View Full Version : Bun, Braid, or Ponytail?
Hey all. :D
Just wondering which would you all prefer in the Anniversary Game:
Bun - TR1 (due to limited pixels in TR1 engine)
Braid - TR2-TR6
Ponytail - TR7
I'd like to have the bun or the braid back, they were both original. If we're getting a remake either the bun or braid will both work, although the braid will look better on Lara.
What do you all think?

Actually Lara was meant to have a braid in Tomb Raider 1 in all the FMV's it is a braid, but it was to hard for them to do in game so the tied it up (less motion) So l vote for the BRAID!!!!
I think they wanted the braid in the first game but lara's model was so limited in pixels it just wouldn't work. I'd go with the braid if it was up to me.

The problem was that if they used a braid they would have to animate it for every move Lara can do. They weren't able to program it like in TR2-7.
Yeah, she was suppost to have a braid, but I guess the engine back then could only do so much.

Since core didn't have enough animations/pixels to make the braid, and Lara was supposed to have a braid!!!
Then I would choose braid.
I like both ponytail more on a woman :p but braid is more Lara though.
So I pick Braid.
As long as her hair sways the way it does in Legend, and not stays still like a rock like it did in AOD.
Braid, mabey a ponytail in one level possibly where he hail is messed up:D

I think the bun would be more apt, but I'd like the braid. :)

Braid. It was planned for tr1, so I see no reason why put anything else...

I'd like it to be different throughout the game, like if Lara started with a braid, then it came undone a bit so Lara changes it into a ponytail, then when her hair gets wet at another point she puts it up in a bun.... something kind of realistic like that, as a tribute to every TR.
I agree, it has to be a long and dark brown braid.

it's a possibility, but very time consuming to unlock a different hair style

I agree. I want Lara to chnage outfits in TR 1. Especially in Peru. then maybe she can take off the winter clothing in Lost Valley and have classic outfit on.

I DONT WANT TO GO BACK AND PLAY THE GAME AGAIN JUST TO SEE LARA IN DIFFERENT CLOTHES!! She can change her clothes through the game, but I don't want it as some sort of 'prize' for completing the game! If they were to add unlockables for collecting secrets, I'd just want to see extra levels. I don't care what lara is wearing to be honest, I want to play the GAME!
I really, really don't care, to be honest. I'm more worried about gameplay issues than Lara's hair...

have you checked my list for what I want for tr remake? there I explain what I want for unblockables.. damnit.. It's a good list from my opinion..

I didn't! But we were told there was high replay value! I hardly call adding 20 outfits to 'replay' the game in high replay value!! do you? They THOUGHT that adding 20 outfits would keep us happy because of the fact they created a short game. I am angry that they made me pay full price of a game for half a game!!

I really don't care:p whatever hairstyle Lara does, she always manages to look superb! (but I guess the bun would be fun to see again; after all it's the classic, original hairstyle of her - when adventuring;)).
I think the braid would be best -
if they're gonna go classic/remake best to stick to classic as best as possible.
Or it's just like they say for movies "bad remake"

I prefer braid, with the side-swept fringe, like in Legend. I reckon, if you have been rolling around to much, or have been swimming for too long, or being doing something really active, Lara's hair comes un-done, so its out, and everywhere, and if you want it back to normal, you just wait for about 30 seconds, and she ties back into a braid, or just a bun, then once you complete a level, it automaticly goes back into the braid.

I like her hair was being frenchbraided like Jolie in first movie, but I also like her ponytail & maybe bunch. I'd prefer her hair being frenchbraid. But Here, I read a lot of comments&complains about it. Well, for the future games (TombRaider) why don't the developer make option for her hair style like any other RPGs? So, we can change her hair wherever&whenever we want with our favorite hairstyles, not just frenchbraid, ponytail, topbunch,...... I think this can solve our different comments. Honestly, I'm sorry 'bout my English...

in tr1 is not a braid.it's a bun which is delicious and Lara can take a piece out of her hair when she's hungry after all those adventuring.

hmm the earlier model for legend Lara looked good with the hair (braid!)
but I prefer really long braid from tr4 :D (might have been the same length but it looked longer)

its a remake from tr 1,.. SO I WANT THE BUN,.. after it,.. whatever she looks fine in almost everything,.. except in the angelina jolie extravaganzas hair styles... from tr 2
Does the girl have to stick to one hairstyle? She could choose between the braid and the ponytail dpeending on what she feels like! Personally - the braid is classic - and a Lara Croft trademark, but I don't mind the new ponytail.

I liked the braid Lara had in aod that one seemed more realistic. There others from TR2-TR5 just looked like ponytails to me. :cln: :p

It's controversial, but I'd go with ponytail. The Legend Lara was much more realistic and an evolution of the other TRs, so you can't just go back on evolution! :O

I much prefer the braid, I find it gives her much more personality visually than a standard ponytail, and the only buns I want to see on her are these:

I prefer the braid! When came across Tomb Raider back in 1998, I had short hair and I began to wish I had a braid like Lara. Now my hair is long and the braid is one of my favorite hair styling :) Ponytail is boring.

Well, i know (not for sure) that TR1 has not braid cos a software limitation as we can see in the movies she actually have one. but not in the gameplay so, i don't know...i think i would like to see her just like that....without braid (or ponytail). i think they handled very well without no braid at all.
