View Full Version : Palace of Midas Level on TR1- I think...
I think Palace of Midas is the level this is in-where there's a large gold statue in one of the rooms? ANyway, you were supposed to find I believe 3 gold bricks to pass to the next level- well Im having trouble finding them! I think I've found two- so if anyone could just say where they are all located it would be a major help! Thanks a lot!
That's a bit too complex because it's quite a large area. You have to find three LEAD bars, then you have to change them into gold to progress. You will find a detailed walkthrough on Stella's site HERE (http://www.tombraiders.net/stella/)

Greetings Hally. Welcome to the forum. You'll also find another very detailed walkthrough HERE (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr1/walkthrough.html) which should certainly get you past this point. Alternatively one of our members might be able to suggest others ways to advance.
Enjoy your stay with us. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

Welcome to the forum, Hally Jay http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif
One of the main areas in this level is a big room in the middle of which there is a platform with five switches, and on the walls around it there are some doors. You have to pull the switches in various combinations so as to open each one of the doors in turn. Behind three of the doors, there are rooms with various traps/puzzles that you have to pass/solve so as to find the lead bars. Then you must find the switch that opens another area near the pool, which (the area) is the garden of Midas - behind it, it's the statue that will turn the bars to gold.
Thanks guys! Stella's site really helped me out! I"m now in the Cistern and having good luck except I keep getting killed by Pierre- the walkthrough suggests just getting behind him and he'll run away, but this doesn't seem to work for me- and he never seems to be affected by our shoot outs! Any other ways to get rid of Pierre?
...a voice from the darkness.....
Draw the Magnums first. And then try to be very close to Pierre..as close as You can. He is fast enough (not like some thugs from TR2 for instance), but Lara is even faster. Use the ROLL button (END) often to get Lara away from his guns to his back. What the walkie suggested is right, but the ROLL button really helps You to manage that. Pierre is easy, belive me..but later there will be a cowboy for instance..he will be enough hard and Lara will be able to use only Her pistols against him...
BTW, in "The Cistern", sometimes I used to let Pierre be where he appears last..and then I release the water again... And then I say to him.."fancy a swim?"... ;)
Don't give up, and good luck! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

And then leaving Pierre for the crocs... :D

Roll, that's what I do too SYS, so much easier. And as for the cystern, I just leave him in the first room he appears in - then he doesn't reappear in the others.
Well, well, TR-Player's favourite level - The Cistern http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif

Yes, if you flood the area too early, it's difficult to finish it (you must go back to let the water out) . But, i think it's brillian level: there is nasty Pierre, lot of puzzles and great secrets ;)
the cistern is one of the most beautifull levels in all the TR saga, my favorite one is india in TR3, just beautifull,,,and the main theme in indian music...wow,,,! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

There are too many doors to unlock, too many keys to find, too many rats biting your feet, too many crocs attacking (and how fast they can run on dry land!) http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif

have you ever heard of the tale of King midas? he got to greedy and everythig he touched turned gold, Food, drink Etc, he was happy until he touched his daughter and she turned gold, what is the relevance of this i hear u ask well, if you read the above posts like the replier said u need to find 3 lead bricks and turn them gold.
look around the gaming area, look high and low, if u do it right u will have 3 golden bricks
Yes, hence the term The Midas touch. In reference to Midas' daughter, stand Lara on the hand and see what happens to her.
See? It's this level and the same part again with the gold bars - always this that people get stuck on. Though Hally Jay, if you haven't even found a single bar yet, LOL! Where and what have you been doing in the level?! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif

(I think they cloned her and placed her on King midas' hand and put the clone in cleopatras's lost palaces! LOL J/K)

However, this aside the Cistern still a darn fine level.
Now back to Midas.....

Any other ways to get rid of Pierre?I'm fairly sure there are plenty of ways to tackle this level, for example, you don't have to run in to where Pierre is but enter that room another way (when you've flooded the place and swim up thru the grate? I doubt he'll be there then) - just think outside the square ;)
OMG!! Look at that! I have dots!! Woohoo - and I was beginning to think nobody loved me! :D http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif Who dotted me? Who? Who? Thanks to the lovely person who thinks I'm "above average, but not perfect" :D
