Okay, I don't know how to clear my internet cache with AOL. I tried using AOL's 'help', but guess what, it was very unhelpful. Anyways, I stumbled across a folder that said 'CACHE', and it had a bunch of thumbnails in it... I have no idea what they are, but they appeared to be names of a bunch of screen names we have for AOL. I didn't see any way to delete them, I searched through all of the dropdown menus available.

Can anyone help? :(

I googled:

From the 'My AOL' menu, on the AOL toolbar,

Click 'Preferences', Then Click 'WWW'

Look for the 'Temporary Internet Files'

Click 'Delete Files', then click 'OK'.;

That should clear your cache and give you a fresh start.

Hope that works for you. :wve:

Thanks Net, I found 'My AOL', but I couldn't find any 'Preferences' or 'WWW'. I checked the page it brought me to thoroughly, but still couldn't find it. I'll keep looking.

I'm not sure if AOL uses IE's cache. But you could try clearing that. Go to Control Panel/Internet Options and you'll find the required buttons on the first 'General' tab.

Nope, that won't work. IE has a separate cache than AOL. It says if you clear AOL's cache, IE's will be cleared as well.

Which tells me it uses the same cache.

OK on the various search result we have essentially the same location, but with varying names. So, try this:

How To Clear Your AOL 9.0 Browser Cache

From the horizontal toolbar at the top of your screen, click on:
Settings - A box appears called "Settings: Essentials".
Click on Internet [Web] Options - this will launch a window called "AOL Internet Properties".
Click on the 'General' tab.
Click on "Delete Files" to clear the cache.
Click OK.

Alright, now that I clicked on Settings > Internet [Web] Options, I got this. I see no Internet Properties or General tab here.

What a nightmare AOL is. OK, I found this on their site;

Clear the Browser Cache

Websites download pictures and files to your computer in order to display them properly. These files are known as browser cache or Temporary Internet Files. Eventually these files may become damaged and cause pages to load incorrectly, or they may just build up and clog the browser, needing to be cleared out. Deleting the browser cache will also clear the TopSpeed™ cache in AOL® 9.0 Optimized and higher versions of AOL® software.

Note: Depending on the number of stored files, clearing the cache may take a few minutes.

To clear the browser cache using AOL® System Information:
1. Close the AOL software.
2. Click the Start button, select Programs or All Programs, select America Online, then click AOL System Information.
3. Click the Utilities tab. On AOL® 9.0 Security Edition, this is located on the left side of the AOL® System Information window.
4. To clear the cache on different versions of AOL software:

* If you are using AOL® 9.0 Optimized SE or lower: Click the Clear Browser Cache button until the Current Cache Size is 0 KB.
* If you are using AOL 9.0 Security Edition: Next to Current Cache: click the Clear button. The number next to it should show 0 MB.

5. Click the Close button.

I've used AOL a few times on other peoples PC's, I hated every minute of it, they like to complicate everything, I'm sure its a ploy to make money on their customer help lines :D
