The Lord of the Rings < number 1 favourite.

Harry Potter series is great fun to read, will be sad when it's all over next year.

Next book I intend to buy? Hmm, either:
"The Secret History of Lucifer" - Lynn Picknett, or
"The Element Encyclopedia of Secret Societies and Hidden History: the Ultimate a-z of ancient mysteries, lost civilizations and forgotten wisdom". - John Greer

My favourite books are the Old kingdom series by Garth Nix. there quite different, but really good reads and ive read them all, about 8 times.
