March 30, 2006 - It's WrestleMania 22 in Chicago, Illinois this weekend and to help celebrate the occasion, the folks from Yuke's, THQ, and WWE are going to make a special announcement tomorrow evening. To be revealed at the annual Superstar Challenge prior to this weekend's festivities (which includes the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony and WrestleMania itself), the announcement will officially confirm the next iteration of the WWE videogame family, WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2007.

In addition to confirmation that the game is coming to stores later this year, the most interesting piece of information actually relates to the systems on which the game is coming out -- which embrace PlayStation 3 and XBox 360 versions besides the expected PS2 and PSP SKUs.

This move not only marks the first time in the franchise's history that a SmackDown title will appear on two system generations at once, but also, the first time that the game will be headed to a platform other than one created by Sony.

These are very early screens, BTW... but they've got the character models down pretty good already... at least Cena and Rey!

This is the first article I've seen, so no info on that... it looked like she was going to be more active on TV a while back but her role hasn't been very big, so I'm not sure if they'll want to put her in. We may get Vince and Shane though! One thing I hope they take advantage of is the online possibilities... it would be great if they would offer new wrestlers on XBox LIVE Marketplace and on whatever Sony is going to offer for PS3 online! Then the roster could be officially expanded with high-quality character models--and maybe fans could easily trade created wrestlers too!

Yes, but then, others might see it unfair if that was to happen. I wouldn't mind. I would probably get connected on-line with it for that reason! :vlol:

Not a huge fan of Shane, but LOVE Vince! "YOUR... FIIIIIRRRREEEEEDDDDD!" :vlol: That line is so legendary.

Although, I thought it totally sucked the way you could only unlock Jake "The Snake" Roberts via the PSP! :mad:

omg cant wait!!! i sooo hope lita is in this game the last game sd vs raw 2006 with her in was ace. cant wait for mania on sunday too i hope lita leaves edge and mikkie james beats trish for the title. trish has had that title way too long infact its a year and 6 months since shes had the title! mikkie deserves it or they should have lita screw both of the over and let her have her title rematch she is intitled to

I didn't even think how cool the entrances will be! Hopefully they'll include create-an-entrance so you can take songs off your hard-drive and use them. I want the "real" themes--and sometimes THQ can't use them in the game, like how they don't have the classic NWO theme for Hollywood Hogan in 2006.

its funny that you mention Tori, she started with a storyline, that Mickie James is mirroring (except she's obsessed with Trish rather than Sable) i think the WWE writers are running out of ideas

Yeah, Tori was who got me into wrestling. Tori vs Sable at Wrestlemania 15 was the first match i ever saw! I dunno, it was something about her, i dunno what. Even though she lost the match, she should have one, the crowd were rooting for her. She never got the Women's title either!
