TRL only starts once per boot

I'm having the problem with Tomb Raider Legends that when I start it the first time, it runs but when I start it a second time without rebooting the system it doesn't run, screen stays black when the Eidos text note should appear. When I reboot it runs again, but only the first time.

Obviously a problem with the video! I had the same trouble with Oblivion but there I could turn off the video in the games config.
Anyone know if it's possible to turn of the video in TRL? Or even better ... finding the source of the problem! I got Nero Suite installed and I remember dimly that there were incompabilities with other games and a codec that came with Nero. Any Ideas/Solutions?

First of all do you have all your drivers (graphics and sound cards) updated? Do you have any extra programs running in the background that could be using extra video resources?

For more info you can use this tool (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe). Run it, copy and paste (everything) in into your next post. Then we can see better what could cause it.

Yes all drivers are up-to-date. I got a ATI Radeon X850XT PE gfx card but I doubt that this has any relation. I suspect trouble with a video codec but I hope I'm wrong.
