View Full Version : 3D Creations...
I've wanted to be a games developer for some time and I remembered a few nights back that I had a program once, which made primitive 3D games though after I first used it, I lost it. I went searching for days for something I could use and eventually I found a program onLeadWerks (http://www.leadwerks.com/) called 3D World Studio, I downloaded it and installed it. It lay dormant on my desktop for a month or less and today I began to play around with it... these are two simple examples of what the UV map maker can create:

So hopefully if I am successful in creating something anywhere near as good, I’ll be interested in buying the mapper and a game's engine ^_^ I will also post screenshots of anything I produce but right now I am getting used to the basics, thanks for reading :)
Edit:
I've advanced alot in my creations :D

Yay that looks sweet. Are those plants built-in or...?
I've had some practice with Autodesk 3D Studio Max...
This is really old :D

I would like to pick it up again, but I had to uninstall 3dsmax because otherwise, TRL wouldn't fit on my harddisk :hea:
Nice! :tmb: I know absolutely nothing about such programs (apart from the fact they can be really technical and difficult to master), but you seem to be having good fun experimenting BlackGrey :wve:
*coughmakeyourownTRengineforrealthistimecough* :)
It's very similar to the Valve Hammer Editor which I use, and most 3D design programs are set out like that. With a top, side, front, and 3D view.
Wow Punaxe! :cln: Is Auto Desk 3D Studio Max an exspensive tool? Greenkey i'd like to try and make my own TR but it's not gonna happen within this next decade :p

Yes. $3,495.00 ... http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=5679449&linkID=5573082
Oh my! how did you afford that?
That is expensive, i'll get saving :vlol:
I don't think many people really buy it for themselves... It's usually companies that buy it, or at least license it, for all their workers. Graphic companies etc... They can afford it.
I'm lucky that my university has licenses for a lot of software :D
Also including Rhinoceros (http://www.rhino3d.com/) ($900) and the all-known Photoshop ($650), though I'm yet to try those.
What course are you studying?

Industrial Design ... reminds me of another software package: NX (http://www.ugs.com/products/nx/), also licenses by my university. I bet it's extremely complicated though... You can make fully functional (!!) products in it, cars for example. Cars that work, not just look nice.

Wow  Thanks for the info :tmb:
Just looking at some of the pictures on that site makes my head hurt... :p

It looks really complex :jmp:
Indeed... That's why I'm not yet planning on looking into it :D Maybe one day... I'm sure it's a great tool when you master it. If you master it...
I'm interested in game development because i'm not scared by complex things, more curious :D I heard it's a tough career path though :p
I'm sure it is... Hmmm... Wasn't there some game development software somewhere... Blender?
EDIT: Yup :D http://www.blender.org All-free 3D graphics software, AND you can make game engines with it!
Maybe I should too... :jmp:
"...scripting interactivity in the realtime 3D engine" sounds pretty neat
i already tried blender i sucked :p

Wow that's a very good one! If you're sure you don't mind sharing it, could I get it please? :D

http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/3316/pb1200342ay.jpgYou claim you made this model from scratch? It looks very much 100% like the original, which is Eidos property.
well okay not excactly from scratch i used Titak's model to start building cuz i was gonna use it for a game instead of using level editor any way Titak gave me one and i looked at the meshes cuz it was supposed to be a sequel to AOD and the model before Titak gave me i deleted cuz it did not look abything like lara
the point is that i looked at the meshes and tried to recreate them and came up with this :)
EDIT: OOOOPs im sorry my bad :o that was the one Titak gave me if it is Eidos property,
my bad should i remove it i dont want the same thing that happend to woderoy happen to me please help wat should i do im worried :( while ill look for my model which is not
complete *i think* sorry i dont remember stuff very well :(
EDIT2:this is mine like i said i forget thing :( so i did mot know what i left at) :(

I too did some creations in 3D, mostly Cinema4D. My latest (finished)works are:
L-303 Moskviczeus (the original model is not mine but was used, retextured and modified with the knowledge of the author - Mat)
http://jfk.fbi.cz/img/l303-31.jpg
Wet Grave (here it was completely done by me :D ) (the image is a bit large so follow the link :D )

Shiny NCC1701

...And some others. :D

I had Blender but I couldn't find a manual for it anywhere
There are some good Blender tutorials and resources out there. :) Still, that program's a pain to use. :p Usually I can work things out myself with a bit of practice, but Blender just stumps me. :o

Hmm well, in the Downloads > Documentation (http://www.blender.org/cms/Documentation.628.0.html) section of the site are a few... I guess the Noob to Pro on Wikibooks (http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro) is a good place to start :)
I used Blender, but never understood how to create game engines with it...

I just got it, thankyou!
I seriously wonder if this would indeed be copyrighted by Eidos though... How would it have gotten out?
Didn't it contain some author information somewhere in the file perhaps?
i dont know Titak gave it to me i just dont remember waht she said
lol, I just did a tutorial :D

I didn't know how to lathe and make things reflect the environment... now I do :tmb:
laralives: it seems Blender's support for 3ds Max is... non-existant :( Unfortunately I can't work with that model in my software... Thanks, anyway :)
I'm starting to like it :D

Though I can't ever think of what I should actually make... :( Any ideas?
I want to make a 3D game :p
