Born on June 04, 1975 in Los Angeles, CA, model turned actress Angelina Jolie has seen herself projected across the many theatre screens around the world. Enrolled at Lee Strasberg Theater Institute at the age of eleven and attending the New York University where she studied film, Jolie made her stage debut as a German dominatrix in Room Service even though as a child she wanted to become a funeral director.

The daughter of Oscar Winner Jon Voight and actress and model mother Marcheline Bertrand, Angelina grew up in California while her family remained on the East Coast following the breakup of their marriage. Following her training at Lee Strasberg Theater, Angelina pursued a professional modelling career in London, New York and LA, starring in music videos by Rolling Stones, Meat Loaf, Lenny Kravitz and also in screen productions directed by her brother James Haven.

Her movie career took off after landing the role of Kate in the 1995 production of hackers, a group of teenagers with itchy fingers and more than a healthy curiosity in the computer security related world of electronic communication. Jolie went on to marry her co-star Jonny Lee Miller although their partnership lasted only a short while.

After a string of Golden Globe awards and an Emmy nomination, Angelina finally struck gold at the 2000 Oscar ceremony, winning an academy Award for best supporting actress in the 1997 movie Girl, Interrupted, directed by James Mangold and based on the book by Susanna Kaysen. Girl Interrupted was the story of a group of mentally disturbed patients residing in a New England psychiatric hospital.

In March 2000, Angelina Jolie married Hollywood actor Billy Bob Thornton at the Little Church of the West in Las Vegas, Nevada before flying to Pinewood Studios to begin filming the Simon West action movie Tomb Raider, based on the computer babe Lara Croft, created by Core Design and Eidos Interactive. Tomb Raider The Movie is due for release Summer 2001.

In all honesty when I first heard that it would be her to play Lara, I thought "why the heck would they pick her?!!" But when I got over my jealousy and thought about it, I could see why they cast her. She really does kinda look like Lara, and she has that attitude about her as well, and she is a great actress. I wonder though how her English accent will be, and it also sems to me that her breasts arent quite as big as the animated Lara. O well I guess thats what wonder bras are for! http://www.metropolitan-internet.net/tombraiderforums//smile.gif

No one has the breasts so big like animated Lara has. Neither Pamela Anderson.

I just hope the script is up to scratch and that the effects do justice to the huge landscapes in the early games. If they get it right then they've got all the characters and storylines and sequels they need right there in the games. The only danger might be that the actress will want to stop playing the part. Then again, it didn't hurt the bond films did it? Perhaps Lara is the new female bond?

Before they picked her, I had a list of at least 3 other ladies whom I thought would make good Laras. When I heard that they picked Jolie, I was a bit puzzled. I guess one has to realize that in show biz having someone who has extraordinary talent makes up for what they lack in other areas. I suspect that after we've been to see it that most of us will be pleased. What, if anything, are they doing to hide the tatoos?

Who says history is boring?

I read quite a bit of the ancient topics back here on page 7...

I see a lot of things about how AJ would be a bad Lara Croft...hehe...

But it appears that even though many disagreed, including me in one post, AJ really was the perfect Lara Croft...

On a side note: I think its great that this forum keeps all the posts...lets you reflect...
