View Full Version : The music in TR1
Does anyone else agree that the music in TR1 makes the game what it is?
For instance, in the very first level, when you run down that flight of steps into the room with the wovles and that seriously bad ass music comes on which makes the situation that extra bit better. Damn, the music even freaked me out some times, at one point it even stopped me from playing the game I was that freaked out by it.
Yea so I reckon the music adds to the overall brilliance of the game and without it the game would seem very different..What do you guys think?

I had been playing the musicless PC version since I was seven. I recently bought the PS1 version and was amazed at all the music I had missed out on.
Was there ever a musicless pc version?
Or did your mom and dad have no soundcard and speakers to their pc.
Joe_16 I agree with you. I still get the shivers by the music of TR1. Did you know you can play the TR1 cd just as audio cd?

I have an early version of TR1 PC that has absolutely no music at all, except for on the title screen.

I hate that hollow echo-like sound in the begining levels, and the Tomb of Quolopec scared me a lot.
As for the TR theme, TR1 got it perfect. The only other game close to making it so beautiful was TRLR. I actually copied it off the disc and listen to it all the time.
3 links theory........TR1 had red book audio. Which I belive requires the CD roms audio cable to be hooked up to the sound card. More than likely your PC doesn't have it hooked up. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I like the music in all of the tomb raider games, but i agree that the music in the first one is good.

To bad they don't have the music on CD. Would love tohave a copy just to listen.
Cool, I thought I was the only one drawn in by the music. Glad I'm not alone.

HezWelcome Hez! Whew, I havent visited this forum for ages!
Hez, do you have the Playstation TR1? If you do, you can use Roxio CD Burner to convert the music files to WAV format and listen to the music from your computer. If you want to make a CD, you can use Musicmatch to convert the WAV files to Mp3 and then burn all the files to a CD-R. Good luck!
P.S. I don't think the audio files are available on the PC version, not sure.

Marcus Trogen did a wonderful adaptation of the TR theme, called "The Lady". If anyone's interested, it can be found here (http://www.marcustrogen.com).

Heh. Theres no need to rip the audio tracks and convert them to a WAV format or burn them to a CD if you want to play them on an ordinary domestic music CD player, just pop the PC or PSX CD in the drive and hit Play, the music is from track 2 onwards. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
