I've never played the PSX version of TR1 and I understand it as if the version for PSX have different audio, is this fixed with the additional audio fix for pc? Or is this a completely different matter?

The PC version has less audio tracks than the PlayStation version of Tomb Raider. This was a design decision made by Core Design at the time of the PC platforms release. The Playstation doesn't have repetetive background ambient music like the PC, but has many more audio tracks which are pleasant to hear when playing the game - gives the game much more of an atmosphere. However a project is being made where the PS1 audio will be transferred to the PC version of the game using Glidos (a Tomb Raider PC glide wrapper to force 3DFX graphics). This project hasn't been fully completed yet, but in the near future PC users will benefit the shear beauty of PS1 audio!

I personally think the PS1 audio makes the game have a different feel to it rather than the PC. The PC has a total of 9 tracks, 4 of which are ambient music tracks when playing the levels, 1 for title music and 4 for cut-scene dialog. The PS1 version has 59 tracks in which all are in-game music like secret chimes and other misc tracks, all cut-scenes and Lara's narrations in Lara's home are playable alongside other dialog.

The PS1 version of the game has trigger points in which the tracks are played for example when a pack of wolves are heading towards you in the caves then a track will play letting you know something bad is gonna happen, which also helps you quickly make a decision like run for your life or get your guns out, the PC version lacks this and you have to make the decision when you see the enemey in your vicinity.

The PC version of the game has a very lonely feel to it as it lacks music tracks but ambient music only on repeat throughout the entire game. The PS1 version is alot better however with music. Many people like the atmosphere of the PC version in it's lack of music... I for one do, I like the lonely feeling it promotes.

And for your question, the audio fix for TR1 doesn't fix the audio for PS1 to PC.

btw: The Sega Saturn version of the game also has the same music as the PS1 version. ;)

PSX was a limited edition Playstation that was only released in Japan. So there wasn't a Tomb Raider for PSX. Unless you mean PS1?

I have to say, after playing TR1 on the PS1 for so many years, swapping over the the PC (to (eventually...) play Unfinished Business) was quite a surprise - it's amazing how much more atmosphere the music in the PS1 game creates. The feeling of awe just escalates when those soaring Gregorian-style chants kick in...

If you ever do get a chance to play TR1 on th playstation, I'd say go for it, even if it is just for the chance to see how well the music fits and how it enhances the whole experience.
