....if she ever quits.

Anneka Rice
Advantages - When she was in 'challenge Anneka', she would have had plenty of practice running around abandoned castles looking for clues to obscure puzzles

Disadvantages - She wouldn't have four stiffs giving her the answers over the intercom in Tomb Raider, and I don't think she and Zip would share much on-screen chemistry.

Charlette Church
Advantages - It's very rare you find someone who can compete with Lara in both finance and breast size

Dis-advantages - Her lack of maturity might initially condemn her to an unexciting sequal slicing up pigs with Von Croy.

Dawn French
Advantages - With the miracles of modern CGI, surely even porkies like Dawn can be seen to be walking tightropes and shimmying up drainpipes. Good thing too, because she is a good actress.

Disadvantages - It isn't yet standard procedure in the NHS to include steak and kidney pies in their medi kits.

Avril Lavigne
Advantages - Anything to get her off godamm MTV!

Disadvantages - If the plot from TR1 was ever transferred to the big screen, Miss Lavigne might have trouble bringing herself to shoot the sk8ter boi

The woman who plays Betty Eggleton in Emmerdale.
Advantages - Our Betty has a talent for gossiping, and I've heard that such a skill will soon come in handy around the streets of Paris and Prague.

Disadvantages - Might have to leave the film set at irregular intervals in order to go home and check that Seth hasn't blown the house money down at the bookies.

The cheeky girls (either one of them)
Advantages - If one got injured, the other could take over and no-one would notice.

Disadvantages - I don't think the phrase 'touch my bum' would be a sensible thing to say to most of the goons Lara bumps into.

Carol Vorderman
Advantages - Despite recently admitting to only getting a third class degree at university, Carol would surely be great at diciphering all those ancient manuscripts.

Disadvantages - Being a Leeds dweller, I'd have to risk bumping into Richard Whitely at the cinema if Carol were to become Lara. The thought of the 50 something countdown presenter hunched at the back of an Odean auditorium with a bag of popcorn and a cheesy grin, is enough to put me off TR movies forever.

The woman who plays Hayley Cropper in Coronation Street.
Advantages - In these Metal Gear inspired days of action adventure, Hayley would surely bring a new meaning to the word 'stealth'.

Disadvantages - Chris Barrie would be too nervous around her to play his part with a straight face

The woman who has Wyclef Jean under contract in the mobile phone advertisement
Advantages - Like Lara, here is a woman who sees what she wants and gets it

Disadvantages - Her casting could alienate all male viewers with a pulse.

Boudicca
Advantages - History would argue that this woman was the most kickass female warrior of all time, killing hundreds of men during a decade long revolt aginst tyranny. If scientists could figure out a way to clone her, she would surely make a striking Lara Croft.

Disadvantages - Took her own life when the odds got too stacked up against her. If Lara had done that in the pyramids then we wouldn't be getting a 6th game.

if AJ quits, so should LC. thats they way i see it. as for replacements, i dont think they would be able to fit the shoes of LC good enough for people to watch it. i mean AJ has done so well and LC has big boots to fill.

im afraid i dont know many of these as im in aus. how the hell would avril fit??? not likely, the stupid punk. does anyone know about that incident with her and the music reporter?? and whether its true or not.

possibly a digital movie would do be able to work. like FF (Final Fantasy), which was done well. they would be able to use the 3d studio max models and work with them to produce a movie that would live up to the TR expectations us fans have, but as for a REAL replacement... NEVER, i say.

AJ 4 EVA!!!!!! :D :D :D

Ha ha Scottlee!
I could just imagine Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders doing a send up of Tomb Raider, with Dawn as Lara!!! (well, they did a great Titanic send up!).
I agree with Duffman though, in that it would be hard to replace the brilliant Angelina Jolie.

I remember hearing before Angeline Jolie was casted that there was rumors of casting Julia Roberts or Catherine Zeta Jones as Lara Croft (thank god they didnt go with them)..Although i think if they ever needed to find someone to replace Angie, they could maybe go with Jessica Alba she fits the "look" pretty good! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I dont think he was being serious, Duffman, just for ****'s and giggles. :D

Howabout Anna Nicole-Smith(dripping with sarcasm)!?

I agree with Fritz that Jessica Alba would do a great job, but she almost looks too younge for the part. She could possibly play scenes for a younge lara? I think that Catherine Zeta-Jones would play the part well, however.

In my opinion, though, they knew what they were doing when the casted AJ for the part. She did absolutely fantastic, and looks the part so well.

No need to speculate on this...unless TR movies are going to end up like the James Bond franchise and be never ending...not that there is anything wrong with that, James Bond is the best and always will be...

one rumor i heard for the spot of LC was the chick from the TV show ER, the english chick with the reddish hair (don't know her name).

This person was actually semi-cast for the position at one time. by that i mean she was in real contention and did some photo shoots with TR gear on (saw this on ET).

I agree with smylez, Catherine Zeta Jones would have been a good pick, although AJ proved to do a great job.

Nice shorts, Miss_Lara!!
I don't think I'd want to see AJ replaced. I couldn't imagine anyone else being nearly as good.
I read somewhere that Elizabeth Hurley was on the shortlist, can you imagine that?? I can't stand that woman. She can't even act!!
Nell McAndrew? She was a Lara model once, and she was rumoured to play Lara, but I can't see it somehow.
And what about Jill de Jong, the new official Lara? Does anyone lese but me think she looks naff all like Lara?
Nah, stick with AJ - she way the best!!

If you go back and look at the conceptual drawings in that tech manual they made for the movie, it seems like angelina just fit the part.
