View Full Version : A question on gamepads/controllers
Hi all
I know that you can get playstation game controller adaptors that allow you to play PC games with your psx controller, but what I'd like to know is, can you assign one move to two buttons like you can for the psx version? For example, for Lara to sprint, you have to hold down R2 and forward direction button and to dive press square button, or to duck and crawl is L2 plus forward, yet I can't assign two buttons to one movement using a psx lookalike controller, but can I using a psx controller plugged in to the PC?
Try posting in the Tech help forum ;)

Where is the tech help forum?
Scroll down the main forum page (where you see the list of the indivdual forums), and you'll see Technical Support, second from the bottom http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Cheers Ears! I have done that - hopefully I'll get an answer soon as I'd like to buy TR3 for the PC but it's a bit tedious when you can't make her do a single side-step!
Incidentally, I don't think you can assign to two buttons, but tech people might know a way you can. Why don't you configure side step for one button? Or just buy a controller with more buttons if you haven't got enough (I'm assuming that's why you want to configure two buttons)?
I played TR games on the psx, and have bought a psx lookalike PC gamepad, I'm using to using that configuration to play the games and would like to keep using it, but when playing TR on psx, two buttons are assigned to one move, e.g. sidestep is walk + left or right arrow - but my psx lookalike controller cannot configure two buttons to one move, so wonder it I'll have the same problem with psx controller if it's adapted to the PC.
Try this small program. I use it for TR1 which doesn't work with my gamepad and it works great. Lets you configure gamepads anyway you want.

Wow! I can't believe this thread is still here! Anyway, some months later I have bought a psx/pc converter and I can't play either TR or TR2 with it - blah! (Can configure TR6 ok though) I'll try your link, thanks Alchemy! :D
Downloaded that programme - fascinating....haven't got a clue how to configure it and instructions are not very clear, the cursors moves the arrow along nicely, um, but gamepads do nought - help!
Jenni. Just like Neteru said, you should have posted in tech forum. Or read more in other forums, so you could encounter this thread (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=5;t=000226) about the same problem http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif
here's another thread (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=11;t=001203) ...
If this doesn't help, i suggest you start another thread in the Technical Support Forum (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=11) , hopefully Sparky will pop in and help you because he has experience with that thing.
No, neither thread helped, they're both stuck too. And I posted it here as I want to be able to play TR, I can play TR2 and TR6 with one of my gamepads at least, but neither work for TR at all.
Jenni, why do you say both threads are stuck? This one (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=5;t=000226) isn't. Sparky's problem was solved... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/privateeye.gif
The reason why you'd better post your question in the Tech Support forums, is because it is a TECHNICAL problem, not a gameplay problem.

Well they didn't solve the problem for me, with Sparky's thread, his was an overloaded lappy, I'm still where TR simply won't let me assign buttons, nor will TR2, but I can in TR6, so it's not my gamepad, it simply won't work on those other two games. What's more, if was only you who replied to him in his thread, one person - and as you're already here, I don't see any point in starting yet another thread in another area.
And further to that, you didn't moan at him once about having his thread in the wrong category, in fact, I love his last post: "Yes i know that, so maybe i could of installed the patch wrong, and actually i have just noticed i have posted this in the wrong thread, i have TRLR not Artifact! "
