View Full Version : Will Complaining Lead to Cancellation?

I for one want the remake to happen. Yes, I had some issues with CD's rendition in Legend, and yes, I am not happy that the remake was jerked out of CORE's hands. Even so, CORE's remake was going to be for PSP. Now how many fans have one of these or will put out the $300 to get one to play the game on a 5" screen? Lets be realistic.

Saying that, shouldn't the remake happen and shouldn't we all go forward? Does not Tomb Raider deserve an anniversary celebration? If you really hate the remake idea, then just don't buy the game. Or wait until you hear about it on the forums to make a decision.

CD is the producers of Tomb Raider now, and we can either work with this company in a positive way to get the game we all really want, or we can trash the company into the ground and bury TR's future.

You choose.

My concern is that all the ranting and raving will spread in the Internet and will end in the cancellation of the game. Lets be reasonable, not emotional.

You should know by now that Eidos doesn't listen to the fans.

Every game causes conflicts and complaints! No way they will cancel it!

I don't think they could cancel it, they promised us a remake after disappointing us by stating the people we thought were making aren't. If they were to 'cancel' it again, I think EIDOS would be maimed and murdered by the members of the forum, here, lol

I personally think that Crystal D's Remake is probably nearly ready.
I also think that they don't really look at our complaints.
After all, legend got a high rating in all sorts of magazines, right?
(My (negative) review at amazon didn't even get published.)

Once eidos officially releases a statement saying that a game is in development they aren't likely to cancell it.

The only reason that the last version was cancelled was because Core had made it before they lost TR.

How very sad but definetly very true :(

I don't think they will cancel the re-make just because some people are complaining :)

I was on another forum today and everyone there wants the re-make to happen and no-one is complaining :p

It is possible, you make a good point. If it was not for the leaked Core trailer, there would be no ranting and raving.

However, hardcore fans of anything are always very critical of everything. They will know this, and they will take into account that the trailer was leaked.

Being a big company i am sure they can take all the bad talk. They will do the game. All that people are doing is saying 'this game is very dear to me, please dont **** with it too much'

That sucks!

Haven't they already learned from AOD's failure? Does history have to repeat itself in order for them to learn?

well how come there these official thread trl mades like IMPORTANT: five things you disliked and liked..

besides Jaywalker is here. He works for eidos.. Just remember what people wanted for eidos. They wanted a grabling hook - they got it
they wanted binocs - check they got it
etc. Just view the old threads in legend section and people got so many things they wanted.. People started demanding more too late.. That's a main reason they didn't ad those what we questioned for like two or three months before!

I think Eidos does as Eidos wants so even if enough people were against the re-make they'd still go ahead with it anyway

But it's not all doom and gloom, I mean Tomb Raider does deserve a re-make and so long as Toby Gard is on board I highly doubt it will become a Legend re-hash :)

Toby loved the original Tomb Raider and he was the one who created Lara Croft to begin with. Now, if the re-make was being made by Crystal themselves I would be worried but with Toby incharge it's in safe hands :tmb:

I very much doubt it.

The guys from Core who were working on the project informed us that they also had a Ps2 version in development, just thought I'd add that.

Didn't they publish all the plans for the AOD trilogy? Granted, it wasn't in production but they canceled in less than a heartbeat and then gave Core the boot once all the bad reviews, and fan complaints started rolling.

And, who asked for the grapple, hehe?!! Own up! :D

Really though is that true?

OMG, surely they don't use the suggestion threads on these forums as the sole basis for their market research?? I'd find that simply amazing if they did.

No...they will not just use that...(digging out my textbook)

If I recall correctly, suggestion/survey is one way for ideas...the other ones are product comparsions, morph charts, and brainstorming sessions...

So the grapple idea could either a suggestion from the fans, an idea borrowed from another game/movie, a specific tool designed for a situation, or just plain crazy idea from a CD employee...

how about we trash them into the ground if they ruin the remake?? after playing legend i think there's a good chance of that.

No sadly, not a force on earth will stop them from making this, no matter how much ranting and raving. Money is all theyre concerned about, but what happens when eventually people stop buying their games? Though, some people are getting on my nerves becuase they are not understanding what I say.

I want an anniversary edition.

I don't want Crystal Dynamics making it and ruining it by turning it into another Legend. Their main concern is getting Tomb Raider 8 to playstation 3, and we all knew how long Legend took. I don't want them ruining classic Tomb Raider by turning it into another Legend. I liked Legend, alot, but what people don't understand is that re-making this, the people outside of our world will not see it in the way we do, and not everyone was happy with Legend.

If it was Core doing this, I would be 100% for it. They made the game in the first place, its theirs. Now I don't care what ever rights that CD now has to Tomb Raider, thery have no right to re-make classic Tomb Raider. Its as simple as that.

Just a quick note core were making for PSP, PS2 (and probably pc)

Nope this project equals money. As any so it won't be though saying that Core's version was cancelled but only because it showed up CD real bad.

All the projects = money. Eidos isn't in this for the kudos. Any game producer must make money, including CORE. I think we are doing what humans do sometimes and that is drawing the line and "taking sides". I think Eidos/CD did make an attempt to address the previous complaints, after AOD, but basically went too far with the re-vamping of Legend. It was the first game. Lets hope that they learned some lessons, do their homework and really take a hard look at what TR gamers want.

I would be the first one to leap for joy if CORE was doing this game, knowing that they would do an outstanding job, but it is not happening. So what are we going to do? Stomp our foot and pout and tell Eidos if we can't have our way, then forget it?

I think I would beat you to jump first.;)

Trust me, there are a good 1,000 people here which have the same views as I do, we don't want to buy it, it is a disgrace that they are having CD do this instead of Core. I can bet after they see the negativity that is bound to happen, more than what is going around here, maybe they'll think outside their wallet.
