxp.html) for more information about running TR1 under Windows XP

Thanks, admin.
I've already read about glidos, but I'd rather use my original voodoo2 board than buying software to emulate it.

I've heard of "voodoofiles", where selfmade drivers are offered. Maybe somebody has tested one succesfully with TR1? I've tried several with no success but damage to my XP.

Well, the last solution I could think of, would be installing a Win98 partition and using 98's Glide drivers.

However, I hoped to get it to work under XP...
Thanks for any help.

Skinner, Glidos is a DOS emulator specifically targeted at Glide games. You still need a Glide wrapper (like OpenGlide) or a real Voodoo card for it to run. You can give it a try and see for yourself if it works better than under XP's legacy DOS emulation -- which is almost certain ;)

Thanks for any answers.
I've figured out a better way:
Here's what I've done:
I created a new partition with Win 98, and let a bootmanager switch between my WinXP and this Win98 partition.
Advantage?
Well, under Win98 I can use my 3D Blaster Voodoo 2 Card with its original glide drivers. My SB Live is also supported by Win98 and compatible to a SB16.
In short: TR1 now works with full sound, music and 3dfx graphics, just like it did 7 years ago.
No need for bying glidos or messing around with glide drivers for XP. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/clown.gif
