The loyalist AMD users are under constant attack by the larger and more powerful Intel. AMD wins in quality and performance, Intel wins in marketing and market share.

Which one do you choose?

AMD Athlon 2000+ in my machine :)

No it doesn't, Intel wins over AMD in about as many tasks as AMD beats it at.

I use whatever I can get, I'm not fussed as long as it works quick. Just don't put a Celeron near me.

The only solid advantage Intel has technically (unless you get into the extras they include to jack up the price) is brute force processing. And that only because of the clockspeed.

Intels run too hot, are OCed at the factory (which is why Intel doesnt recommend you OC), run poorer, and just generally waste your money.

AMD is more reliable, less expensive, and frankly unless you do a lot of number crunching...superior.

Somehow I just don't think you want to hear any praise for Intel. :p "What's your favourite? If you say Intel I'll tell you you're wrong"

Lol, you said I was wrong :p

Intel runs a great business, very successful, but most of their success is how the company operates and sometimes luck. AMD has been supplying the better processor since the days of Pentium III, they just dont have the market clout to beat Intel in the Tech Wars straight out. So they went into guerrilla warfare and picked up the tech elite with hard numbers.

And frankly, even if the two processors were identical performance wise...why on earth would you pay 60-80% more for an Intel?

I build computers for friends, and businesses.
In the last dozen or so comps I made, only one has been Intel.

Here at work, there are two AMD 64 bit 3000+ (socket 754) computers, the third is a hand-me-down from my techy brother which is an Intel. It is the slowest in the office, but has the highest GHz rating.

My home comp is a 64 bit 3000+ that I built two years ago. It still runs very strong.

The AMD socket 939 CPUs rock!
