I mean it was 10 years ago, and all we see is a 1 step up from the original console. Is this progress? hmmmm Well i am still glad its happening.
I own a 360 but I'm not the least disappointed, if it was going to be Next Gen, they would probably have to push the release date back a year maybe even more. Legend for PS2 was awesome graphics, and TR1 would look amazing in that kind of graphics. I'm just soo happy it's confirmed, all we have to worry about no is if Crystal Dynamics will do a good job.

Yeah. I'm dissapointed. I would love to have played the game on my 360 at hi-defintion.
But at the end of the day, it's about money. It's cheaper to develop on PS2 and most profit would be gained on PS2, especially for a remake.
But you never know. Remember, Legend wasn't announced on 360 until much later. So we might still be in with a chance. But I think the majority of gamers have a PS2 kicking about somewhere so not all hope is lost! We can still play it!
But we can comfort ourselves with the fact that TR8 is in probably in devlopment for 360 right now!

NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST !!!!
Plus theres no way they would have the game out on its 'tenth anniversary' if they had to faff about getting to grips with next gen stuff...
SONY all the way.... how it used to be !!

As long as that? Yet they can work on TR2 as well.
I am just so used to the 360 now, and its controller. I hate the PS2 controller :(

I'm disappointed too--but only a little. It'll be a blast on the PS2 and I think the lessons CD will learn will bode very well for TR8 (see my topic on that). It's a win-win!

If you guys keep complaining and force them to make it multi platform.....and next gen..... then expect a rushed unfinished game like legend....(missing levels etc) It just doesnt seem feasable to make the game in such a short amount of time.... And i disliked Next Gen anyway....she looks horrificly plastic...
(..thats JUST an opinion...)
Not really disappointed.
I don't have a next gen console so yeah PS2 all the way. I would've loved a PS3 remake if I had a PS3. But I won't get PS3 right after it has been released.
So I'd have to wait longer for a PS3 remake :)
It would have been great but at least it's coming out for PC. I hope the game has a next gen graphics option like TRL. I bet it'll come out on PS3 and Xbox 360 eventually though (porting it over from the PC version wouldn't be too hard).

How about the 20th anniversary edition? Or would that be on PS5? :D

I am honestly shocked that it's not next-gen :(
I would have loved to see the Lost Valley and Palace Midas in glorious Next-gen visuals on the Xbox 360, too bad it's not gonna happen :(
But surely TR8 WILL be next-gen only? :)
I can't see Crystal releasing another TR for Ps2, they'd have to port the 360 and PS3 versions and so those versions would be thought of as "just another couple of ports" :(
Plus the next-gen will be in full swing by next year and I doubt we'll see another TR game - at the very earlyest in 2008

TR8 has to be next gen only! All other franchises have moved to Next gen so TR will most likely follow suit.

Perhaps the Remake being on PS2 is a farewell gift to the "old generation". PS2 owners will have something to tide them over while the series moves on to Next Gen machines only. It would soften the blow...

There's always something people have to moan about isnt there... :pi: No, Im not dissapointed, obviously o_O Im just happy and grateful enough that the whole project is going ahead :)
Yup, do the remakes on current gen and do future games for next gen, that way we get our remake this year and hopefully TR8 on next gen.... if PS3 comes out on time.

no it wont... it'll be on PS4 only- even though PS5 will come out a month later, and XBox1440 will have been around for a year (not to mention XBox720)
Yeah I would have prefered it next gen also (though I am happy it is being made) I feel that the PS2 is coming to the end of its lifespan, so I personally would have liked to see it on a newer console, allowing more in the sense of graphical power, effects etc. But as I said before I am happy it is atleast being made

It better be. So then Crystal Dynamics can make the game look a lot better. I am so annoyed that it's not on Xbox 360. I hope it does come on it.
I have a reasonable PC & a 360. Tomb Raider Legend controls much better on the PC so I'm not complaining. I'm just happy they decided to remake such a classic!

It just refers to the next generation of gaming, such as Xbox 360 opposed to Xbox, and PS3 opposed to PS2. Some people with brilliant PC's can also play games in next gen mode :wve:

lol most people hope so :wve: Would be nice to see it on next gen consoles also for those of us who are allergic to PC gaming :D
I'm sorry, perhaps I am old fashion or lame, but the remake is not about high tech. Its about commemorating the original game. This means preserving to a great extent the originality of this game. Its not about graphics or Next Gen. Its finally about "getting back to the tombs".

Here Here....im glad some one else agrees....
And going next gen would just push the release WAAAAY back...
They are best saving next gen for TR8.....as so many others have pointed out...
Plus, its not like theres a shortage of PS2 or PC players... seems they make up the dominant market...

hmm yes and no.
A remake should always be the same game with a new lick of paint, do give it access to new people. But I agree, Tomb Raider has become so far removed from what made it Tomb Raider, that "getting back to the tombs" is exactly what it is about!
Next gen would be nice, and I dont the PC will feature next gen graphics but I'm just happy the game is coming out ;)
When is the 10th anniversary anyway?

lol well you never know. We dont know any dates yet :wve:
PLEASE DON'T LET IT BE NEXTGEN!!! i even don't want it to be a remake... why but whatever, as long as i can play it on my pentium 4 2.8gb (legend wasn't a problem at all) so keep the same system requirements!!!
They better announce it for Xbox at least.:hea:

Personally I think a remake should be about moving forward with technology. If it was an original title fair enough but as a remake, I think it should be given all the extra bells and whistles that nextgen gaming can offer (although CD did a great job making even the PSP version of Legend look good).
In all honesty (now be honest) as this is a remake and is not likely to happen again wouldn't you prefer it to be made to the best visual standards CD can currently achieve (atleast as an optional platform). Whilst it is about commemorating the old games and getting back to the tombs, if I wanted to do that I would go play the classic version - I would like the remake to look and to some extent feel different whilst still retaining the charm and overall feel of the classic game. However it turns out I am glad it is being remade.

What's the point of making pretty graphics if I can't use it in the gameplay?
Develope a robust physics engine first, then let's talk about the rest...and a good physics engine does not require a next-gen platform...

IMO, the physics engine used for Legend was fine especially for the type of game they are making. To apply better physics to the TR1 remake in my opinion would in no way be more important than the aesthetics.

I'm just tried of playing games with pretty faces but no meat inside...I'm not gonna upgrade my computer just to see how pretty things got blow up...
If CD is gonna make advance graphic engine, I better can take advantage of it when dodging trap/killing enemies instead of staring at it for 5 seconds and get bored...otherwise, they might as well re-release TR1 with source codes and fool-proof Vista compatitbility for under $20...
