I hated the sounds too xD When I heard the groan, I'd be like... "Oh no... not them!" and when I heard the scream, my heart'd give a little jolt.
What I hate even more is the wierd centaur-mutant things. Ew. :(
Even the centuars sounds like 'Urrrrgh'? And what about that big mutant boss in the great pyramid level and that atlantian that mocks everything Lara does? They sound the same?

i don't remember what the centaurs sounded like. i think they made a lot of hoof noises as they ran around.
the big mutant with no legs? he makes kind of a dinosaur noise every once in a while. mostly you just hear the pounding of his fists as he drags himself around.
as for the atlantian that mocks lara? around here she's known as "bacon lara" and she's been my girlfriend for a few months now. :D she makes no noises at all. not in the game or when we're out on the town.

They are awful things, I am constantly on my guard when exploring this area, half-expecting one to creep up behind me! I can't stand anything that jumps out on me, it makes me extremely nervous!!

I'm ashamed to say that my hands shake and my palms get really, really sweaty when having to deal with the Atlanteans... they absolutely terrify me. Just that *footstep*....*footstep*...*footstep*.... 'uuuuuugggggggghhhhhhhh' makes my blood run cold...
I remember the first time I saw one... 'What that?' I mused from up high. 'I know - I'll shoot it and inspect it's corpse...'
BOOM!
After that, I was a nervous wreck for the whole level. And after pushing that block on the high ledge (I now do it the long was round, meaning that it doesn't leap out at me!) and being essentially bull-rushed off the platform by one... that was it. Asylum time. But the worst thing? The worst thing is there aren't actually that many of them in the first Egypt level after that! First time I wandered into the Cat Sanctuary, I stayed away from the Cat Statue for about an hour, convinced it was going to change into one of those monstrosities and screech at me!

omg! i did the same thing. i was just waiting for that thing to come alive and throttle me. i refused to turn my back to it. after those freaking centaurs in tomb of tihocan burst out of statues, i lost all trust for things that were seemingly inanimate.

Those ******* statues... after my heart had slid back down into my chest (it was in my mouth for quite a while!) and the air had reverted back to be being clear (it was definitely blue after all the shocked expletives I was uttering at the time), I vowed never to trust anything in the TR universe again - not even the inanimate things.
Brrrrrr... I've got goosebumps just thinking about it!
