Speakers abit funny.

Ok guys, I reinstalled Windows on my computer on Friday night and well worked great. Got my full harddrive back. And, this is on my old computer. Anyways, The speakers are strange. I mean, Whenever I'm on Windows Media Player and the little video thing when listening to music, The sound is like all strange like all blockly. Very strange. I can't live with this. It's not from the Speakers as I got new one's and they worked before the reinstallation. Maybe, it's the driver. I mean, this computer is old. It's a Tiny make. It was bought 2001 for a christmas present and well, I have it now and I want it to work.

It's Windows XP SP2. ;)

Not for the speakers but for sound card (and all the other drivers). Also, after you try everything else, you may want to try a different set of speakers. But that's after you try everything else and in case nothing will work.

Driver Installation Hints


"Download Accelerator" utilities should be disabled when downloading any drivers.
Do not run virus protection software in the background while installing the drivers. This prevents the driver from configuring itself properly.
Before installing new drivers make sure you uninstall all NVIDIA display drivers from the Windows Control Panel. Browse to the Start Menu > Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and search for "NVIDIA Windows Display Drivers" or "NVIDIA Display Drivers" and select remove.

Then you will have to download the Creative driver updates manually which will be a timeconsuming effort for you to sort out which ones exactly, because there are many slightly different models.

That's what I would love to do. But, I have no spare CD's. And, For the Creative driver's you need an internet connection to download. So, I'll wait till I'll get my Wireless Router then I'll download.

OK... one more time. You can use the computer you're on right now to download the drivers. This one has Internet since you're posting on this forum. Then copy the drivers to a thumb drive/USB drive (if you don't have any CDs) and copy them onto the hard drive of the computer without the Internet (the one you want to update the drivers). This way you'll be able to install the new drivers on the computer without the Internet.

Download Everest Home (http://www.jozefdekkers.nl/everesthome200.zip)to your dektop. Unzip (extract) the file and install.
Start the program. In the left pane you'll see a rootstructure, select any item or, via clicking on the +, any sub-item. At the right pane you'll see the details about your selection.
Now please select Devices + >>> Physical Devices in the left pane. Then in the right pane right-click any item and select Copy as Text (it will copy ALL as text). Could you post it in your next reply, so i can help you find the right driver updates. :)

Joseph, I'm still having problems. It's not helping. I've tryed everything.

Before, I installed it I could put my speakers/headset in fully and listen to it. Now, i can hear nothing. I have to put the plug in half way to listen then it falls out. It's not good.

Lara Lover, although i am sure these are the right drivers, it seems too much trouble to get it right... I think it is better to wait till you can connect the PC directly to internet. Then you can browse to the Creative support page and do the Automated Update.
Creative have stopped their support for this card, so the drivers they offer are their end-offering, take it or leave it.

You were considering spending some money on the PC, a better soundcard would be useful. And much more convenient!

Please don't look for a 2.1 card and it's [pointless. You are looking for a GOOD card that is also not expensive. :tmb:

A Creative Live! soundcard is outdated too, but 100 times better than what you have now, and still supported. And cheap.

Edit: the card is 5.1 supporting which means from stereo up to 5.1 surround.

The cheapest i can find on 'my' (:p ) online shop is Audigy SE (http://www.komplett.nl/k/ki.asp?sku=313612&view=detailed) € 29,90 . Well that's even better than the Live! card.

Oh don't worry, LL. It will fit in. The cards and PC's all follow the universal standards.

NO i don't own any shop LOL!!!! that's why i put the :p greamlin with it, because it sounded like it is my shop. I only like to link to their site because they have so much, the site is só well organised, with extensive specifications, often the best prices.
No, it's not my shop. I just bought a few things there. My ATI Radeon X1900XT comes from them. They were the first to have that card, while NO shop in my town had it yet. At the same time, my Coolermaster Power Supply i DID buy in a nearby shop, because it was €39,- cheaper than on this online shop.

the soundquality is fenomenal.
the Audigy chip does not put a load on the cpu but is selfcomputing the sound (unlike the Live! cards).
it is very well supported with the drivers
it supports every game.This SE is the light 'budget' version of the mature Audigy family.
