I saw the movie yesterday, so I'll giving reviewing it a shot. I got the novelisation some time ago, and the two go well together: the novel has the depth and the movie has the action. I think I would not have enjoyed the movie so much without some of the book's info. I would say this movie was definitely better written than the first one. There is a lot more depth to Lara.

On the action level, Lara dealt with several people, Terry Sheridan, Chen Lo, and Reiss' chief of security, that could match her as a fighter. I preferred the individual fights to multiple or magical enemies, like in the last film. One thing about the fights: there were many of them, and it seemed to me that each one was shorter than it could have been, in order to fit them all in. Anyway, to the villains. I think Chen Lo was probably the best one of this movie. In character he was kind of like a Chinese Lara, apart from being a crook and a slimeball. Their interaction before the fight was good and entertaining.

That brings me to the one thing, or person, I really disliked in the film: Reiss, the main villain. There was no subtlety about the character or interest in his portrayal. He was just a one-dimensional "wipe out the world" bad guy. The film really deserved a more interesting main villain.

All in all, I enjoyed this movie. All Lara Croft fans should go and see it.
