only maybe a 20ft drop ????
maybe the hight of the ball room ?

Tomb Raider Master

If the drop was 20' then she had to die. Maybe it was a bug. But I wouldn't bet that ballroom is that high.

It could just be a bug, or, Maybe you've got to swan dive abit lower

Hey Tomb Raider Master!
Sorry but I seem to have misplaced my savegames so it will probably not be up until tomorrow. I think I showed MMAN a clip of it once but I dont seem to have the clip left either.

EDIT. I can tell you about an easy place to try it off yourselfs tho, if you have the energy to try.

heres a screenshot (http://img434.imageshack.us/img434/1736/pic9vc.jpg) telling you from where to swan dive, you should have flushed away the water to make the jump even higher. Take a running jump and swan dive precisly at the edge, you will probably land on the edge of the "boat" or whatever it is and survive. If you are a bit short you will die however. I'ts the level Wreck of Maria Doria.
Bah the screenshot isnt very good but I'll hope you understand.

@ Lara Lover: Nah, I've tried everything. :p

@ Hest: It's OK. No need to rush. :)

I think she survived because she rolled before she hit the ground!

Ooooh aye, that's rather spooky. I've dived Lara off the blocks and ledges way lower than that and she always dies... Hmm, interesting. Maybe the game got confused coz it was so close to water? Or coz the blocks were sloping?

Same bug happened to me by accidentally in level editor, when I tested somersault swandive move. However, after that I tried to redo surving move, but it didnīt success.

i madea small video of it, the quality is bad but maybe if you watch this you can try it yourselfs. I have survived this kind of jumps on other places too, all of them accidental, one was from up near the fire wich you melt the ice with on Ice palace, or was it the level after? I tryed to do it again but alwyas died. This is the only place that I can seem to do it over and over again.

This is a bug. You can download a savegame from here: http://www.traider.pl/sztuczki/view.php?s=2 to see it is working and Lara will survive. :D

Evening Hest! :wve: Thanks for posting the video. After I saw it, I swan dived from the top of the Great Wall, rolled (which I forgot to do yesterday) and survived. Unfortunately, I didn't record a video, but I did record one in which I show another swan dive bug. I remember doing this in TR3. Download it from HERE (http://s52.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3R8F5GQBE0C1F0EMG9NAGVXKZJ). :)

I'll go and do some more business about this now. ;)

Hey Tomb Raider Master, I post a savegame wich will put Lara in a position so you can try what I recorded on the Wreck of Maria Doria.
It also works witout rolling, however it seems easier to survive if you do roll.
Download Here (http://www.sendspace.com/file/15x5yk)

Thanks for the savegame. I've tried to run and jump from the exact position in your savegame and she survived with and without rolling no problem. I've also tried to jump from the very edge and she died just like in the video I posted in my previous post.

I've also managed to record a video about what Scion was talking. Download it from HERE (http://s52.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3HQ1SYY03FI0P0DJ9HRAYRFXK0). :wve:

Very nice video! But still it's a strange bug, I wonder why you can survive sometimes. Does it have something to do with the height of the jump? Or where you land? Its a mystery :D

Tomb Raider Master
03-05-06, 20:19
I think it has something with the place where you land. As I said, I remember doing something similar to my first video in TR3 mansion. I can record it. Do you want to see it? :)

hest
03-05-06, 20:21
Oh yes please! If its not too much trouble.
Yes you might be right, becasue it only seem to work on certain spots. I wonder if these places have something in common you we could figure out where these jumps works.
First i thought it was the edge at the boat wich stopped the animation. but from watching your last video I cant see any edge like that one. hmmm mystery :D

Tomb Raider Master
03-05-06, 20:36
No trouble at all. :) You can download it from HERE (http://s52.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0UTHHN40G4WDB06FU9J7OKXW3Q). :wve: I also did this in Thames Wharf once and I'm sure it can be done at many other places. They certainly have something similar that makes our poor Lara go crazy. :D But I think it all depends on perfect position and, of course, on terrain. :)

Haha those jumps are very funny, when it takes a while for her to understand that she should die.
Hmm these jumps could be very useful in a speedrun perhaps? If somone finds a timesaving, working place to use it on.
