Macaroni cheese with tomato and bacon sauce stuff. Took me about three hours because I'm really bad at cooking (had to do the cheese sauce three times and the pasta twice because I kept burning them...)

The end result was worth it at least though, lol.

Not counting the coffee I just made.

Last night I made Sweet and Sour Pork with steamed rice.

Like Airave I wanted to be a chef not just a cook. My mum was a cook in a Nursing Home. Over here cooks worked in pubs and in those days pub food was not good. I wanted to be a Cordon Bleu Chef but the only 2 places you could study were France or New Caledonia and I couldn't afford to move to either place. It was also nearly impossible for a woman to become a chef in those days especially a Cordon Bleu Chef.

It's a particular style of French Cooking. The Cordon Bleu school was considered to be the ultimate in cuisine. A lot of their cooking involves wine and cream. One of my favourite dishes is Escalopes of Veal in Mushroom Sauce. That is thin veal steaks panfried in butter, the steaks are removed and a sauce of mushrooms, onions, butter, brandy and cream is made in the same pan with all the pan juices, the steaks are then returned and heated through. I usually serve this on hot buttered bow tie noodles and fresh green salad.

Rose steamed rice is very good for you too. It is a much more usable source of carbohydrate than potatoes and because it digests low in the gut it can help prevent you getting bowel cancer. Tests have shown that Asians eating their traditional diet with lots of steamed rice rarely if evey get bowel cancer.
