Hi everyone, :wve:
i have a question about the Graphic Card requirements for TRLegend. on http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr7/tech_specs.html it says the optimal reqirements are: 512MB 3D Accelerated Card (Nvidia GeForce 7800 / Ati X-1800).

Now i have seen the ATI X-1300 and X-1600 with 512 MB at a good price in a store. Are those cards good enough too or only the GeForce 7800 and Ati X-1800? (I don't have a PCIexpress slot but i have all other optimal requirement).

thanks guys :D

Have a look at these comparison charts to get an idea of the performance. As you will see the 1300 is running at the lower end and you might be better off with a slightly older card with more performance.

AGP Chart (http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/07/05/vga_charts_vii/page5.html)

There are other interesting articles relating to graphics cards that might help you decide.

GodOfLight, in AGP platform there is actually only one best choice: 7800GS (http://www.komplett.nl/k/ki.asp?sku=317794) :) No 512MB versions for AGP available. Also, no ATI 1xxx series for AGP. ;)

The "optimal requirements" are just what it says...optimal. thats the cards that will be able to play Legend with all on max and with some AA on too at high resolutions. and thats for those who has graphics cards for $500+
dont think too much about the 512mb numbers.
there is no point in having a X1300 or X1600 card with 512mb anyway...
thats just a PR stunt, to make them seem better.
X1300-series are very low-end cards, and X1600-series are mid-end.
512mb doesnt really matter if the graphics card isnt better then GF6800 or X800.
most times 512mb cards only differs performance wise from 265mb cards when their running at 1600x1200 resolution with Anti-Aliasing On.

i suggest u get one of these cards. :wve:

GeForce 6600 GT (only 128Mb & 128bit!) for ~$149

GeForce 6800 GS for ~$199

GeForce 7800 GS for ~$299

[Optimal for you would be... ]
EVGA e-GeForce 7800 GS CO SUPERCLOCKED for ~$349-$399
(overclocked from 375Mhz/1200Mhz to 460Mhz/1350Mhz)

Thats good cards for an AGP system. :wve:

thanks so much for your help guys

i ended up getting the GeForce 6600 card because it was the only one i could afford at the moment lol.

it's not the GeForce 6600 GT though like you mentioned nomedo. they had that at the store, but the guy there told me that that would overheat my computer quite a bit due to overclocking. so, since my computer is already regularly overheated, i ended up going with the normal GeForce 6600. will this still be alright? and will legend and lara still look somewhat beautiful? :D

otherwise, if i should really have the GT one i could always still take it back to the store and return it since i haven't built it in yet... and get myself a fan for my overheated computer ;) what do you guys think?
