I used THIS (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/headlines2333.html) to install TR1 on my computer. But when I go on to Glidos and press start I get 'Can't copy pif file to C:\Tombraid\.'

Can anyone help me please? :(

Ensure that you've installed TR in C:\Tombraid & the folder is not "read only"

It was read only, but now i've unchecked it.

Still not working :(

For me it's working properly (just have started for a test)... :)
Try DgVoodoo instead (Included in TR Advanced Installer or download ver. 1.40+ here: http://dege.freeweb.hu/ ) :wve:

-- Edit --
Can you post the file list of TR & Glidos folders...

Hmmmmm Everytime I tick not Read Only it always ticks itself back on again????

I reinstalled Glidos because I found out I was missing 2 files, but now I get this error message everytime I press start. I press yes and it loads stuff in black window then closes and nothing happens :confused::confused:

It should be in C:\tombraid if you have VDM Sound! If you don't then download it from http://www.tombraiderhub.com as TRAI has no included.
Install VDMS, then right click tomb.exe and choose "run with VDMS".

Lavinder, you should have STARTED with installing VDMSound 2.1.0, not in the end.

You should have first installed VDMSound 2.1.0. Read the TR1 FAQ (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/faq/tr1.html).
Delete TOMBRAID and tombpath.txt.
Install VDMSound 2.1.0. Make sure all items are ticked! http://joseph.tombraiderforums.com/Images/vdmsound-install-all.jpg
Reboot the PC!!!
While you have the TR1 cd in your first player (if you have more than 1 player it must be the one with the lowest drive letter, "D" is lower than "E"), install TR1 using the Advanced Installer. Yes to DgVoodoo. Yes to configure VDMSound, if you have an ATI card yes for disable VDD mode, yes to create shortcuts on desktop.

Ok, thanks i'll try that :)

Ok, now when I click on the desktop shortcut it goes to full black screen and runs some stuff then sends me back to the desktop...

» Game crashes to desktop immediately just before introduction FMV (WinXP SP2).
This may be due to the VDMSound settings. Right-click on Tomb Raider (Glide) shortcut, click Properties, in VDMSound tab click Advanced, choose SoundBlaster tab, and set DSP ver. to 3.02 SoundBlaster Pro 2. All other settings except from Sound Blaster 16 work as well.

Oh yeah, I am using
'Premier collection'
'Tomb
raider'
(Unfinisished buisness)
Featuring Lara Croft
Original game

4 extra levels never seen before!Does this version work with this installer?

EscondeR

Yep, you must only choose TR 1 Gold (Unfinished Buisness) at the first screen of TR Advanced Installer :)

>>> NO EsconderR. You are wrong.

Lavinder, i have the same version as you.

http://joseph.tombraiderforums.com/Images/tr1cover.jpg

For TR1 to install with the Advanced Installer, you MUST select Tomb Raider Original. As is clearly explained in our TR1 FAQ (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/faq/tr1.html).

http://www.tombraiderhub.com/faq/images/install2.gif

Only when you install Unfinished Business, you must select 'Tomb Raider Gold', and use the downloaded version of Unfinished Business (because Advanced Installer is not programmed to use the cd version).

What steps would I have to go through to erase all the things I have done to try and install the game?

I wan't to start a fresh install :)

Kill C:\TOMBRAID & tombpath.bat (or txt).
Ensure you have VDMS (you may uninstall it, reboot, install & reboot once more to be sure it's done correctly).
Then run TR Advanced Installer and follow the TR Installation notes above in the thread or given in the TR 1 FAQ.
Then run DgVoodoo and ensure you have correct options at DOS section!
Run tomb.vlp not tomb.exe :)

Lavinder

Ok, will do it when I have some spare time :)

Run tomb.vlp not tomb.exe :)Yes this is right, and "Run tomb.vlp not tomb.exe" means:
When you have followed the instructions exactly, to launch the game = doubleclick the "Tomb Raider (Glide)" icon on the dektop.

What device is used in VDMS Advanced settings on Soundblaster tab? Make it be System Sound Mapping Prog (Wave). Also try basic Vesa sup. on Compatibility tab. And use VESA support on VESA tab in DgVoodoo !!! IN DOS SECTION !!!
BTW, I don't remember do you use tomb.exe or tomb3d.exe (tomb3dfx)?

Joseph
16-06-06, 22:16
And use VESA support on VESA tab in DgVoodoo !!! IN DOS SECTION !!!
Esconder, this only depends if user has a graphic card or onboard graphics. Onboard graphics may need Vesa support enabled (confirmed by Jason Davies), but modern graphic cards do NOT!
Anyway, The Advanced Installer has included DgVoodoo 1.31. Which is fine. Which in the autoconfiguration by Advanced Installer has NOT enabled Vesa support in setup. Also, version 1.31 of DgVoodoo says to only enable it when using Windows 98/ME.
Also Esconder, Advanced Installer automatically installs the right version of Tomb.exe, so please don't make this story more complicated for Lavinder than necessary. :)

So. Lavinder. Please click on Diagnose.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe) , select to Run it then post the complete result into your next reply. You have done it before, so you know how it goes.
Then we'll see what graphics you have, which DgVoodoo you are running and more.
