Well... here goes. :( :eek:

Just seen the movie. WOW!! It just blew me away. I do have to admit that being a projectionist, I did not see the whole thing (yet). I still had work to do. But, I did see the beginning and loved the intro. Caught the story line . Really LOVED Cambodia. The ending was spectacular, and someone correct me if I'm wrong but I beleive they were true to form with Lara Croft and the whole concept of TOMB RAIDER.

>> All right lasses and lads, I just saw the movie. Begin with the bottom line: I liked it. I won't talk too much about it because the topic isn't titled as containing spoilers. I will say that the action scenes were neat, although I thought some of the dialogue came out of a cheez wiz can. Also, the cinematography was only OK, not as elegant as in other action movies. The editing could have been tighter, etc (but some scenes were rather funny). Actually, if it was any actress other than AJ I might not have liked it as much. However, I think it captured the spirit of the game very well, and if you look at it more as a live action realization of the game, it seems well done. I also thought the back-story with the other blond tomb raider could have been explored more. Now all of that being said....I must admit I _may_ see it again in the near future.

Hello tlr online>> The people who didn't like the movie are actually quite justified. As it went along (the movie) I was disappointed as well. However, perhaps some of these other reviewers don't have the "soft spot" and understanding for the game that people who play it do. Reviewed from the standpoint of a stand-alone action movie, its honestly not that good, and is more or less saved by AJ and the spirit of LC she incarnates. If you like it, as I do, I think its because you mentally bridge across the game _and_ the movie. You get to see more of the human side of Lara, plus she talks more (and as one other person on this
board she just mostly shoots people without talking to them first, or at all, like as an alternative to shooting. Actually, you know Lara's main tools for interaction with her environment are guns. She doesn't have a calculator or telephone or anything else)

Like I said, I thought some of the camera work was downright sloppy, but the actual footage was good enough that if it had been properly edited it would have been much better. AJ has the ability to make LC a more complex and beautiful character than the movie allowed her to. I also think the potential of the movie was left unrealised and watered down to pass under the bar of the PG 13 rating.

Angelina Jolie fans will love this film. Tomb Raider fans will be divided; some will think it is not true enough to the game, and some will look past the incongruities and enjoy it anyway.

The plot was unwieldy and over-the-top (I guess that's to be expected in this particular genre, but I thought it was extreme even by those standards). Mostly what redeems this film is Angelina Jolie and her performance. And also there are some kick-ass action sequences (LOVED the Bungee Ballet sequence!). Although the Lara Croft depicted in this film didn't completely gel with my image of her (which is of course only my opinion) she was a fun character to watch, nonetheless.

I am an AJ fan and a Tomb Raider fan and I will probably see it again and will certainly own the DVD. I liked this movie; although I agree with Ms Von Croy that I was so excited to see the film I was bound to like it no matter what.

I thought the movie was pretty good. I wish they would have stayed a little closer to the game. For example, why was her butler so young instead of the old guy that follows her around in the game? But on the other hand her house in the movie was like looking at her house in the game! Anyway, I guess thats nit picking. Overall I thought The movie was good. I really enjoyrd it, and as for AJ as Lara... ...I don't think they could have made a better choice !!!!!!

I would advise people not to waste their 10 bucks to go see it. Not that it isn't good it was okay for the most part but you would be better off renting it. Its not a **must** see movie. Some of the scenes were exciting but there just was not plot or character development. The movie just went along to quickly and in my opinion was to fast and easy. Hell the game is frustrating at times and the movie was just too simple. Something that really bothers me is that they didnt even use any of the music from the tomb raider game. U2 is great band and I like the song but it just seems out of place. I actually loved Angelina Jolie as Laura. I hope they get a better director for the next movie.

:eek: :D Awesome movie! Go see it, everything about it is awesome. The Special FX, The Scenery, The Plot, The Script, The Characters...and.....Angelina Jolie. Those newspaper reviews have thier heads up thier butts. You have to be a non tr fan and a loon not to like this movie!!!!!!!
