View Full Version : ATI Drivers
Okay so my computer is crappy enough to get 1 FPS so i went on my dads computer and it runs fine but my dad has this ATI All in wonder 9800 SE card whcih he uses for TV since we use the other one downstairs too much. But when i play Tomb Raider Legend it looks cartoony and some of the textures are different colors etc. So i installed the lastest drivers for his card. But he had a go at me cause his TV dosent work with his card drivers? NOTE : His drivers now are from 2003! :O he installed them back when the new ones "didn't work". So what should I do, I keep telling him that they should cause there would be no point in realising them but he just cant be bothered getting them to work with his TV.
Any ideas on what i should do?
PS : I know its the drivers cause it fixed everything when i put them on.
Your dad is wrong and you are right. Absolutely. :)

hehe but i need proof because when he went on TV with the new drivers he said it didnt work well and that it stutters. He's really annoying me too much! :cen:
Of course his TV will work with the new drivers.
Maybe you had forgotten to install Microsoft .NET Framework prior to Catalyst, and then install Control Center too? Because that is where you configure monitor and TV.

hm okay i'll try that while hes at work hehe, or just tell him. Will it work if you install .NET Framework after the control center?
No. It is very simple, read the notes.
Notes:
ATI recommends Windows XP Service Pack 2 or higher (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx) to be installed.
You must have Microsoft .NET Framework (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/info.aspx?na=90&p=&SrcDisplayLang=en&SrcCategoryId=&SrcFamilyId=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&u=http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/6/7/567758a3-759e-473e-bf8f-52154438565a/dotnetfx.exe) installed prior to downloading and installing the Catalyst Control Center
The Catalyst Uninstaller (http://support.ati.com/ics/support/DLRedirect.asp?fileIDExt=050553d40196ef109fff37cbb 40aaf28&accountID=737&deptID=894) is an optional download. We recommend using this utility to uninstall any previously installed Catalyst drivers prior to installation.
Okay so the TV works but it stutters?
Could you be more specific?
Try this:
On some systems, TV-OUT may not sync properly, or shows black & white video only on a standard TV set.
The TV-OUT feature can be set manually via Display Properties for the ALL-IN-WONDER 9200SE. Please follow the steps below to change to the broadcast standard used for your television set:
Open Display Properties
Select Settings tab > Advanced button
Select ATI Displays tab
Click on the TV button
Select the Format tab, thereby choose "By Format"
Choose PAL, SECAM, or similar
Well i turn Sky on and it stutters like if your playing a game on too high graphics it slows down.
I edited ^^ Tell me if it helps. :(

Nope still slow, sometimes it goes onto the black and white fizzed thing with no picture if you get what i mean.
Hmmm... let's try other options.
Select Display Options > Display Management Options. Check ON "force tv detection".
And select "List only modes supported by all displays."
Eh.. are you in advanced mode?

Control Center won't work it says get your administrator or something
Well it shows the picture and the sound works its just that it stutters.
You are not logged in as administrator. It is your dad's PC. I think it is best to let him be the one to do this if he wants, or let him use older drivers, it's his choice.

Yeah Okay Thanks Anyway :tmb:
One more thing, How do you get back the old drivers without using a disk?
Oh, sorry for the delay.
Use the Catalyst Uninstaller (http://support.ati.com/ics/support/DLRedirect.asp?fileIDExt=050553d40196ef109fff37cbb 40aaf28&accountID=737&deptID=894) to remove these drivers completely.
Reboot the PC.
Then install any previous drivers.
Do you have a cd? Or do you want to download a previous driver?
