I dont know if this has been mentioned or not but here is the latest news I found. I guess we all have to wait for this to be confirmed by more reliable sources like Angelina herself--dont you think?
According to People news:
While the power couple lie low in Namibia, PEOPLE – with the help of a connected source – sets the record straight on the most widely circulated myths. Jolie has not signed on for Tomb Raider 3 and has no plans to play video-game heroine Lara Croft any time soon.

She is quite busy these days. I'd say even though I'm all for another Tomb Raider movie, her family and her UNHCR work are way more important than filming.

So right now weve got 2 conflicting stories....one that she is already in pre-birth training to prepare to get in shape for TR3.......the other sayig she has no plans to play Lara any time soon...........i guess on the bright side, she hasnt said an outright "No"........
I still say if she turns down TR3, Kate Beckinsale is my prime choice.....

That's right. No Angelina - no movie.
They could just ask the bloke that plays PC Plum to take on the role. I mean, he's pretty much the next best thing. :p
On a serious note, it's rather sad that Angelina won't be playing Lara - but it'll also be cool to see somebody else take on the role. NOT Elizabeth Hurley, though - I was watching her on Austin Powers the other day, and her cheekbones are just far too high. x.x
They say "...has no plans any time soon..." , believe me when i say this: .....I will be waiting!

Does anyone else agree? Remember, remember all TR fans...just a few months ago, Angie and Brad denied that they were not even dating at all and now...whoopsies! She's having his BABY!
Sooo, even though she may have said no, it's probably to just keep the hype off of a new TR movie so she can just relax and concentrate on bringing a new beautiful family member into the world.
Watch, six months from now, we'll see the early stages of a new TR movie!
So we should just all relax and hope for the best. Who's with me?!

:D Michelle Rodriguez, maybe? Okayyy, she might be not as tall as AJ and she does not have her D-Cup Breast and she's a bit latino. But I have seen her in SWAT and Resident Evil 1, she's doing fine. With some more training and special make-up.... I don't know... Errrr, uhhh..

If you're refering to Angie's breasts on TR1, they were stuffed, they weren't her real cup size, you know. They look more generous now than they were back then, but I would hardly give them a D cup, still.
I'm not really interested in seeing Jolie as Lara ever again. I was a big fan of hers at one time, and when she was to star as Lara (I liked Lara before knowing of Jolie at all, but liked them both before knowing of this), I was like, WOW!! But now, instead of being sad to hear this... I breathe a sigh of relief.
But that's just my opinion. :)
I can't imagine anyone else playing Lara, besides Angelina Jolie. I hope she still signs on to be in TR3.
who knows? im pretty sure its official that she is..... but she ned her baby first!;)

I already knew a while ago that she was the new MODEL yes, but nothing more.
I've seen an interview with her and she also told she's doing training programmes so I don't know.
But my opinion about the whole movie thing:
I think there are a lot of great movies, I love the Tomb Raider ones, there's nothing wrong with them.
But I AM sick and tired of changing original actors, then it's just not original anymore.
Alright, it hasn't bothered me with James Bond because I only knew it from Goldeneye and the same with Batman, I just went along with it because I was a kid.
But now you know, Angelina Jolie IS just a part of the Tomb Raider movies.
When you see her in one of Lara's outfits, THAT'S the movie and the reality version of Lara Croft.
I mean, when you make a reality version of someone for the first time you just set the tone for the character, and when you change it, it's not the original anymore.
I would hate to see it change AGAIN, the same counts for Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man and such (I'm glad to know he will be in 3)...
Ofcourse, Angeline Jolie is a part of more important things.
But I just think everyone behind the movies just shouldn't whine and wait until she's got the time.
If you want to make a good movie, then do it right... right?
So you also make time for your most important main actor... I would...

are you SURE? because ive read EVERYWHERE that once angelina has her baby she'll start training for TR 3. And it even says in that article shes not replacing Jolie for the movie, if you read carefully, just the game rep. Angelina is definately gonna be Lara in the 3rd movie! :D

Really annoying to hear these conflicting messages. I was at one point 99% sure again that she was going to do it, sobs sobs! But indeed as many have said, until there is a press release, nothing is settled.
By the way, I loved Angie as Lara, but I would much rather see someone else play Lara in the next movie. Isnt it much more fun to have a different actress every other movie, because that way they can all contribute different bits to the character of Lara.
Karima is a beautifull model, but she hasnt proven that she could act. It isnt all about the looks you know, Angie was good because she could pitch the right TombRaiderfeel at first, the drop dead gorgeus, huge lips came second in my opinion.
Im voting for a somewhat older lara, like famke janssen or the first laramodel for instance, or someone you wouldnt expect at all, but still could make a great and interesting lara, like Julia Sawalha, the ugly and very geeky daughter Saffron in Absolutely Fabulous :)

I have to confess that she´s a wonderful actress...but that doesn´t justifie that she could suddenly become our Lara in a movie, the third TR movie, to play a role that was previously played by AJ and is again now! ;)

When i first heard Angelina Jolie would be playing Lara i had a bit of trouble managing it but once i saw the first posters from the movies i was convinced...
The thing is, once you put an actor in a part and agree to do more than one movie you really need to keep the actors in the mains parts firmly where they are.
James Bond can get away with it cos well.. he's 007 (Except the new movie *screams BOYCOT and gets back on topic*)
But Lara Croft is a Game being made into a movie and it's rishy buisness as it is, the same with comic books. Take a look at Spiderman, Superman and X-Men, all the controversy surronding the new actor for Superman. They went out and found an unknown cos really, who can fill those shoes? (And they did a damn good job i might add)
X-Men, can you imagine if they replaced the actor for Wolverine, or Storm? Even Professor X?
Lara Croft was given to the world as Angelina Jolie and she should stay that way, if they replace her as the actor i doubt i will see the movie unless it is for the sake of saying i have seen it. (And even then i will wait for DVD)
Guess all we can do is wait and see :)
