I think at first I thiought that she was the wrong pick, now that I have seen her in action I feel that I was wrong. What do you think??? I wanted Daphnie Moon on Frazier you no his fathers inhouse nurse....

I think Jolie will make a very good Lara. Angelina has a certain look about her. Not only is she attractive, she has a nice bod and there's a toughness about her. She looks so natural when she holds her guns.
Oohh I was corrected about that accent by a friend online, shes to country was his exact words. Not of the higher ranking English lords.... Daph looks good enough!!!
That Jolie as all of it!! She really has the accent and the Lara attitude. She had to play the games!!! LOL :D
Yeah, I think Angelina Jolie makes a great Lara......I've seen her in Hackers (awesome movie), Girl Interupted, Gia, Gone in 60 Seconds (good movie also), I think she has that feminine quality but also that toughness like 4enzix said too......But even if Jolie wasn't playing the part I'd see the movie cause I enjoy the game so much......

I believe I read somewhere that she had played the games before shooting started to get the feel for the character. I think from what I have seen so far that she does quite a good job as Lara. If you look at the teaser trailer when she is on the bike looking backward shooting, you can see Laras facial expressions come out really well. As I saw that I screamed to my husband " Look she even has the expressions down!" I think that there are probably a handful of actresses out there that could portray Lara well, but the fact remains they picked Jolie, and Im glad they did. I love her movies, I have Gone in 60 seconds on DVD. Im partial to the cars as well! ;) I cant wait until the movie comes out, my husband is so mad because he is going to be out to sea when it comes out! I think they couldn't find the WORST actress for this part. She is fat, she has GREEN eyes (I guess everyone saw that awful poster) and black hair. Her arms are very slim and poor - with such arms she couldn't climb up even in the tree, I don't say about the rocks. She holds the guns and swings them like they are toys. I read her interview - she said she didn't like to play TR, but she liked to kill Lara! Her voice is awfull - it's not aristocratic british acsent! And SHE IS PLAYING LARA!!! It's a shame for the game and real Lara CROFT!!!

The answer is simple (but noone said it) she MUST BE 3D - I would watch such FMW with a great pleasure. And this would be the right choice - we love Lara, as she is... not because of these models at E3. If they want to make exactly real movie - they could digitize Lara - I know how these sings are doing - like Ja Ja Bing in the new Star Wars or lots of characters in the future Lord of the rings. They could easily motion-capture her, advising a sportsman to make all the tricks. And the computer cover could be like we want: with slim waist, big bust, muscular legs and extremely beautiful. I'm sure everyone liked her... but they didn't make a FMV, didn't wanna to digitize her - they just took the first actress - and it was Jolie :(
I hate the choice they did... Anyway fist there were anouncement that Catherine Zeta-Johns will play Lara - I don't think she is an absolute Lara look-alike but she is a real aristocrat - I saw her films in all of them she plays ladies - and she looks like lady (like Lara I have to point out) and Jolie always played whores or bad girls and she looks like a whore... I know why she took this part - her fist husband was keen about Lara Croft, always played Tomb Raider and in these moments didn't pay much attention to poor AJ. She hated Lara and she hates her now... I read it in her interview. I guess she took that part for revenge. Also maybe you know that it won't be promoted at E3. AJ and the movie won't appear there - the rumours are that Eidos is full of letters shaming their choice of an actress and they afraid that she would be bespattered with rotten eggs.

This has gone to far and is no longer about Tomb Raider. That is what this forum is for. I see everyones point and I speak for more than myself. This needs to stop or I will delete this thread. I started it, I can stop it. This is a clean and friendly inviroment and that is the way it will stay. People come here for that reason!!! That is the main reason I love it here.

Catherine Z-Jones hmmm...well she would have the "posh" side of Lara,but the toughness?I dunno,I just don't see her as "Lara",CZJ seems a bit too glam for the role.
If we're gonna talk about other contenders here(not that I would replace AJ),I always thought that Charlize Theron might have made a good Lara.I believe she's American.

CZJ is not aristocratic...she is Welsh. The two are not symbiotic. Deal with that.
Lara is not an aristocrat or a lady....she turned her back on all that to raid Tombs.
She would only talk like an aristocrat (which don't actually exist anymore...not since the 1800's) if she spent ALL her time in the sheltered company of similar inbred souls.
She travels the world extensively...her accent would soften over the years.
Angelina is a spot on choice for the role of an a$$-kicking, independent Tomb Raiding gal.
Not the lady of the manor.

We all have different conceptions of Lara...we all play the games individually and all formulate ideas of who she is.
One thing she is NOT is her outfit. Dressing in blue vest, brown shorts and hiking boots does NOT make one Lara. Any more than wearing a Star Trek outfit is gonna get you onboard the USS Enterprise.
Lara is defined by her personality, her attitude, her character.
When I see Angelina in action in the trailers it takes me back to when I first played a TR game...and she has the character of Lara - the ORIGINAL conception of Lara - down to a tee.
Not the diluted, confused image of Lara as seen by fan girrrls.

it seems stephanie natla that u are saying that just becuase a person is new to this forum they know nothing about lara or tomb raider, if you are going to complain about AJ not being like lara what does her not being perfectly skinny have anything to do with lara?? i can understand if maybe u were complaining about the outfits or something but body size has nothing to do with lara at all, thats alright i dont really care how skinny you are, pretty stupid your are comparing ur self to an award winning actress.
