View Full Version : How about giving the mercs bullet-proof vest and thus force Lara to do melee.

Well, since a lot of TRL players don't give a damn about melee, why not give the guys bullet proof vests (in the next TR game, that is) so that it will make Lara do something more creative, e.g.,

1. Foot sweep
2. Throw a grenade
3. Melee
4. manual aim at the enemies' legs or head

To be honest, I don't think improved AI will make a big difference since Lara is already too poweful in her current state and the bad guys need to be competitive without being cheap (e.g., having a way too lengthy life bar like in the old games).

That was the only hard thing about the men of previous TRs:D

Hey, theres no need to be that rude about it. If you dont agree you can say you dont agree in a respectfull way. Anyway personally I dont agree with the part about having to use melee attacks. But yes they should have a really high health imo like they were in tr2.

But don´t you think it was a bit exagerated? I mean, men with shirts and baseball bats who needed tos of our twin pistols bullets to be defeated...However, it was still fun:tmb:

I liked it. TR isn't about realism. Realism in legend made it too easy. It was really exagerated in tr2 but was really fun that way. It added to the challenge. It especially added to the challenge when I did tr2 without medipacks.

That must have been hard.:) I finished it recently and the final stats said that I used 26 medipacks:o I know it´s not about realism (we see many supernatural enemies, myths and legends that become true) but humans are the only realistic thing TR has.

Interesting idea, but in my experience enemies that won't go down even in a shower of bullets tend to get a bit frustrating - there's not much of a difference whether they have a very long health bar or bulletproof vests. Mercenaries that use the environment to their advantage (especially for cover) would be better IMO.

Actually humans in tr have never been realistic. They've always had an amazingly high amount of health that was so unrealistic. Its only in legend that they were realistic. Well actually aod had realistic people too. You cant say humans are the only realistic thing in tr coz its only in aod and legend that they were realistic.

Because Lara Croft's health level is so much more realistic. :p

I didn't say it was. Its a good thing its unrealistic. Its a game not real life.

I say it because they are not supernatural (they aren´t fierce animals which just want to kill Lara either). That´s why I said that they are the only realistic thing TR has.

The AI of the game it's really doom bad because I've noticed sometimes that I was shooting at a guys and the other tough was shooting in the air, and they shoud run out of bulets. The touhs shoud do what Lara does, they shoud be moving around, and they are stupids because I once was in a spot where I coden't fire ate an enemy because he was too far but he coud shoot at me, but he got closer and spoted where the range of my guns bigined, now camon the mecs are pretty stupided.

You cannot spell.

Back on topic: No need for melee. Lara Croft is a dual custom high-capacity Heckler & Koch USP Match wielding tomb raider. Let me say that again because it is so important: dual custom high-capacity Heckler & Koch USP Match pistols. She loves them, we love them, Eidos loves them, and the wallets of the bosses of Eidos love them too.

All the melee we need (and are going to get) we already have, mainly, the slide-tackle and the grapple pull. What we need is more creative kills. Have you ever slid into an enemy causing him to fly into the air and then drop into an abyss? What about grappling a merc's belt and pulling him into an ancient burning fire pit? Try it, you will feel the essence of Tomb Raider. No need to be doing reverse scissor kick takedowns or Gainer Triple Flash Switches, or 720 Hyper Twist kicks. In terms of attacking as Lara, I am satisfied. In terms of attacking as the environment, I think Crystal Dynamics could go a little further.
