I'm really excited about the upcoming remake but I'm also concerned that Crystal D. might mess it up. One of my concerns is the voice acting.

I really hope they'd bring back the actors from the first game, though I would prefer Jonell Elliot rather than Shelley Blond as Lara.

What do you guys think?

I don't think they'd bring Shelley Blond back for Lara after 10 years, however I do really hope they get the same voice actor for Natla (does anyone know who did the voice for Natla by the way?) They may just re-use the voice things but then again I'm not sure they could do that without paying the old actors.

I would think they would bring back Keeley Hawes, it would be a crime not too(IMO).

it'll probably be keeley hawes *sigh* *puke* *eww*

my personal fave is jonell elliot... but shelley blonde for tr1 would still be the best :D

Whoever they use I hope they handle the script carefully. I enjoyed Legend's story but I preferred the writing generally in TR1. Although of course there was a lot less...

Stuff like - "Didn't steal your credit cards lads?" I personally find a bit amateurish trying to be smart. It doesn't work as well as things like the, "Relocated to St. Francis's Folly where new temptations torment me..." bits of TR1, and stuff like, "So, you think all this talking is just holding me up?"

I think Juddith gibbons was the best voice for Lara Croft

I really liked the original voices in TR1, even pierre and larson. I liked their attiutudes, their inflections, their inuendos. But I don't know if they could even find them. And I doubt they will just use the original voices straight from the original.

Ooo, please be Keeley Hawes! Pretty please.

Say eww all you want, but out of all the voice actresses (Jolie NOT included), Keeley was the only professional actress with real experience.

Yes her voice was high in Legend, but I'm betting you if they ask her to sound like TR1 lara (who was high pitched too might I add) she'll do so effortlessly.

I hope its keely hawes. She sounds like a Lara Croft, and she did do it rather well. The old people didnt do much really. For example, if Lara was scared, they wouldnt talk as if Lara is scared. They just script read it, but didnt put any emotion in. Keeley hawes is the best I reckon.

i loved how keeley pulled off the acting (some parts were brilliant) but i just dont like how high and sweet her voice sounded. i want her to try and sound more womanly like lara did in tr1. and less cheezy

i think in the first 4 games there was a mystery to Our lara we never truly knew what she was feeling or going through and when she did talk which wasnt very often in the old games .. she had something mysterious but also good to say and i personally love the scene with Her, The Guy and " The Bell" :) Very sexy, dangerous, sleek and well thought

Aiya...Keely Hawes was AMAZING. She's would definently be a GREAT LARA CROFT for this one...if not...maybe Rachel [I forgot her last name but starts with a W] or Keira Knightley 'cause they all sound similar in ways:D but having Keely Hawes back would be an honour:) ..as for the rest...might be hard...even I THINK Amanda's voice would be able to do it if they were to script the necessary stage directions to become Natla. (gawrsh, even Amanda looks like Natla:rolleyes: but it's the voice I'm lookin' for)

No alister, but don't you think Jean Reno would be great for pierre, I think he is a great actor!

That too, scared me in both ways:D It's hard to imagine his voice like that after hearing from ONIMUSHA 3: DEMON SEIGE whenever he spoke in French and it sounds quite deep...

Good call with Walton Goggins for Larson........

But id suggest Olivier Martinez for Pierre......he played the bad french guy that they were breaking out of prison in "S.W.A.T"., I love Jean Reno, but his voice is deeper than id expect for Pierre......Martinez can get that nasty angry french voice going.....

I don't know, but I probably won't be the old voice actors cause they were two different persons voiceacting lara in tr1 and tr2, so that would make it a little complicated if they decided to make both...

I like Judith gibbens! My next choice would be jonell, then keeley, but only if keeley was told to sound tougher and less wimpy.

17-06-06, 08:27
Shelley Blonde did such a playful Lara... she'll always be my perfect Lara voice-choice!

Keeley Hawes was okay, but she sounded a bit weak in some places - very forced - it was obvious that Lara was being voiced by a voice actress putting an accent on as opposed to 'the character actually speaking' in some places.

thevman
17-06-06, 08:33
I still say I like the original voices best, there was a toughness and playfulness to their tones. Some really good tongue in cheek moments. Although I'm still surprised lara never nailed larson in the nads for hitting on her! :vlol:

Shelly B is Lara TR1 . She was perfect for the character, and I'd love them to get her to do it, but I doubt they will. I love Jonell's voice most as Lara, though it's obviously going to be Keeley. Great, another legend/Tr1 connection.

Well, I'm playing TRC again, and I think "Jonell" Lara's interaction with Pierre and Larson is simply fantastic.

I really hope they would be wise enough not to mix their version of TR (IE Keeley) with the one they are remaking because Core’s Lara was much more forceful and sassy, and that’s was part of what made the old TR series so successful.

I'd go with Keeley from TR7.

This may have already been posted, but I haven't read all pages...Who was making Lara's voice in II and III???

Thorir
17-06-06, 11:50
Judith Gibbins did her voice in TR2 and TR3. :)

Shelley is the original Lara, so I would prefer her! But Jonell is also great.
Keeley would be good too, but I would prefer the older voices. :)

Well since Keeley is still under contract with CD *I THINK*, it will probably be her, which I don't mind. In fact, none of the voice actors for Lara were bad at all. They all carried the part well IMO. So voice acting is the least of my worries.

I find it oddly deelp in my opnion (sorry). I just dunno. I'm suprised that after one year from TOMB RAIDER, her voice suddenly turns deep and then THE LAST REVELATION had her voice back high...

..well I think either Keely Hawes or the Jonell or the one who did TRAOD (which I'm suprised about the fact she did the ones for TR4-5!! 'cause she sounds dead from there...but in AOD she's packed!!)

As long as they don't decide to litter the script with "cute British swearing" like they did in Legend...Hehehe, I actually find this a problem in the Harry Potter films too. Some of the things the kids say are actually quite rude and come across as odd too, I find, for the style of film it is. Can't think of an example off hand though, but you don't find these words in the actual books. :D

Same with AJ saying the B word all the time in the first film. I and loads of people I know do use this word a fair amount, but not in that way. It came across as very artificial. I can't give examples because the auto-censor will wipe them out I expect.

No, you can say Bugger, it's not wiped out. ;)

I sometimes get the feeling that American film-makers (and, in this case, game-makers) seem to think the British ALL evolved from Hugh Grant. ¬_¬

I mean, if Lara Croft was real, she'd be more likely to shout the f-word when falling off a cliff than "Buugggeeeeeeeeeeerrrrr...."

Shelley was in her mid-30's when she voiced Lara, I really believe she'd be way too old to do Lara now. I also think that she stopped doing Lara because she didn't like the attention she got. She'd be in a cafe and they'd go "OH MY GOD. YOU'RE LARA CROFT. SAY 'NO!' LIKE SHE DOES WITH THE KEY HOLES.". I remember reading that in an interview somewhere.

If you hear the real Keeley talk, she's very british and has a deeper voice then Legend Lara.

In reality it all depends on who's coaching the voice sections. If he tells Keeley to sound light and aristocratic she's going to. Personally..I think TR1 lara sounded a bit like a londoner when she normally spoke.

Are you sure she was in her mid thirteys? I thought Judith was older than shelley. Here's her IMDB profile, not much on there, but she did a bit of work last year so it seems
