What would you like for the soundtrack of TR:AE?
1) The same old soundtrack of the original game.
2) Rearranged versions of the same old tracks.
3) A completely new soundtrack.
I'm going for rearranged versions of the old tracks. They were so good.
Old, maybe some updated.
God forbid CD's Technobeat- TR- music finds its way into the remake.

Same, or possibly rearranged. But NOT new. Some of the music in Legend drove me insane!

DOH! http://forums.bradbarnett.net/images/smilies/doh.gif No fair, 6 guys typed in before me!!! http://forums.bradbarnett.net/images/smilies/bonk9zw.gif What illuminati 30 said. The old track ONLY. Music was perfect, voices were perfect, special effect noises were spot on.
DON'T TOUCH THE SOUND TRACK!
OLD! I hated legends soundtrack, nothing like TR.... SINGING IN THE SOUNDTRACK?! The only singing I tollerate in tr music is AHHHHHHHH HUMMMMSS :vlol: :vlol: :ton:

Hell yeah. I want to hear the music from the Tomb of Qualopec again, after you take that scion bit and escape the crumbling tomb!

ditto.. I miss those thrilling and scary tracks from tr4 and the main theme from tr1
who remembers the tr4 cairo boss fight music.. that was awesome!

i want an update of the old soundtrack... I want them to pull the old music notes and kick them up with a bigger orchestra. THATS IT! I don't wna t a techno remix of the old theme.
plus they have to keep in that quick "DUN DUN" whenever you were about to get chased down by wolves.
Legend had a good soundtrack for the light hearted action game that it was. For TR1 keep it the same. Don't touch it. I don't want to have music playing while i look at water. That's just not atmospheric.

OLD!!! If we get techno-pop ala Legend.....then we can officially say good by to any atmosphere !!!!
Id also like the old style quietness....just the sound of foot steps...
And if they fail to include the classic theme tune....WELL !!! There will be hell to pay!!!
Old of course, a remake's got to have the same soundtrack. :p
I'd love the old soundtrack, re-done London Symphony Orchestra style :D
Yay, at least we agree on This , eh Raid ;)
:vlol: Looks like it :yah::tea:

me 2. Although I did like the theme from Legend's trailer 3/Russia's interactive scene.
The old soundtrack is too low quality now, although I sure as hell wish the remake to get orchestral version of it. That would be only better, I guess.

I wouldn't risk changing a note. the old soundtrack is just too perfect :)
It has to be kept the same and that means keeping it minamilastic, no continuously running music, I liked how the music was a sort of prompt as to what was to happen. That was about the only "hint" we had to rely on back then. I like the orchestra idea too :)

Depends for whom. For fans, yes, and I understand it - but overall the TR1 music is way below standards of these days. And as Crystal already showed with Legend, matching the gaming standards is of higher priority to them than satysfying a group of AOD survivors that lust for old days of glory.
Honestly, the orchestral remake is the best among what I consider possible. Just pray that Folmann doesn't have the contract signed already.
PLEASE don't ruin the musical score of the game, CD. For me the heart and soul of the franchise is the musical score that plays. It has more to do with the atmosphere than any other design aspect, IMO.
Remaster it for better quality, or even use some kind of orchestrated version, but PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE IT. Thank you.
:o
My biggest fear right now is that they're going to try to modernize it to be like Legends. That would be the biggest mistake in the history of gaming if they did. Nothing against Legends, but they're entirely different types of game.
That's why I was hoping for the Core version to be honest. I know they wouldn't try to make it something other than TR1.
God you guys are gonna be ever SO dispointed. There is noway they wont change the old sound track thats just the way things work. Best chase senerio will be they will keep only one or two songs but make it into a techno remix..
Dont get your hopes up ppl
I'm said to say I think Misao is right. There is probably something to do with copyright...
OLD! i only liked the main theme from legend :p

OMG NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Tomb Raider had the best soundtrack ever. That would hurt the franchise a lot. Soundtrack plays a big role in any game.
TR had a unique soundtrack. It was atmosheric and involving instead of that boring and continuos music.

Couldn't agree more....
The Old Music please.
And with the same amount of silence too.
I prefer silence as a part of the soundtrack along with correctly sequenced (not repetitive, ambient) music.
I did like Legend's music though even considering it was constant. Well done Troels. :)

the soundtrack should be old. it will be new.

Wasn't the original music played by an orchestra??? I have my PS2 hooked thru my stereo and VCR so I can tape and listen to games in STEREO and the original sounds awesome on it! I originally even taped TR1. I still have the tapes. 4 of em, one for each location. :D
I kind of doubt that the soundtrack will be 100% the same as the original.

Remember the TR1 inspired music when Lara enters the Cornwall tomb..the really slow thing with the chellos and the choir?
That's how Troels should compose the entire soundtrack if its new.

Should be both a mix of old and new, with the original as the theme! but some areas repeated itself in the original I don't mind, but don't make it all legend music at least digital remaster and THX certify the game and the older music!
I wouldn't mind newer music either or new ambiant sounds!
There should be new tracks to give the game a newer feel to it, but at the same time it wouldn't be right if the old music tracks didn't make a return. The main ones I want to see return:
* When you fight Natla/escape from Qualopec's tomb
* Fighting the T-Rex and Natla's Beast
* The eerie Egyptian like music that plays at the base of the giant Sphinx in Sanctuary of the Scion
* The title screen music
Yeah everything you just said:D I really liked it. And in one of the FMVs, Tomb Raider II used one of the tracks from Tomb Raider I and I thought that was a nice brought-back to reuse that track:D
And about copyright issues...darn...doesn't Eidos own it or is it really Core? I reeally think it's gonna be Core...this is a tuffie...'cause the soundtrack is just beautiful...Legend's soundtrack was great but was kinda disappointing in some parts...
ALL tomb raider related stuff is property of eidos, as is anything lara related. Core name stays with eidos as well, just the core people got sold off to rebellion.
That sounds harsh...just selling them away...

Rearranged a bit, but the main theme should stay exactly the same...

I don't care what sound track they use as long as they take advantage of the dynamic music selection system...'cuz it is the best system in all video games I played, and it would be a shame not to make use of it...
Even the original is fine too:D It's so symphony-ish and awesome.
I liked the old games as they had ambient background music looped in the background and you only got music on events or parts that made you react like fights or traps.
What was the reactive sound system (that CD hyped had been developed for Legend) from what I noticed in the game with the exception to maybe the flashback level in Peru the music was just the same track on a continuous loop. The classic games sound was far more reactive to the situation you were in.
OLD it was great, far better than legend
more involving and gives better jump out of your skin moments

Unfortunately I never heard any of these (because I played on PC):( except for the title screen theme. So it would be awesome if these music tracks would stay the same:) (and I could hear those which I've never heard before).
Old.
If I get a DJ techo-beat soundtrack to the remake, I'll sob my little heart out.
Could you really have that on your conciense, CD? *bottom lip wobbles, big, puppy dog eyes well up...'
An orchestral update would fit the bill very nicely indeed!
However, if there is a case for copywrite problems, then at least go with something classical that has TR1's atmosphere and flavour. No techno beats at all within 500 miles of the remake, please!
Elysia - did you get my EEP pm ?

The T-Rex/Natla's Beast one was also used in Tomb Raider II in the FMV after the Tibet levels (the jeep chase). I'll try and see if I can find the other two online. :)

Wow really!:yik: Glad to hear that lol:) thanks!
I wan't the old soundtrack updated and done by the people who done Legend's(I am in love with teh Legend soundtrack it is absolutly amazin!)
For a TR1 remake the original soundtrack shoul most definitely be used! It was a great soundtrack! If any changes to the soudtrack were made it should only be enhancing the original score.;)

Honestly, if the old work isn't copyright of Nathan McCree (meaning he wont say DONT USE IT), I think it should be re-recorded. Original soundtrack should be used but the music should be recreated using real instruments, a real orchestra and a real choir.
That way it'd keep the original TR feel, but it'd come off so much more powerful.

Because it was made in 1996, I believe the entire thing was synthesized joshorty. Gaming companies simply did not have that kind of money to hire a full orchestra like they do today. Especially not a (then) new development house and production company like Eidos and Core.
Eidos has so much money now they could probably get the London Symphony Orchestra......oh wait they already did for AOD XP.
Wow...and it all sounded still pretty...real:D Even I didn't know that...well as for AOD, that one is fully orchestrated right? and Legend too?
I wonder if Lara will come with glow sticks and rave out during the techno remixes of the classic songs.
