Even though there aren't many of us here atm, I thought I would ask this:

What is the strangest thing you have ever eaten? Can be animal, vegetable, or mineral........:D

Mine is ostrich jerky.

Youve eaten SNAKE...............why?:p

Gaz....headcheese is made with pigs feet. The feet when cooked create gelatine, and my Aunt added celery, carrots and some chunks of meat. If I could get past the thought of where it origianally came from.....:jmp:

That's like staple food here in the Philippines. You can see it everywhere and it seems normal here although I've never eaten "Balut" before nor have I eaten any other strange food. I tend to "gag" at the sight of chicken so just think what strange food could do to me..LMAO! :vlol:

I've had Snake, Witchiti Grubs (raw they taste like butter), Emu, Crocodile, Kangaroo (yes I know I've eaten Skippy), Frogs Legs (They were Yummy). I have drawn the line at Balut though. My Stepmum loves it (She's Filipino) you can get it in Australia at Filipino Grocers. I don't like Snails.

I've also had Pigs Trotters Kate and I also like Lambs Tongues and Brawn.

I also like Vegemite, preferably on fresh bread.

28-04-06, 14:31
The Crocodile, Kangaroo and Emu yes I can. The butcher in the next suburb has them. Frozen unfortunately not fresh. Pigs Trotters you usually have to do yourself, my mum used to do them, they are not easy to buy now. Same goes for the Lambs Tongues but you used to be able to get them in cans. Brawn comes from the local Deli but my mum used to make her own.

Snake you can have if you want to catch it yourself just don't get caught as they are all protected over here The Witchiti Grubs you can only get outback or in a specialist restaurant. Frogs legs come in cans also. They do them like sardines. Vegemite you can get anywhere.

Ha Ha Ha. Of course I do. I don't eat the other very often at all, as it's usually too expensive. Macca's are on the second Wednesday in the month when I go to the Parrot Club Meeting. Tonight was KFC (Budgie Meeting). Tuesday night will be Burger King (Cage Bird Club Meeting).

Not that keen on beans. Love egg, cheese and bacon sandwiches with ketchup though. And I love scrambled eggs and bacon.

Either grill it myself or eat it at "Greek" Lokals.:)

You have to either cook it really fast (2 minutes
or so- just as it sets) or really slow (hours to break it
down again).

Kate, if you ever get the chance, you HAVE to give it a try. You may feel a little better about it if you consider that it probably shares a lot of its ingredients with McDonalds' hamburgers. :mis:

But it's so delicious! It's spicy and not at all lumpy or intestine-y like you'd think. Imagine porridge for carnivores.

I probably would Geck. I tried Black Pudding for the first time recently and really liked it. It's just that I remember the Tripe my mother used to try and make me eat when I was a kid and I just don't like the idea of an animals intestine which is really silly because I eat sausages and that's exactly what their skin is.

I also eat Lambs Fry (liver) but I can't stand Kidneys. There flavour is just too strong for me. Lamb's Fry with onion gravy, bacon, mashed potatoes and peas. I think I will have to get some this week.

I've eaten snails (they really are good!),
but never any insects- on purpose at least...

I made a leg of lamb roast this weekend
for the family (combined birthdays, etc)
and was surprized at the reactions...

Most said "Eeeewwww, Lamb!", but tried it
and liked it! *Proud*

Marinated it in a mix of Imiglikos wein
and fresh rosemary and other herbs.

The marinade was later reduced
with fresh mint and made into a sauce.

Was served with red French steamed potatoes
and grilled eggplant, zuchinni, peppers and mushrooms.

I don't consider this strange food, but some do *shrugs*:D

My dad has a friend who eats spiders. As in normal British house spiders.

If he see's one, he'll just pull it off the wall or whatever and eat it. They're good for you he says. Whats worse is he swallows them whole. Apparently thats what you're meant to do with them, coz if you chew them then you get a toxic substance out. I'm guessing thats why my dog throws up when she eats a spider...

The grossest thing that i've eaten is prawns that have the eyes and the shell all on them and I thought I had got it all off but I put it in my mouth to find thousands of small pink eggs on my tounge. YUCK.

I've seen spiders bigger than DLL's  Someone I know had one walking on his hand! He found it outside and decided he'd just pick it up and play with it.

I like DLL's though, I like to catch them and throw them outside, same as moths. :p

No one eats DLL's as far as I know, are you scared of spiders too Lavinder?
I used to be a little scared of DLL's but they have smaller bodies, less legs and a pair of wings! They don't scare me :p

Same as those almost transparent spiders with the tiny round bodies and really lonnnng legs. They look like something out of a Tim Burton movie! :D I call them all Henry. :p They don't scare me either but I can't pick them up yet.

Yuck, I hate spiders... The way they crawl on the wall... Ahh! And I always see those hairy brown spiders like in the grass. It is very disgusting I might say. I never used to be afraid of them, but this year, they really got to me. Maybe because I've seen about a million! And I hate the tarantulas!
