i have TR chronicles and want to use a recently bought USB gamepad to play the game--(windows XP --thanks for the patch!)
the problem is that altho the configoration menu allows me to set the gamepad buttons for use in the game it doesn't recognise the directional movement "buttons/stick"--

i read in the manual that i can selct a joystick as primary control option and then the directional buttons will default to the gamepad but can't find any way to do this so i can't use the gamepad to control movement --only the buttons work-

strangely the gamepad works perfectly in TR Legend
can any one help me out?
i can play with the keyboard of course but am very nostalgic for some old fashioned gamepad mashing tomb raider exploration

Do you have a button on your gamepad that sitches it between digital and analogue mode? Are you sure you haven't inadvertently swithed the analogue mode off?

I had this very exact problem with Chronicles. Use the util JoyToKey (google for it, free download) and you should be good to go. :-)

cheers guys--the strange thing about this is i think the answer was that i needed to leave the config screen on joystick then escape back to the game---if i went back to the keyboard screen then back into the game it switched the gamepad directional buttons off ----at least i think that was what the problem was --everything is fine now it was allmost a mini puzzle worthy of being part of game it self in a way!--if thats indeed what the heck it was!!-anyhow all's well now --am enjoying the game!

That's exactly what you needed to do CB. I didn't realise, obviously, that you were switching back to keyboard. Anyway, all's working now, thanks for letting us know. :tmb:
