I bought this for $70.00--easily worth it, for the best "controller" ever made for a video game! Gamespot gives it a 9.0 out of 10.0! 30 classic and some newer rock tunes to play, plus a bunch of unlockable songs... gameplay-wise you try to progress from garage band to arena-rock legends! How cool is this??? :D

They have this set up in every Best Buy and a lot of the game stores around where I live... LOL, you can't go in there anymore without hearing someone trying to play "Smoke On The Water", "Iron Man" or "Take Me Out"... the always seem to be on those songs when I'm there! I'm going to start playing it seriously this weekend. :D

What’s the idea, do you have to press the corresponding coloured buttons on the fret in time with the game, or do you have to strum in time as well?

What’s the idea, do you have to press the corresponding coloured buttons on the fret in time with the game, or do you have to strum in time as well?

You do both, as you would with a real guitar. As you can probably see there's no strings, just a "strum bar" down below; as you hold down the colored button you flip the strum bar. The games' difficulty ramps up slowly, so just go through Easy and then move on to more advanced techniques and harder songs. I haven't done much with it yet as I just got it but everyone I've seen playing was having a blast--that's why I had to buy it!
