Greetings. as promised, a nice shiny new Tomb Raider The Ride section:
Paramount Pictures King Island Tomb Raider The Ride (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/trmovie/theride/index.html)
I don't know if anyone is interested in this or not but I just saw this on the web. The article doesn't say what the ride is going to consist of but the website does have some cool pictures of effect they do under the special effects section.
(Valencia, California)Technifex, Inc. -- known throughout the theme park industry for sensational special effects -- has been tagged as Technical Show Producer for Paramount Parks' newest attraction, TOMB RAIDER: The Ride, scheduled to open in 2002 at Paramount's Kings Island near Cincinnati, Ohio. The ride is based on Paramount Pictures feature film, Lara Croft: TOMB RAIDER, which in turn, is based on the popular Eidos Interactive, Inc. TOMB RAIDER action games featuring that extraordinary adventurer, Lara Croft. Technifex will be in charge of all entertainment technologies -- special effects, audio and show control - required to turn this dynamic film into an unforgettable attraction.
"We're delighted Paramount asked us to work on TOMB RAIDER: The Ride because entertainment technologies play such a pivotal role in this type of show," said Rock Hall, Chairman of Technifex. "It's a great opportunity for us."
On TOMB RAIDER: The Ride, The excitement begins with a journey into a foreboding ancient temple. As stone walls give way, guests will proceed through mysterious chambers, engraved with strange, runic symbols and the debris of failed expeditions. With only seconds to spare before certain calamity, guests strap in to the only possible vehicle of escape. Playing off scenes from the motion picture filmed in Cambodia and Iceland, the escape will include a close call with menacing, razor-sharp stalactites and a face-first plunge straight down toward a pit of boiling, red-hot lava.
TOMB RAIDER: The Ride will not be first time that the wizards at Technifex translate a blockbuster adventure film into an exciting, multi-dimensional experience. The Valencia company was the show producer for the award-winning special effects spectacular Titanic: The Experience at Fox Studios Australia, based on James Cameron's unforgettable film.

Fantastic!! Thanks Trinity!
More news on the TR ride... I know this came out in July but this article has some more info than the press release. NOTE: If anyone wants to use this article/pictures on a website you have to contact pkiguide.com and as permission, these are not mine!
Paramount's Kings Island, today, announced their amazing new attraction for 2002 - Tomb Raider: The Ride.
While details are still few, it appears that PKI has something unique in store for it's 30th anniversary. "We're very excited about our 30th anniversary," said PKI spokesperson Jennifer Bowers. "And for the anniversary we're adding Tomb Raider: The Ride - a heavily themed, dark ride experience found only at Paramount's Kings Island."
"Tomb Raider: The Ride" is based on the recent Paramount Blockbuster, "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider." Courageous "Tomb Raiders" will enter throgh a "foreboding ancient temple." What follows is a journey through mystic chambers, and mysterious stone walls. Finally, riders strap in and face the encounter of a lifetime where they will travel through icy caverns and fly face first towards boiling lava. All of this in a theme park attraction that PKI says is unique to Kings Island and will "change the face of thrill ride history."
While some fans seem disappointed at the idea of a non-coaster attraction, enthusiasts are being promised that this is one attraction they don't want to miss. And, says Jennifer Bowers, there's a reason for the lack of details.
"Well, if you hadn't seen the movie, you wouldn't want me to tell you the ending. So I guess you'll have to come back in 2002 and experience 'Tomb Raider: The Ride' for yourself to see how everything ends!"
No problem. No problem at all.
Ride Facts
-While still unofficial, the cost of this attraction is reported to be more than the two-year Action Zone expansion, meaning a total cost of no less than $40 Million.
-The final ride building will reach 8 stories, and will be located in Rivertown on the former site of "Kenton Cove's Keelboat Canal."
-Vertical construction begins in September.
-Many props from the movie will be used in the attraction, including the statue of the six-armed goddess Durga, which currently resides in the preview pavillion by the main gate.
-Actual ride specifics will not be revealed before its opening.

It is hard to believe that the 2001 season at Paramount's Kings Island is about to come to a close after this weekend Nov. 3 & 4th. This is your last chance to see, in-person, Tomb Raider: The Ride under construction. In less than one month the exploration begins with an exclusive behind-the-scenes construction information and photos.
The biggest mystery of 2002 unveils right before your very eyes.... what will it be ? Tomb Raider: The Ride promises to change the face of thrill ride history.... and you have a front row seat as the most ambitious project in Paramount's Kings Island's 30-year history materializes from a designers dream into a thrill-seekers reality.
Who is involved in this project? What are the details of the theming design? Where is this new attraction being built? What is the ride like? All of these questions and more are answered in the winter months ahead.
Stay tuned...more to come.....in the meantime, here's (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/trmovie/theride/index.html) what we know so far.
