As production concludes on the second of three Tomb Raider motion pictures spawned from the successful video game of the same name, online magazine Gamer.TV recently toured London's Pinewood Studios, home to Europe's largest sound stage and the Shanghai set from Lara Croft And The Cradle of Life: Tomb Raider 2.

"Inside the huge 007 sound stage, crews built two massive sets - one the partially underwater ruins of the Luna Temple and the other a volcanic plateau filled with decaying trees. It took a full crew 16 weeks to build these massive sets. Another set held the ruins of a Chinese temple, complete with an army of 60 Terracotta stone statues. The film opens with an elaborate action sequence that nearly kills Lara, which paves the way for a darker tone to this second film - a route the new PS2 game is also taking.

"But the movie and games are not working together (other than cross-promoting - a movie trailer will be on the PS2 game in February). Lara sets out to find Pandora's Box, and she must achieve a number of objectives before finding the box. Like the games, she'll go treasure hunting. Action sequences include a water chase on jet skis in Greece and a motorcycle race across the Great Wall of China."

Lara Croft & The Cradle of Life: Tomb Raider II follows the adventures of British aristocrat Lara croft sent on a perilous mission to rescue the world from the exploits of an evil Chinese crime syndicate led by oriental crime lord Chen Lo. The movie opens with an explosive underwater action scene involving the struggle for a sacred ancient spear guarded by Chen Lo's evil henchmen followed by a mission to overthrow new villain Reiss from deploying an army of biological drones to wreak havoc on the world. Movie opens July 25, 2003.
