I've completed San Andreas for PS2 but not for PC (I know there isn't any difference though!)

You go to like a super market. Go in, with Big Smoke. And theres like hundreds of guards just waiting for you. After you kill all of them. Its a bike race, and you got to keep the bike intact.
I'm not so good at aiming. Thats my problem :(

Damn. Its hard keeping up to date with you guys. I like to help people on GTA problems. Give them cheats and advice.

Yup it is good. The only problems is that the radio stations are shorter since the UMD isnt as big as a DVD. But except from that, its a brilliant game and I reccomend it even if you have GTA3 :)

Aint even done first island.
Neither have I. I've done 98 and something percent. I haven't used a walkthrough or anything like that to help me find things so I'd say my percentage is pretty good.

I only use weapon cheats. No walk throughs.
I do cheat. Not for to complete the game. But to have fun when I want to kill CJ or have fun with vehicles. Like... Super punch and Make CJ do massive bunny hops.
I dont use cheats my first time through. When I replay it I do but my 98 percent save hasn't used any cheats.
I use cheats just if I wan't to have fun mucking around with riots and stuff. And I occasionally use cheats for difficlut missions.

That's another good one. I think it's Area 69 you have to inflitrate.
With GTA3, I practically knew ever street in Liberty City, but with San Andreas, I still get lost!
That's what makes it so good.

Ok. Just completed an OG Loc Mission.
You got to kiddnap these people and dunk them in the water :D
I had to steal this car. Collect these people drive to the sea or w/e and drowned them ;) Sweets I love SA and VC.
There the only games I have Except for GTA Advance for GBA.

Its not that good. You view your player from its head. Its got crappy graphics. And to me not point in doing missions on there. It's hard from the start. So I just like to kill people take money and cars.

If they made it 3D on the GBA, it would run horribly, the GBA isnt designed for 3D games.
So they have to put it viewing from the head. :)

No the first two for playstation and GTA 3 are all roman numerals... check the box it says Grand theft auto III and no grand theft auto 3. :)

i guess, because the new GTA is due in October 2007 there's really no rush to realease screens and plot details this early.....
i must confess though i'm suprised no details have yet been released about Vice City Stories...and that's out this October

I know but with san andreas we had screenshots about a year before it came out... and saying that VCS comes out in like 2-3 months... and still no screenshots or talk of main characters or story for that matter is leaving it a bit late... they need to provide lots of information so people hear about it and look forward to it.

i am looking forward to GTA4 though.....mainly because it is yet unknown when and where it will be set.....
as for VCS, i rekon screens and plot details will be in the upcoming issues of the official PS2 mag.....August/Sept issues (they come out one month ahead)

i doubted LCS would come to PS2 but it did.....at that time they said LCS was a PSP exclusive...but it came to PS2, so i guess "it's possible" VCS might do the same

Because PS3 is coming out soon. And creaters and designers will be making PS3 games shortly. So they will make it for more popular consoles.

people have started making games for PS3 already,most of the launch titles are in the final stages of development....as for GTA
it is claimed the PSP & PS2 are very similar to develop for, as such porting from one to the other is easy,therefore the PS3 is irrelevant...games for PS2 won't stop being made just because of the new machine...............just like PS1, development will gradually be phased out in favour of PS3, so i say many games will be released on PS2 throughout 2007, along with PS3 games

I think I liked VC the best. The one thing that annoyed me about it though was the camera flares that would appear on screen while you were driving.
I think most people liked GTA3 the most because it was revolutionary, having the expierance for the first time of being able to go anywhere in a 3D city was awesome, but now that we're used to that, R* needed to come up with new things besides that to keep our attention.

they change the game : they can make into a total different game with other misssion , or they just chage a car/weapon
look itp on google, there are tons of mods for GTA,it a game with the most mods i've ever seen :cln:

I was informed of some tragic news today, one of GTA's best map makers, Odie, passed away last month on Tuesday, June 7th, 2005, the same day San Andreas was released on PC/Xbox.
For those of you who haven't heard of him he was one of the greatest map makers for GTA3 and Vice City. He released the 1st ever map mod for GTA3 - Ultimate Stuntpark. And the 1st ever map mod for Vice City - Beachpark.
He also had a dream to create his hometown of Berlin, Germany and put it in a GTA game, Odie also contributed to popular mod Myriad Islands.
A lot of us think a memorial should be made for him and put in San Andreas and I believe this will happen as a talented bunch of modders over at GTAForums are in discussion about.
Odie, real name Heiko Feege was just 37. Details of his death have not been publicly released. He leaves behind a widow and a son (8).
May he rest in peace.

Exactly one year today, GTA modding legend Heiko Feege, better known as Odie in the GTA community, passed away, at just 37 years old. For those who are maybe new to GTA and don't know of the event, you can read our news post from last year, and also this press release (.pdf) put together by members of GTAForums, a forum he frequented.
Many tributes have since been made to Odie, with fellow modders including homages to him within their own mods. Odie left behind a widow and a son, along with GTA Berlin, a huge total conversion still in development today, which aims to bring Berlin, the capital city of Germany into San Andreas, without their project leader.
The GTA Berlin team have put together a small video slideshow with some images of his contributions to the community, along with the simple message of "Wir werden dich nie vergessen", translating to "We will never forget you". You can check out the 1 minute tribute here (.wmv file).

You mean the one in Vice City? Instead of using the normal entrance (and losing all your weapons), drive a car up to the fence on its left, then jump on the car and over the fence. It's so much easier to kill some unarmed guards when you've got a machine gun. ;)
Another way (a bit harder) is to destroy all golf carts except one by driving or pushing them into the sea (before approaching the victim, and jump out first, of course!) You can then just take the remaining one and run everybody over.

What console do you play it on? On PC, they have nothing but golf clubs, if I remember correctly.

Oh I remember that mission ewhen 'I played on my brothers ps2. Just take a dynamite and go to the higest floor. Place t on the pink thing. Then go down in the stairs with the helicopter. Till you come out from the building etc. Not so hard. Just try some times:)

Me too. Well, I ripped the soundtrack and still kept 32 songs for my mp3 player, but I don't like the rest. I'm not too fond of the GTA3 one either, but Vice City's is the best game soundtrack ever IMO.

you should look with some prograls in the files of the game, if you read the textures, you can see parts from the previious game. like the exiting screen from VC :D

Just recently started Vice City for the first time, so I think this thread deserves a rebirth. I can't believe I've ignored this brilliant game for so long. I completed GTA3 back in 2003 but never moved onto any of the others until earlier this year when I bought Liberty City Stories. Now I've invested in Vice City and San Andreas as well (I'm doing the former before the latter).
Last port of call was Diaz' mansion, which I took over and now own. I'm on a mission called "Skakedown" next, which takes place in the shopping mall. Stats to date...
Rampages - 18/35
Packages - 48/100
Unique jumps - 3/36
Prperties owned - 5
Time - 15hrs approx
It's incredible how beautiful the game is. The scenary around the city is so gorgeous and lush.

I've recently started San Andreas. It's good, if not a little too 'gansta'. I've played GTA3 right through though, and I'm currently at 80% completion (aiming for 100%), so I'm a GTA3 person. I do love that game. :D Unfortunately the radio stations don't work for me because my dad got it a few years ago and it is, as he calls it, a 'dodgy copy'. :p Piracy was a lot easier and a lot more common then. It's only recently that it's started to really be cracked down on.
I've had a quick go on Vice City, but didn't think much to it. I personally think the graphics on GTA3 are the best, because they are less 'cartoony'. San Andreas graphics are good, but I prefer the GTA3 graphics. Also, whilst the car crash sound effects are best on San Andreas, other sounds such as police and ambulance sirens sound terrible, unlike the very realistic sounds used in GTA3.

Vice city is pretty good. In fact its a fantastic game and one of my favourite games of all time. However its nothing compared to San Andreas. San Andreas is simply the best game I've ever played and is rivalled only by TR4 in my fav games list. Vice city isn't very good for playing once you've completed the main game. Random killing sprees and causing loads of mayhem is only fun for so long. San Andreas offers alot more extra stuff to do for 100% and its still fun. Vice city isn't fun for getting 100%. Its fun for a while once you've completed the main game but it doesn't have the staying power SA has imo.
Well, I'm only at 23% complete so far, so I'm still at that point where the game is madly addictive and "new".
I've put the Vice City map up on my bedroom wall next to my PS2, so I can check it during play :D
Even though I haven't started San Andreas yet, I've put that map on the wall as well. It looks bloody huge compared to the other game maps! :yik:
Yes. To begin without knowing in that direction you go, and little by little you go learning the streets and the short cuts. It's funny

It s one of the best games.
I play without cheats first, and when I have it finished I use everything what there is in the network to modify it.
The cheat that I like more is the one that transforms your car into a “solid car” and the other cars leave flying when you hit them :jmp: :cln:

All I seem to have got for my troubles is a lap dance and an ice cream van. Is there actually any practical point to buying these places, other than being able to save my game more often? Also, do you get to enter the memorial stadium at any point in the game?

There is a point to buying them. You have to do them for 100%. Complete them to gain the asset for them both. You have to do 50 ice cream deals in a row and spend a certain amount of money in the strip club. I cant remember how much you have to spend on the stripper but I do remember it was very boring waiting for my money to go.
I completed GTA: Vice City 100% in two days, and GTA: San Andreas in 5 days. Nothing else to do, really.

Plus you've got the hidden packages to find, rampages to find and do, the races, the top van missions, loads more crap to do to get 100%. You could not do that in 2 days. There's even more to do in san andreas and you cant do that in 5 days. I'd be surprised if you even finished the main story in 5 days. Either you are lying or you mean you completed the main story of vice city in 2 days and SA in 5 days. Thats plausible but 100% in that amount of time is not possible.

Some new Vice City related questions....
1 - How do you do deals in the ice cream van? Parking the vehicle and pressing L3 doesn't work. It doesn't turn the jingly noise on or draw customers, nothing. I know it's not my joypad because the L3 works fine on fire engine missions. :confused:
2 - I'm stuck on a mission where Tommy and Lance want to steal cop clothes. Apparantly I'm to lure cops into some sort of lock-up, but the only dot on the map takes me to an abandoned police car on a patch of grass. Getting into the police car affects nothing, and goading cops into that grassy area does nothing. :confused:
Lee, you have to press the L3 button quickly for the sound to turn on. And then just sit there and let them come to you.

Depends on where you live. It's already released in US, and it's released in Europe as well.
And by the way, it's GTA: Vice City Stories. It's not the same game as Vice City, but it's the same city.

I did this mission such a long time ago I can't remember exactly how it went. Have you tried parking a helicopter outside the entrance of the police building. Then once your outside quickly get into it and helicopter back to the mansion. :)
I've done it now. I worked out where three police bribes could be found within a close proximity and went for them rather than just drive straight back to the mansion. It reduced the wanted stars from 5 to 2 and made my eventual journey achievable.
Now I'm on "Messing with the man", or at least I will be tomorow. I have two minutes to fill a chaos meter, which is harder than it sounds.
That mission is surprisingly difficult Scott, you have to make Tommy go mental to complete it.
I noticed something a while back, is it me or do the cars in GTA: Liberty City stories, have alot more endurance then in GTA3? I was doing the Police Vigilante missions on GTA 3 and within 3 or 4 major hits, the car was heavily damaged. But on LCS, it took about 11 hits for it. :confused:
I didn't notice that, but what does happen on LCS is that if you so much as turn your back on any car it will disappear when you turn back around again. The game memory isn't as good as on GTA3.

This may sound weird, but for me its the hardest mission in the game. Its easy to cause loads of chaos in the time but its the amount of cop attention you attract. What I do is blow up as many cars as I can inclusing all police cars that come towards me. The easiest way to do this for me is to find the minigun and use it. That way you can blow up as many cars as you like in a second. Once you complete the mission your wanted level still remains so you'll have to get back to the mansion on foot with probably a four or five star wanted level.
I had an idea to just line up seven or eight cars outside the biker bar, and then blow them up when the mission starts. That should fill 50-60% of the meter. The only trouble is, you don't have to walk far before cars 'disappear', or do much piling before getting a wanted star prior to the mission has even officially beginning. Another problem I've had so far is being unable to shoot the police helicopter because of the rotor blades getting in the way.
Regarding "Messing with the man".
I don't remember it working for me, but some people said it works if you just shoot one car until it blows up. Then start shooting at the wreckage, your chaos-meter will still go up as if you were shooting on a car that hasn't been blowed up yet, but your wanted level will not rise any more.
I just shot everything around me until I got a three star wanted level, then went up the nearby stairs up on a roof, then just shot every car down there, and police helicopters payed a visit sometimes which gave alot of chaos before it blew up. Cops just came up the stairs sometimes, and when they did, it was just 1-2 of them at a time.
When I was done, I just runned of the roof on the other side and took one of the bikes parked outside Baker's bar and drove to the closest pay'n'spray.

Next mission has got me at a loss though. I have to recover a stolen bike, but when I drive to the pink dot on the map there's nothing there :confused: The dot is right in front of some stairs that don't lead anywhere. The streets nearby look normal and I can't figure out what the hell to do from here.
Hmmm the stairs lead up into the air, but I wonder what would happen if I went up on those stairs on the superbike? ;)

Well the map is alot smaller then San Andreas's. But it is still a fun game, and you can get it for less then £15 now. Or maybe get the Vice City stories PSP game. :)

One thing I love about SA is the ability to play video games in it! It highlights how real the game is, and makes you think it is real life!

I'm still chugging away. I bought the cab company and the film studio yesterday, and also reached 21/35 rampages and 51/100 packages (not bad stats without help). There's a great rampage on top of the airport that you can only reach by helicopter. You have to blow up 12 cars with a rocket launcher.
Did a classic mission tonight. Oh you've got to love the sight of six taxi cabs trying to ram another taxi cab in the middle of an enclosed dock area. Stupid but brilliant :D

Finally reached the 3rd island on Liberty City Stories, thought I would never get there at one point. Has anyone gone to the top of the mountain with a motorbike and leapt off the top? How fun :D. And how many hidden packages does everyone have? I Got 14.

Most of them I just happened to find in the game world, I search for a couple for the free handgun at the hideout and also because of extra money. I wonder if anyone has found all 100 without cheating or using a walkthrough, personally I just wouldnt even attempt it.
I've had LCS for months and I've only done about 5 missions lol. I've done even less in GTA 3 and I got it on the same day. Going from San Andreas to GTA3 and LCS is just so hard. I can go back to the inferior Vice City easily but LCS and GTA3 just aren't fun after SA. SA wipes the floor with every GTA and in fact every other game imo. VC wipes the floor with GTA3 and LCS though.

The most I got on any game (without help) was 65/100 on GTA3
I found all tags in SA without help but thats all. Cant remember how many horseshoes I found before using a walkthrough. I haven't used a walkthrough to find oysters and I cant remember how many I found. It was a little more than half of them I think. I found not much more than 50 packages in VC and almost all rampages. SA is the one I put the most effort into. The jetpack helps alot for getting around quickly.

The jetpack is your best friend for this. I spent hours on end searching every little place with the jetpack.

It's more a matter of how pointless reviving a thread is, rather than its age. If people still have meaningful things to discuss about old GTA games, that's fine. If somebody had dug it up just to say they've completed Vice City, that'd be a different story. It just wouldn't be of any interest to other people.
