plait? without it lara is not complete, it is a part of her
that identifie's her (as much as her double gun's,her bot's
& her backpack...

Lara first appeared the way she's in TR1 - with the little bun. Maybe her hair wasn't that long at that time, so she couldn't tie it up in a plait http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Actually her hair is long enough and she has the trademark plait (as seen in FMVs), but it's more practical for her to tie her hair up in a bun while raiding tombs. It wouldn't be very pleasant if some mummy or demon were to grab her by the plait, now would it? :D

Or, to say it shortly, the gorgeous long ponytail that dances in the wind was a little beyond the 3D graphic abilities of the long-ago 1996.
