I've managed to eventually get the game working with sound on XP, thanks to the advanced installer and dgvoodoo (thanks people!), but I've got the Sold-Out version with no music, and was just wondering, is it possible to create an ISO image of the CD with the audio tracks on it rather than burning an actual CD? Thanks.

No. You need a mixed mode CD in the drive to play the game.

See Audio Fix for Sold Out version (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/faq/traudio.html)

Well, yes it is possible. I used the program UltraISO which allows u to make a mixed mode image. My main problem was to decode the wma-tracks, but that's another story... :-)

Ok I'll have a look at that then...decoding the wma-tracks - do you need to do that to do the mixed mode image or was that just something else you were trying?

Is it possible/fairly straight forward to get TR 3 and TR 5 (Chronicles) to work on XP? I just want to check before buying them...

ianpwilliams. We run all our TR games on XP.

Visit our WindowsXP patches and updates page (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/windowsxp.html). :)

I needed to decode my tracks before making the image, without the decoding, they got corrupted by some reason. But it worked perfectly once done. Much better to play with the fixed audio. :-)

Muyfa - ISO image format does not support mixed-mode (audio/data). What exactly you're trying to do?

I never said anything about ISO. The program is named UltraISO, but the format I use is of course BIN/CUE.

Said it here. I thought you were making an ISO image. My mistake :)

Aha. My mistake also, I thought he meant to make an image generally.

Muyfa666 how did you get your TR1 working with the ISO image exactly?
Did you use a mixed mode image or an audio image with the real CD?
When you decoded the WMA files what program did you use and what format did you convert them to?

I tried UltraISO and put the data in the data bit and the music in the music bit like in the help topic :

http://www.tombraiderhub.com/faq/traudio.html

but the BIN image was in the second (fake) cd rom drive, so it would just ask for the CD in the first cd rom drive...although maybe I should have had the real CD in the first drive, but then wouldn't it just ignore the second one (the BIN image)? Then I tried making just the audio BIN image for the second drive and having the real CD in the real cd rom drive (as in the above link) but there was still no music. Of course like I said above I didn't decode the WMA tracks yet, so it would be handy to know what you did/how you did it. Hope you can help.

I made a real mixed mode cd with UltraISO. I copied the data from the disk to a temp dir on my HDD, then I decoded the audio to another temp dir. Then it's straight forward. Add music to aduio section, and data to data section. IMPORTANT. You can NOT use ISO format. Go with BIN/CUE.

I decoded the WMA tracks to WAV using a program named "Alive MP3 WAV Converter V3.8.0.9". Do note that you may have to buy (register) both programs to gain full program functionality.

Also, all my TR games ask for the first cd-drive, so either disable you physical drive in device manager, or with the program DevCon (free). Or easier as I did, change your devices so that the virtual drive is the first one and the physical the second. Good luck!

Ahh ok cool thanks for that!
