14. Meteos (DS)

Puzzle games? Psh, Meteos is in a league of it's own. One of the most addictive, explosive and shockingly well-made games out there. Intuitive and fresh gameplay with quite possible the best multi-player that can be found on a handheld, rivaling Mario Tennis.

13. Burnout 3: Takedown (Xbox, PS2)

Fast enough to leave skid marks on your palms and crazy enough to turn your brain inside our, Burnout 3 is unmatched in racing games. What more needs to be said?

12. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64/Gamecube)

Epic, huge, glorius and postively brilliant. Few action adventure games can even compare. So many mind-blowing genius mechanics and puzzles, it's the result of a perfect amount of love, effort and pure talent.

11. Chrono Trigger (SNES, PSone)

Hilarious tongue-in-cheek style story and beautfiully animated characters and battle attacks. Tons of replay, full-fledged New Game + Mode and one of the most memorable casts in all of gaming. Their return may never be seen again.

10. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (Xbox)

The visuals in this game are frickin' unbelievable. Amazing animation, smooth framerate, best co-op this side of Halo, incredible versus play; damn what an awesome game.

9. Mario Tennis (Gameboy Color)/Mario Tennis Power Tour (Gameboy Advance)

Both memorbale and absorbing games. Very similar, so it's pretty impossible to choose one over the other, but both are very much worth owning.

8. Ninja Gaiden: Black (Xbox)

Devil May What? Mr. Hayabusa puts Dante to shame. Faster, harder, more intense and just flat more kickass. Some of the most stylish stuff ever even concieved in a videogame with flashy and impressive visuals.

7. Phantasy Star Online Episodes I and II (Gamecube, Xbox)

This game boasts some of the sweetest ass online experiences a gamer can imagine. Before it went to hell, Phantasy Star Online featured a great and welcoming community and a ridiculously simple-yet-awesome party system for traveling and fighting as a group. Square should take notes for Final Fantasy XI.

6. Chrono Cross (PSone)

A complex, engaging and amazing story that perfectly continues the story of Trigger without feeling tacky, forced or rehashed. Chrono Cross is just a flat out fantastic RPG and sequel is every possible way.

5. Super Smash Bros. Melee (Gamecube)

Please, this game has everything. It is literally missing NOTHING.

4. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty/Substance (PS2, Xbox, PC)

Raiden>>>Snake

3. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (DS)

This isn't a videogame, or a lawyer simulator or a text adventure. It's a story with the most rich and engagingly well made cast of characters ever concieved in a videogame.

2. Final Fantasy VIII (PSOne, PC)

GAWD what an under appreciated game. Easily the best Final Fantasy ever, with a perfectly well made world and great story pacing with a fantastic protagonist who's angst was well developed, intriguing and applied greatly to the story. Plus, the Junction System allowed for easy stat customization unlike any other Final Fantasy could, unlike X where you have to spend 150 hours giving everyone what you want them to have.

1. Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube)

FF VIII has an amazing story, I wish the end was better though. FF X had a great ending, but the characters were so annoying.

IMO I think that FFIX is better, although I think that Metal Gear Solid 2 is in the right place up there!

I don't think any of the Tomb Raider games were good enough to be on the list of the Top 14 Greatest Games of All Time!

Sorry. :(

So those are the games you like and they have to be greatest games of all time with period and bolded?

Everyone has their own taste...

There were some researches some time ago and I believe the most people voted for your #12 as the best game of all time...
:)

... but they're all console games!

Where's the Baldur's Gate games? (Truly the finest RPG game ever made, along side Planescape - Torment). Morrowind? (for sheer scope and player freedom of choice, this game wins hands down). Games such as Civilisation? (personally can't stand the Civ games, but I can spot a well made game when I see one, even if I'm not a fan of the genre ;) ). Half Life? (A true innovator of it's time, even if I do keep falling off ladders...) the mighty Grim Fandango?

:p I used to be a worshipper at the altar of the mighty console, but then I was built a PC of my very own (so I no longer had to share with my ubernerd husband) and discovered the Joy and Rapture that is the truly immersive, time-gobbling PC game.... (heh heh, Long Live Baldur's Gate!! Woot! :D :D )

Console gamers only. Half Life won it for years - I dunno about recently, though. I think the GTA series is pretty much up there year after year...

Not really into PC gaming, and I know I've missed on a lot of great PC games. At GameFAQs.com, one of the popular websites on the internet, Final Fantasy VII won the greatest game ever for two contents in a row, and Cloud Strife won greatest character in a character contest, and he squared off against Sephiroth in the final bracket.

Personally i would have put metal gear solid ( the original) on the list, and half life2

The Fourteen Greatest Games Ever Made, Period.

No... its just your opinion, you can never come up with a list of the greatest games ever made, because you'll never get everyone to agree on what should be in the list.

Personally, I think FFVII should be on that list at number one. And FFVIII shouldn't be anywhere to be seen. It's one of my least favourite FF games.
Chrono Cross I completely agree with :) Although I'd place it a bit higher in the list, maybe number 3 or 4. It only had a few flaws, such as too many characters.
Burnout 3 I would remove and replace it with Burnout Revenge. I think revenge improved on 3 in every way.
I'd also add Lumines in there, I was hooked on that game for ages! I call it "digital crack". Meteos I can't comment on because I've never played it, but from the praise you gave it I think it'll check it out. My DS hasn't been used in a while :(

EDIT: BTW, Raiden !> Snake! That is blasphemy! Hehe.

Where's GTA? San Andreas is the greatest game of all time! Then Vice City then GTA 3. Those games are so fun to play, they last u months and even after that u still want to replay them. It has loads of extra stuff to do once you complete them also and it must take you more than a year to do san andreas 100%. I've still not completed it 100% and I still play it and find it fun. It has fun, length, great replay value, extra things to do once its complete, you can do stuff outside missions. Its the most fun game of all time, the game that took me longest to complete without ever getting boring and even after that you still can just play it and have fun plus it has an amazing replay value. I'm mostly talking about san andreas here. I love to just slaughter people, I love avoiding getting killed or caught by police for as long as possible. I love just causing destruction in a tank and it never gets boring. It has a great story and it can be quite funny sometimes and I just love listening to the radio in the game. Its a game that gives you so many hours of fun, laughter and joy. I love slitting peoples throats blowing stuff up and killing people all different ways. Definitely the best game of all time.

AGREED! (Although I have finally done it 100% :tmb: )
I think the games that should be on it are...
Tomb Raider 1, Half-Life 2, and GTA:San Andreas :)
Did u use a guide to help u find things? I cant see how anyone can do it 100% on their own. I haven't ever looked at a guide for it and I'm 97.7% done. I found all spraypaints by myself and the only thing I haven't done is collect oysters and do the snapshots. I've done everything else. I printed off the 100% checklist off the san andreas website so I'd know how far away I was from 100%. All I have to do is snapshots and oysters. It took me like a year just to get that far and theres no way in hell I'm gonna find all the oysters and snapshots by myself. So did u use a guide to help u find things? I think its near impossible to do 100% bt yourself. If anyone has done gta san andreas without any help they are a gta god.

Neither do I, sorry guys, I didnít play the last one, but in my eyes they are the cheapest nastiest games around, and I donít really like overly violent games. I am not going to say I donít play violent games because I do, but its usually Ďyou or themí and in that situation you fight, but to just kill people for no reason. I know its just a game, but not really my kind of thing.

The follwing sums it up for me

I love to just slaughter people.

I love slitting peoples throats blowing stuff up and killing people all different ways. .

Pah!

This "period" list is gonna change periodically indeed. I'd say up till now at highest five games could be on a "period" list.
