XP without Glidos?

It seems by using the installer you can run TR1 on XP without GLIDOS but I can't get it to happen. I can get to the title screen after a few 'enters' (the videos don't run) but it's white and static.

Has anyone managed to tun it without GLIDOS, and if so how'd ya manage it? Thanks.

Well, I myself don't recommend to use software-mode under XP. I managed to run TR1+Gold in SW-mode with the FMVs and with all sounds (by using VDMSound), with no problem, but the game used to freeze after a while, fully rhapsodically, even if I tried the compatibility modes...
