While out walking on a misty June morning, I came across some Standing Stones. And though there are hundred upon hundreds of such stones in Scotland, these were different. Warm to the touch, and I could hear sounds inside, as if I were in a deep cavern.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/tha_mattster/mist2.jpg
On each, there were strange symbols carved. One in particular was strange; there was an outline of a face, as if someone had pressed their head against wet cement! And where the eyes would be, there were instead two black holes. I pressed my face close, and I could actually see inside!
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/tha_mattster/standingstone.jpg
It was not a hollow rock, for I could see inside this thing a different world, strange and dark. And in this place I could make out lights that floated above the ground. As I saw them, they too saw me; and came near my viewing hole. They didn’t frighten me; in fact I thought they looked sad.
Then one of these figures seemed to become more real, more human. And soon enough I recognised it! Lady Croft!
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/tha_mattster/standingstonegif.gif
I could hear her speaking, just barely because the sound was so faint. But quickly it became clearer and I could hear she was actually addressing me!
‘Stay back stranger! Do not come near this place! You are in great danger!’ she shrieked.
I assured her that I was fine, but this did make me a little nervous. I asked her if she would mind answering some questions, she did not really say no, so I just pressed ahead!

1. What lead you to take refuge in a monastary in Nepal?
When our plane crashed on the mountainside, we desperately needed shelter. Lara knew how to make snow shelters, however I saw the monastry nearby, and though Lara has always been skilled in such situations, I felt it safer to seek shelter in the monastry.
2. How did you survive the freezing waters and deep pits. From where the plane landed, it seems like that was some hike for you and Lara.
Really, it was not very far at all.
(I wonder if the Excalibur fragment she had, had helped at all)
3. How is Avalon?
It is certainly different from the realm in which you inhabit! It’s so quiet, and lonely.
4 Here's a present:
*Hands documents which states that Mr. Croft has died. Lara is now a famous archaeologist. Amanda actually saved her from exploding with the Stone Dais.
Thank you, but I have been aware of these events for some time.

1. Have you met any Famous dead persons yet?
A terrifying thought! I am not dead, as far as I can know, but I would very much like to meet the Brontës, if I was in such a situation.
2. Were you confused about talking to lara in the future?
Sorry, I do not understand quite what you mean. I have not spoken to Lara since my departure.
3. So tell about the famous apples in Avalon
I have not encountered such apples. Are they of significance? (I shrug)
4. I would like to give you this pendant from Lara's personal inventory. please dont ask me how I got it
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/tha_mattster/mumcroft2polaroid.jpg
I warn you, if you stole that from my daughter, she will be most displeased.
Cochrane:
1. What did you do for a living? Were you an archeologist just like your husband?
I never had to work, but I did run a charity called Croft Conservation. Its aim was to protect wildlife in our county.
2. Why were you flying over Nepal, and why wasn't your husband with you?
I was on my way to meet Richard in Lhasa, Lara and I had been in Delhi looking around some Hindu temples. Sadly he could not accompany us everywhere, he was a very busy man.
3. Where are you now and what kind of place is it you are in?
I cannot say exactly. It does not feel like your realm, it is as if time moves slower here. I feel as if I have been here but a few days, yet you speak of events that took place are many years after my departure. In a sense I feel trapped like being stuck on an island, not surrounded by water, but my a sort of spiritual barrier… sorry this really is not making sense, I apologise. ( I tell her I understand)
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/tha_mattster/croftmummy.jpg
4. Do you have any favourite story about Lara's behaviour when she was little?
Perhaps favourite is not how I should best describe this, but for her fourth birthday we gave her a kitten. As it turned out this was a poor choice! The night following the celebrations, we heard a fierce hissing coming from the kitchens. At the time it was most frightening. In the morning, as Winston was preparing breakfast, he opened the meat freezer, and the poor kitten leapt right at him! Lara ought to empathise more with animals! She did the very same cruel deed to her friend Amanda’s hamster.
5. What happened to the pilots of your plane?
I try my best not to think on that. Those poor men.
Natla'd
1. Why did you choose such a horrible haircut for your daughter?
It was Lara’s own choice, and I so happen to find it delightful!
2. Would you like Lara to settle down with any of her staff and pop out a few grandchildren?
(she laughs in surprise!) Gosh! I can’t see that happening any time soon. And certainly not with somebody in service!
VonCroy360:
1. Did you wanted your daughter to become an archeologist?
I only wanted her to pursue that which would bring her happiness…within reason of course!
2. Why did you pull out the sword? Why did you listen to Amanda and not Lara? You probably recognized her...
Indeed I do know of Amanda, but you must understand it was not at all a clear telephone conversation. I could barely make out the voices.
3. How did you appeared in this magic stone that tha_mattster has found?
These are The Stones of Narcissus, when a man of great wisdom and beauty nears them, all kinds of strange happenings can take place! (I can hear some muffled laughter!)
4. Can you shortly describe Lara's father?
Richard Croft: Loving husband, devoted father, with a passion for discovery.
5. Are you from aristocratic family; or are you a lady just because you married a lord?
I did not have a title before I married Richard, but others in my family did, my uncle was a Lord.
Hunter
1.do you think you've raised Lara well?
That is not for me to judge, but she has turned out splendidly wouldn’t you agree?
2.Are you happy with her being a tomb raider and not an office worker?
An office worker!? I perish the thought, but please, my daughter is an archaeologist – not a Tomb Raider - and of that I am pleased.
3.Have you seen your daughter in elegant clothes?
Oh yes, but she will only dress formally when required. She met a man in Oxford; a Mr A Fletcher, they became friends. Soon after he took her to Paris and she came back with some wonderful pieces. I never actually saw any on her though.

1 - was travelling with your husband and daughter all the time a strain on the family and your relationship with your husband, and did you enjoy it?
On the contrary, it brought us closer together. Seeing these exotic places is a magnificent experience to share with one’s family. I do not enjoy going anywhere by plane, but often circumstance does not allow for an alternative.
2 - which did you like better, the previous piece of jewellery your husband gave you that you lost in Ghana, or the new, more mysterious one you were given unwittingly by your husband who at that time was unaware that that was the Ghalali key?
I found them both to possess great beauty. The one I lost in West Africa, it had great sentimental value, he gave it to me shortly after our wedding day. Yes, indeed we found its replacement mysterious. I do not find it particularly attractive, but it was a gift and so I must appreciate it.
3 - How is Avalon? I really want to go there and experience what nearly all of us have not. You are most especially fortunate to have gone to such a legendary island that to this day no one can locate...next time bring me with you.
I would never take anybody to this place! I must say I do not feel fortunate to have been taken away from my dear Lara. It is cold, empty and I cannot leave.
4 - Can you ever bear the heartache of not being with your daughter? Don't worry, I also have not been living with my mother for some time now and it really hurts. Remember, once you come back your daughter Lara will be there for you
Yes, it is hard to be away from my daughter, but this is what has happened, I cannot change the past. And so I make the best of the situation. I can only dream that circumstances will change and I can return to be with her.

5 - Last, how proud are you of your daughter, and her way of life? Would you rather have her do something else such as business or photography or even join the postcard business? LOL
I am most proud of Lara and what she has achieved. I would rather she did not go into business, but if that is her desire, then surely I would not change her mind.

If you could tell Lara one thing, what would that be?
That I love her, and I miss her.
Did it hurt being sucked through the gate?
I cannot remember how it felt; I must have been unconscious for some time. Can you speak up? I feel like I am being pulled away from you. I fear we do not have much time left.

1.i want to go to Avalon too , can you take me there, please?
I really do not think I have the power, I don’t know why you would wish to come here, it is a lonely and desolate place.

1.What do you read?
I enjoy sonnets greatly. Richard had a favourite he would often read to me, shall I recite it for you now?
(I nod)
(she reads is slowly, softly and with great feeling)
One day I wrote her name upon the strand;
But came the waves and washed it away:
Again I wrote it with a second hand,
But came the tide and made my pains his prey.
Vain man! Said she, that dost in vain assay
A mortal thing so to immortalise;
For I myself shall like to this decay,
And eke my name be wiped out likewise.
Not so, quoth I; let baser things devise
To die in dust, but you shall live by fame:
My verse your virtues rare shall eternise,
And in the heavens write your glorious name, Amelia
Where, whenas death shall all the world subdue,
Our love shall live, and later life renew.
(the stones stop glowing and I loose all contact with her)
